I have a nissan micra K12 2005 which has a starting up problem... (Apparently this is quite common with the micras)
When i try to start it thier is a light in a shape of a car with a key shape inside it which is where the dials are which flashes red...
Basically i have to keep turnin the ignition couple of times to start it.
Went to my nearest mechanic and he said it could be the relay which isnt giving enough power to start it or it could be the start motor etc...
Does any one know the problem on how to fix this???
engine compartment fuse box some times gets power and somtime dont
the garage man is trying to get a wiring digram to see if the power comes straight from the key barral or the driver side fuse box
any nissan splitset out there that can help thanks
p.s after my mechanic had a look at it, it doesnt start no more =(

Hi

Very true its a very common problem with K12 Micra's......Ask your Mechanic to check the Fuse box in Engine Bay near the Battery for poor or dirty connection.

Hope This Helps

Yeah he opened this white box with alot of wires and tried looking for bad connections wich is connected to the ignition barrel and couldnt see anything wrong with it... and he had noticed that a previous mechanic had opened it before probably to check for the same thing

a deal with the scrap-yard and get rid of the piece of shit ,
ok look for bad connection's in engine-room near the battery or check the distrubtor for no signals from the hall sensor
:roflmao:

Not going to argue with either of you two on the subject, but some Jap cars have a hall effect 'distrubitor' with with no rotor arm/cap to provide the lumpystick/crankshaft signal.

EG Mazda MX5, same shit differant day with ford pube dissy,(just the lower plate)

Is the car I-key or Non I-key? date of manufacture?
K12's suffer from faulty ign barrel switches which in turn can cause damage to starter motors!
Also might be worth checking fuse 14 in engine compartment fusebox, and that BCM recieves 12v signal at pin 48 when ign switch is in start position. (if you have non I-key)

Is the car auto/manual? Could be PNP Switch?
You say red light flashes? This indicates a NATS fault!

Not going to argue with anybody, but under the centre console.

BCM is located under dashtop on pass side, remove A-pillar trims and unclip dashtop, 2min job.

Does the car start at all now? Does the engine turn over? Does the NATS light flash everytime the fault occurs? Have you got/tried spare key?

Nah car doesnt start at al after my mechanic had a look at it lol
the nats light flashes when it dont start but when it starts it dusnt flash
nah i avent got spare key and i dont think it will make any difference because it could be due to poor/dirty connection like the user above said
