Can you read content on old ECU?

yes......
to clone a EDC16 ECU is very easy,
must use BDM1251 1255,
read full ECU single file,
then take another ECU and write files only previous

Tuning runner already explained it for you, you need to bdm the thingy. The whole content is then transfered to the "new" ECU.

In order to clone it you need to read flash and MPC only from old ecu and write to new...If you modify eeprom content car wont start...

If you say so...

But how do you expect his car to start with the eeprom content of a whichever car the donor ECU was taken from?
He would need all of his old immo details AND hw sw vag details of the flash which is in all the EDC16 eep's.

But sure, maybe I'm missing a point here.

No mate you right, and I am wrong. I've just cock up a bit...and this is related to a job I am doing now..
My apologies!

so do you need to read the mpc ?

or in theory can you swap out the eprom and flash am29bl802cb and the car would run ??

really need to know this as i swapped eprom data from 1 ecu to other but car still would not start

was going to flash am29bl802cb but kept get speed change error ,so decided not to bother .

i could just swap full flash chip to correct this ,but if data is stored in mpc then this wont work .

really ackward as i cannot source replacement edc16 ecu with correct part no

after you swap flash chip and eeprom you need to make checksumm update in the MPC. This can be done by using CMD BDM .

Not sure checksum will work mate...Been on one of this for 6 weeks now and going to get a new ECM ..

This should save you some time..
