The repair procedure requires a PIC programmer, normally the price programmer is nearly same as a duplicated opcom....

Simple.. your JDM doesn't program the PIC!
Ic-prog first write and after verify the programmed code.. so, during the verify, on the first address (000000h) you get that error!

PIC programmmers is much, simple is JDM based, and complex for proffi.
If there is a need programming PIC controllers in the future by USB and easy to use may be purchas PICKIT2 or 3.

The flashing works to get back to 1.39 with a bootloader. Did it with three devices so far...
And additionally testet PICKit2. Works when you lift a resistor during the flash (PICKit 2 cannot drive that much current to Vpp).

The simple Serial-programmer here works well and you can supply enough Power to Vpp :)

I repprogrammed PIC18F458, is really programmed but.. "failure" on test interface, opcomfut say me "PIC empty?"
But PIC is sure programmed, i can read with ICD2/MPLAB.

EPT in FT232 is ok..
And the schematic in the archive "how to repair..." is not realy, PCB is different..
Who know what can be broken?

you need an oscilloscope to monitor all signals coming from USB port until the uC.
without this it is more or less impossible to find, could be anything on the PCB from wire to cap or res.

all the best!

Hi, can you tell me how can I test relays if they are working or not? My interface stopped working after few weeks, I thought that maybe PIC is erased, but is not-in case I programmed it again, but still interface doesn't past the test. So maybe some relays are not working, but what is the easy way to test them. Another thing I can't find on my PCB board resistor R32 which should be 510ohm, maybe because my board looks a little bit different-i think that's new model. Is it on new PCB boards this resistor 510ohm as well?

Hi guys,

Im quite new on forum and i would like to download one of hex files for Op-Com

Done it, that topic helped me a lot. I have programmed OP-COM PIC on board with Willem programmer after i ran newest software and it erased PIC completely. It works well now.
What version of Willem PCB you have, because I have version 3.5 and there is no option to program 18f PIC series on version 0.97j?
Did you use ICprog?

Today i flashed my opcom v5 2007 interface with PicKit2 (also clone version :D but made from schematics by Microchip site) It wasnt necesary to desolder r11 smd like someone said here. I used 15cm wires to conect PIC to PicKit2 pins.

Thanks dk for info found here.

I have 3 pcs defective OPCOM with PIC erased. So I buy 5.0E SMD Willem and use 0.95d12 software and try also WINPIC800. After connecting 5 wires using schematic post here :

- pin 6 from PIC to Willem GND ICSP
- pin 7 from PIC to Willem VCC ICSP (+5v)
- pin 16 from PIC to Willem PGC
- pin 17 from PIC to Willem PGD
- pin 18 from PIC to Willem VPP (+12V)

I can't program OPCOM! I don't know where I do mistake.
I also try to lift R11 but result was same. Also I dont know If I use right firmware because there is different files with different size (FW 1.39 + Bootloader.hex (91kb), 139original.fw (56kb) etc. Also do I need to connect external power to OPCOM or only to use 12 external power (12v) connected to Willem - Winpic sofware doesn't switch VPP from Willem programmer like willem sofware do. Also how to configure switches in Willem?

Seems like willem didnt program corectly PIC18F458 (security bits?).
Now try to reprogram PIC again but directly from usb using OpcomF*t or opcom loader.
Better use AB-com to downgrade to FW 1.18 and then upgrade progresive using diferent opcom versions to whatever you want 1.20->1.33->1.39 or even 1.44 (beware if you use op-com to upgrade to 1.44 you cannot downgrade anymore using USB, only with external programmer)

I try also with WinPIC800 and security bits like on attached picture, programmed ended succesfully but still same result. Opcom FTDI give me:
Wait 1.5 second, so bootloader can start FW...
RX Buffer clear... OK
FW Versions- and Interface ID- request send.
Timeout - is your PIC empty? No Firmware?
Timeout - is your PIC empty? No Firmware?
Set RTS to LOW = PIC Reset

Maybe is some hardware problem, did someone have simular problem. BTW this problem appear when car was started and car battery was very low with OPCOM attached to OBD, and before that opcom work great. The other Opcom has same problem and same symptoms!

There's no Atmega ( Atmel ) in your OP-COm tool mate.
There's a PIC ( Microchip )
If you have a fw 1.33 ( for instance ) and you connect to the Op-Com China Clone 08/2010 ( 100219a ) and you a TEST then the softwear will upgrade your tool automatically.
Then your tool will have fw 1.39

Use OCflash in this case and you'llsee if the PIC it is empty or not.
But when you do a TEST of Interface with an OPCOM for clone as China Clone 08-2010 and in the the message of the TEST it said "FAIL" you'll be sure that your PIC it is empty
If it will say Firmwear 1.XX you can use OCflash and you'll can flash it with any firmwear you want.
As I said if you you have message "TEST FAIL" there's no way to reflash the PIC by USB just with an external programmer
Good luck

Mate as we allways talk about this.
Other firmwear then 1.39 it is unusefull for a tool if you use it with a softwear from 2010 as China clone it is.
If you want to use the fw 1.44 as yours you need to have 2011 OP-COm softwears
If we use other firmwears then the one the softwears version needs we just dreaming.
The China Clones softwear needs JUST FW1.39

Hello Guys,

can anybody give me a short overview which pins on the PIC I have to connect to my programmer and how to program it?

Am I right when im flashing 1.39 to make my OP-Com remain working. And do not have to flash it every time new?
is there something i have to do with the TFDI stuff?
out of the box there was 1.64 on my chip. Do i have to take special care about something?

Hello,
I have an 201008 China Clone Op-com interface. This worked fine until I did a firmware update to 1.59. Now, when I connect it to my car and try to open Op-Com China Clone software, my car open herself headlights and increases its engine speed. I tried to revert to a lower firmware version (1.39), but OCFlash says that "Bootloader did not respond...either killed interface, empty pic or new protection!" If I try to write only the bootloader everything are written right, but there are still 1.59 firmware version.
What should I do next?
Thank you!

Hi guys,

I've got this opcom: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4z8Bw-7hU0aY011bWpRenBHUlU

Tried to use it, but to no avail. It was with 1.59 initially. I downgraded to 1.45, but again no luck.

No unfortunately, I cannot flash it back to 1.59 it gives me the "bootloader did not respond either killed interface..." error.

Here is how it looks like with opcomfue

How can I determine if the pic is empty? And any advices how to flash it again with 1.59?
