hello! you need a 32MB PCMCIA Card - use the original ones if you want to reprogramm your card by using TIS2000 Software - with non original you won't be able to reprogramm card by TIS2000

Thanks. Have i understood correctly, the none origianls can only be flashed once, whereas the originals can be loaded and wiped repatedly? The originals are very expensive.

Try on ebay there is some 32MB linear flash card for about 200?

The OEM cards can be flashed with the factory software and allow snapshot functions. The aftermarket cards do not allow snapshot function and must be written with elan..or similar card writing device`s.
If you have a tis2web session, I don't think the aftermarket card will work either.
This is my understanding and present use of both card types...

CBEERMAN - Have you used the advertised memory cards?

No, I have a 3 factory cards. A SPX / OTC, 3 in 1 labled card (intel SERIES2-10) which is engraved with iMC010FLSA-15. A Tech 2 black labeled (INTEL S2E20SW) 10MB card that is actually 20MB and a Tech 2 blue labeled (Centennial FLM-20-11139-S5) 32MB card.

Stay away from 5V/5V cards they will not update via TIS nor save snapshots, make sure the card is a 5V/12V (series II)

What is the benefit to use the card from this site.
The price of an original tceh2 card is around 300$ and you can get used card for 250$.

One month ago I bought one used from ebay and it works and I can flash it with GlobalTIS

The site I linked to shows has information on what card will work with the part numbers, I agree that the prices are high and you can do better shopping around.

You can use a larger card if I wanted to put a 10Mb image on a 32Mb the empty space gets back filled ($FF)

Rob is not crazy there are differences in AMD D series cards. D series cards that are reconized by the tech 2 won't update via TIS or save snapshots and when you put them in a mastertech they are not found. The same is true for the D series cards that work in the mastertech, they are not seen by the tech2
The $64,000 questions is which work in which scan tool

Please tell me if I understand correctly:

Can I use a 5v memory card with Tech 2? They are 15$ on eBay. I understand that one can't write on them with Tech 2, or take snapshots (also writing on cards), but they can be written on PC adapters, with MCE. And all the other Tech 2 features are working.

And if one uses an Intel Series II+ compatible card (but not original Tech 2 card), it can be written on Tech 2.

if that's correct then the cheap one is also a starter's choice... But I may be wrong.

UPdate: The cheap ones are ATA, so they can't be used... But I guess any 32 MB 5v linear can be used, just for tech 2 reading, now writing.

is it possible to update the Saab memory card to support German language?

rrob311
19th June, 2011, 01:31 AM
I thought that there is a language option in the setup menus but I could be mistaken.

suk

The language in setup menu is only for the Tech2 himself you need a file with german soft for the card.

If you have an open PCI slot on your computer you can use this: ACTIONTEC PC750 AD75000 PCI TO PCMCIA ADAPTER TESTED | eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ACTIONTEC-PC750-AD75000-PCI-PCMCIA-ADAPTER-TESTED-/120742213154?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c1ccbf622)

does it works with elan software

Yes I do believe it should. I believe any reader/writer that connect via pci should work. The USB ones will not work with elan.

You have to use the Linear flash cards for the tech 2. They access memory differently.
