Nothing to do with synk....don't know how did you manage to 'open' one of these, think that in the process you have damaged the RF part....

If you look at these photo's, number 3rd, top right, you see a round black thing, same shit diff day in the reno key, see if it's smashed.

Yellow is the PCF IC, this is the heart of the card and its the part that handles the data parts of the RFID and RF remote.

Red is the RFID coil, responsible for communications between the card and car when the card is placed in the dashboard slot.

Blue is the RF transmitter, it sends the button codes to the RF reciever in the car (also built into the card reader). Notice the missing components in the right hand portion , hacked off by one of my customers when opening this card. Also note the two caps on the left are of the blue box. These couple the antenna to ground and are also easily hacked off by an over active scalpel :).

Green, well thats the flashy LED .. not much more to say about that.

Hope that helps.

so my question is, if the battery is left out for over half an hour, could it lose the sync

ps. my remote was slightly different

the rf coil was closer to edge

i dont recall there being any led.

if i replaced the yellow ic into another similar remote, would it work perfect again

last question, how the f*ck do you open this b@stard without slicing all you fingers *ouch*

1) see a**da%%ta what that says, try pressing the buttons like a div, check they click

2) no led, did it fall off, LOTS of aftermarket car alarms use the led as part of the transmitter circuit

3) can't see no reason why not Z786 have the tools, try it

4) let somebody else do it.

from what i've learnt, if the card loses the sync then the ign will not come on. in this case you just put card in slot & leave for up to an hour then ign will come on & engine will then start. i'd say it's not a sync error m8. as meaty says, if it's french then it's got two faults

If the card you opened was a 2 button card then it would have looked like that. All 2 button cards do.

Was it a black later model 3 button card, is so then the RFID coil is slightly offset and there is no LED.

The battery is ONLY for the radio transmitter. It makes absoultely no difference how long the battery is left out or in as to how the card works. The PCF IC stores all its relevant data in EEPROM, completely seperate to the battery power.

Swapping the chip into another card can sometimes work. It can eliminate the possibility of a faulty component in the radio section.

And as for opening then, use a blunt scalpel.

MrSporty posted a picture of a laguna, yours is different, you say it's megane. megane card it's a bitch to open,i only opened one once with a grinder.....,the plastic cover gone, but i only needed to start the car once.....
Still think that you damaged the radio part,if you don't care about design, take a sh card, try to keep the electronics in one piece and move your PCF from your card to the other,
easiest way i can think of...........

Well,if,you wake up in the morning with nothing to do,after :smokin::coffee: and a little:bebored: you should be able to pull the electronics out in one piece and swamp your cip. With the plastic cover never tried ,but i don't think you can glue it back, although, some power tape should do just fine...

Hi
Open up the card again ,Post a photo of the pcb.
I did repair three of these last month.
On two of them i damaged the round rf coil.Took off a few windings and repaired it. The last one I took out three Smd Caps with the scalpel ,luckily found all the caps after two hours of searching with an eye glass on the floor and repaired that one also.(Got too confident)

I will check if i can find a photo of one of mine. I used a knife with a adjustable sliding blade to open the biggest section of this card so nOt to slice yourself too deep. The blade is set to stick out about three mm. You still need hobby knife for some sections on the card. A small chisel is also handy to cut the inner sections.

Super glue keeps these cards nicely together .(Let it dry for an hour with a brick on top to hold the seems together)
Acetone removes super glue, so it will be easier to open up if there is still a fault on the card that needs repair .

Hi,
You have probably damaged the coil windings on the rf antena, with the blade as you opened the case.
You will need a scrap key to rob the part.

Or you have the battery in the wrong way round. The 2 little prongs go to the neg side, the pos side is picked up from the edge of the battery.

The kecard will start the car with no battery, the battery is only used for the remote function.

This type of card with the pcf7947 ( about ?20 renault ready ) does not loose its sync.

The Megane, Laguna and clio 3 all use the same chip but are prepared with a different format depending on which keycard they are needed for. They are then ready to be programmed to the car.

A new chip will not solve your problem.

Good luck.

can also confirm that you probably sliced one or two componants on the RF side of it ... if its starting the car, then its syn'ed/programmed to the car fine !!!

ive fixed a few of these now, best way in is with a stanley blade, only open half of it, and wedge it open do ya repair (mainly on the coil contact) then super glue back up )
can do um now with no real sign that ive been in them !!!

if ya stuck still then post a reply will scan a pcb in, so you can compare

I have seen a few of these that have been repaired and then the central locking doesnt work, its quite comon for the battery connectors to get bent and not connect properly - sometimes the simple things are overlooked.
