Hi lads.
Been trying and reading for ages to fix this.
Its bootloader #59 and sim 2.01
I can acces it in the web http, through dreamup..
Tried the patched dreamup, with the dm800 repair file.
but get the "file to big error"
But i can flash through the web..
But ive tried a modern image, a BL 69 image..
And all boot to error.
Any ideas ?

Here is the web interface info
This is the ??? bootloader Web Interface.
If you see this, your box didn't boot to Linux.
Unless you interrupted the boot process, this usually means that you have no valid operating system in flash.
Don't panic! It's not a problem. You can just flash a new version and everything will be fine!
Otherwise, you can boot from network or compact flash. (Sollte jetzt gehen, wurde aber noch *nie* getestet! Nicht wundern wenns nicht geht!)
If you're about to give up, you might get help at the Dream Multimedia Support board!
Currently there aren't many other features...
You can download your current flash contents (64 MB) here, but please don't expect to be able to flash it back. It's merely a debugging feature.
This device's Serial Number is ?, and was built on N/A.
Booloader version: Dreambox Second Stage Loader BUILD #59, built 20080509

If you can flash with web browser , then flash an image from this link ,
Free Dreambox Images Download (Only for NEWB DM800 SIM2) (http://www.dm800sim2.com/)
try a bl75 image
or try this 72 image Digital Kaos - Downloads - DREAM ELITE clone bl 72 (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/images/2/dream-elite-clone-bl-72-1101/)

how have you established its bl59 and sim2.01 ,
Im not necessarily saying its that.
Its what the info in the dm800 webinfo page says....
Obviously it should be #76 but i reckon its a ****ed sim....
checked the sim and its 100% sim 2.01

put it back in and try the 72 image above , if it is a faulty sim , then World's No.1 HD satellite receiver - DM8000 (http://www.primusat.co.uk/) do a ferrari sim , suppose to be better stability and more up-gradable than sim2.01

If sim was faulty you would get message (SIM NOT FAULTY DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON ANOTHER)
Dreamultimedia
ERROR!
on display looking at your posts if you have no ca sim is fine it needs the no ca tutorial i posted if you follow that CORRECTLY you will have it working and as its sim 2.01 just use ss76c after flash of genuine image..!

i had a freind with a box that this happned to after a few days of using it no probs, all of a sudden, ERROR on boot up. tried allsorts to re-flash it and got the exact same errors as you
bootloader 59 when it should be 76
file to big error in dreamup
its dead send it back for replacement.
its not the usual no ca found error, although dreamup indicates that. on the display it just says
dream multimedia
ERROR
and not NO CA FOUND
i think its a sim issue but not too sure. i didnt have a spare to try out.

He doesn't have the above problem you are mentioning because box is able to be found via dreamup, and title says he has ERROR no ca, not ERROR only

Ive found out 99%, that it is down to the sim, And the Blob (Chip) being on the underside (As in the pic on this thread), stopping it from seating properly..
Cheers for the posts, keep you eyes out for these, there the new design, but have problems with the old slot type...

so all you get on lcd is
dreamultimedia
ERROR!
that is the only message you will get displayed with a faulty sim or faulty sim reader/components,
if you display
dreamultimedia
ERROR 01
NO CA
that is flash error

The LCD shows just error, but dreamup shows the ca error.
Apologies for the confusion.
so all you get on lcd is
dreamultimedia
ERROR!
that is the only message you will get displayed with a faulty sim or faulty sim reader/components,
if you display
dreamultimedia
ERROR 01
NO CA
that is flash error

yes if LCD shows just error its either sim or mainboard, if you get another sim 2.01 card to test..! but i have witnessed it before where sims are good but a fault in the mainboard somewhere causing this also.. if you can get your hands on another sim to test before splashing out 20 odd quid for a new sim2.01 card finding out its not that...

the 2 bubbles on the sim doesnt sound right , thats why i suggested a new sim , sim only has a chip on one side enclosed in a bubble , therefore the bubble on underside wont allow sim to seat neatly ,
as bubbles69 says , maybe best to try borrow one before splashin out

use a emery board to get rid of the bubble underneath on sim contact side, bubble on the top side of sim is on every sim 2.01
