You do have a few steps to learn but if you search carefully this forum for help, you should be able to complete the task.
How big are the 36 rar-files? Sounds like you would not have all for a complete DVD.
In any case, the files are a rar-archive split to smaller parts. If you have all the parts in the same folder and have Winrar installed (I guess a fresh winzip would do it too) and double-click the first rar-file, you should find the DVD-image file from the archive. Just extract the file (can do drag and drop or from the menus). If you get any error messages, you probably have some rar-files missing. You may also need a password, if the archive is encrypted.

Hi, i downloaded the zolookas guide but that asks you to put the dvd in the drive at a certain step. It doesnt mention anything about unzipping any files....

When u click on the first part, winrar catch all parts and starts to unzip them to one iso image.
Make sure all parts are in same folder.

Yes, winrar should automatic find next files without problem if they are in the same folder.
If you can extract the files without errors you should get one big file, that is an image from dvd. You can try to burn it back on dvd or mount it with virtual dvd drive.
Edit: sorry, i was too slow ;-)

Ok so the 1 to 36 files i downloaded were a waste of time. When trying to burn the iso it says theres 3 files missing!
SO ive downloaded 7.2010 das
Ive also got zolookas guide to installing and burnt iso to DL dvd.
So ive got to the step where you put the dvd in the laptop and run it says it will take 90 mins. Ive waited and waited and ive got a log error and setup could not continue.
I do not have a previous version of das on this laptop, would that make a difference? if yes can someone guide me to a fresh install download i can start again for the 3rd time?

The zolookas guide does not ask you to switch on the computer either, it assumes some basic steps being self-evident.
Did you read the guide very carefully, and repeat that three times?
You had better have a backup from your drive after a good XP installation so that you can go back to a clean computer if you screw up something with your DAS installation attempt (quite often a new attempt would be sufficient without restoring the previous hard drive state).
May I ask if your intention is to learn DAS or are you actually going to work with DAS to fix cars? I'd suggest you don't start doing any complicated tasks before you are confident about mastering the tool.

Im actually a it technician, but this i have to say is the most difficult instal/task ive ever had to do. And beleive me i do alot on a daily basis!.
I was up until 6am installing das. Towards the end of the install a file was being read for about 45 mins then it said it couldnt find it or somethign, the file ended #CFF.zip. Anyway It carried on installing after that but whenever i try to launch das i get this 'UNABLE TO FIND ENGLISH THESAURUS FILE' ..\THESAUR\002\THESAUGH.DBZ
any ideas?

Been there, done that. Sorry, that I can not provide any more useful advise but I feel for you. After messing with same problems I have since given up...

Hmmm im on the verge of giving up too. 2 days solid ive wasted trying to sort this out. Probably the hardest thing ive ever done in my whole life. All due respect to the ones who have helped on this forum, and the authors of all the guides but there needs to be a IN DEPTH guide done and not just a 1 to 5 step by step as its too complicated for that.
I currently have 09.2010 downloading and i will follow these steps http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f152/video-intall-das-xentry-09-2010-a-164767/ if it fails i certainly will give up and re order a replacement hdd from my chink friend that runs off vmware player. Hate it as its slow but it works.

Sometimes dl-dvd are hard to burn, maybe you can use a virtual dvd-drive instead of hardware dvd? I haven't installed it, so it's only a guess, i don't know if it works.

It really should not be very complicated, even I have done it numerous times.
The guides never cover every possible detail. We cannot state any requirements for better coverage either. If one is not happy with the existing guides, he/she is welcome to make a better one.
Language issues are often forgotten. This is why it is better to try to avoid extremes but follow the main stream at least to start with. Use English XP and install DAS in in English first. This is just an example, not necessarily the most common problem at all.
If you still face problems, perhaps you should find a forum member close to where you live and have the SW installed for you. I just did it for a forum friend from the US while I'm from Europe myself. Just cannot afford doing that too often (no money involved except me paying the HDD return postage).

I installed more than 10 times trying out everything from 01.2010 through 11.2010 and never got it completely right. I think that there might even be some intentional crap downloads out there to throw off guys like us. Anyway I did get DAS 11.2010 to work only to find out my mux is shot. Tough luck I guess. There are some sellers out there selling complete systems for around 1.500 Euros but then I probably won't need the system more than 1-2 times a year.

The only thing installed on the laptop so far is winrar and sp3 thats it. .Net framework was never installed....
I just tried installing .net framework 1.1 myself then tried the prepare.bat still wont work. Tried uninstalling .net framework 1.1 and tried prepare.bat again... still wont work.
So ive wasted another DL dvd and 24 hours of downloading 09.2010 for nothing? arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I had exactly the same problem. To solve this you need to manually install .net prog and delete the corresponding entry in prepare.bat file. Just delete 2 lines.

Ok ive got a few t30s laying around so i tried on another and the prepare.bat worked ok. Ive finished everything now and xentry works OK but still when i open das or das sim or das english i get the same old error
UNABLE TO FIND ENGLISH THESAURUS FILE
..\thesaur\002\thesaugb.dbz DAS WILL EXIT.
Unless someone has a work around to this? i will give up.
When i goto C:\Programme\DAS\Thesaur
It is completely empty? is that right? can someone check theres? also what is your target for DAS? right click properties>target? Im thinking my target is wrong or i dont have any languages installed....

A couple of tips although you may have already gone trough them:
Double check your partition settings and the letter that are assigned to your hard drives, a lot of times people fail at this part of the install and tend to get errors during the install.
Make sure you are doing the install straight from the user account, not the admin.
if you get a error saying you need to reboot (some thing like 6002-) just hit ok and retry on next reboot.
Triple check zooklas guide and youll see that once you've done all this it should go smooth.
If you need more help ask away mate!
hope this helps!
Good luck mate!

[QUOTE= Im thinking my target is wrong or i dont have any languages installed....[/QUOTE]
You are missing the English language on your install.
Use the search botton on the forum and youll find that there are solutions for other languages in this forum, get a pack and dump it into your tesaur folder and that should fix things.
other option is to decompress the cab folder yourself...

How did you conclude that your multiplexer is kaput instead of some minor fix missing from your installation?
I wonder if there would be any reasonable way to test the image against another one that has been proven to be good?

I cannot remember the version you installed but this is likely the way DAS should run, unless you modify the start command. Select properties for the DAS icon and change "XD" to "PKW". One of the multiple details that have been posted a million times over several years but may not have been mentioned at some of the guides.
