Is this a mistake from aototech, they talk about off-line SCN-coding but the DAS screen-shots are only about off-line programming (enabling of off-line programming was already discussed a long time ago here).

I understand that for off-line scn coding you need the password for individual control unit and VIN and day. Some members here can generate these passwords.

This is DAS password generator but not SCN generator, no one can generate SCN code at the moment. The only way is to connect their central server in Germany.

Do you have this tool? I had a look at their website and found no info on how they arrange SCN coding. Are they still reading the SCN code from MB servers, meaning a subscription is needed (either via the tool manufacturer or individual subscriptions)?

At ?15.000 one can get the genuine tool too and no need to wait for 207 and 212 support.

Yes I understand the question on the basis of the description at Aototech's website. I thought they did not mean SCN-coding but it would be good to have this properly confirmed. Perhaps one of us should ask them (although the Chinese answer would probably be "yes" irrespectively if the question was "is this a mistake" or if it was "can you really support SCN coding").

I've used SCN 2007.1 kodirun in full devolloper star ........ and I made ***8203;***8203;flash 7g of 221 ***8203;***8203;.... so I guess it is possible OFLINE ... now dispose 2 star 2008.1 and 2009 ... . 11 and do not SCN who owns this kegen ofline

Before you purchase a tool that can do off-line SCN-coding, try to figure out where to obtain the actual SCN-code for off-line coding.

There was a thread at this forum explaining how to enable off-line coding, you should not need to spend your money for that.

Just as DB_member says to do offline coding you need the scn code. I updated the software on 2 E classes and it asked for scn coding but since i couldn't supply the code i just left it. I have seen no problems with those cars. I think updating the software don't erase the scn coding it just wants to check the coding but if you replace the ecu then it needs the scn coding. I'm not sure about that but like i said i seen no problems with the ones i programed.

I can confirm this also. I updated S Class trasmission and although the software requested SCN code, it still updated the the control unit and repaired the problem without entering SCN.
Can any other members confirm if this is possible in other cases. Maybe it is just key progamming that wont work without SCN?

When you upgrade the ECU software, it is programmed into a flash memory . SCN Coding is contained in to eprom memory, and usually it not affected.

I'm afraid you are not talking about the same thing as others are (not exactly), if I got it right, you are referring to the pass-through option that as such is available in the US only. In Europe there is a similar option now but only for cars with the latest emissions requirements.

I am in the US. So the question was valid, where does one get the software to program MB controllers? Is the software already in DAS or is it separate? SCN coding IS PART of the programming process and it seems the challenge is getting the SCN string. You are right the pass-thru option in the US only covers emission related controllers (mostly ECM and TCM) from 2004 model forward. But at least one can get it done for $950 per year.

I think the issue is. Can a controller be flash updated from DAS/Xentry without SCN. DAS will not complete programming of new key or engine control without SCN. However, with other controllers, even though DAS will request SCN, it will still complete the flash update without SCN update. Problem is how do you know before you start the update if it will finish ok.

I have problem when trying to do scn coding for any control unit online it don't open the page to enter user name and password and it says some thing wrong with sd control not configured correctly
and this is fault number

Autologic does it

They havent cracked it though, as it takes an hour for the SCN code to be generated. They just go to daimler and get the coding on your behalf

if they have done a vehicle with same config before then you get that coding instantly

but it doesnt show you the coding so someone cannot just stick the autologic box in training mode and get them to build an scn code, shame!

i updated w210 cdi engine ecu ,asked scn and ignore it and offline programmed it.
Worked as offline programming not offline scn.
I closed software after it,because was aksing for scn.
Ecu is working ( mpps see programming version 11.2010, thats the das version i did programming )

The other guys lying on the web, talking on the subject of off-line SCN are the ones on ebay a page with under the name of Captech_obd.
I bought the tool, and, before buying the tool, I asked about the off-line SCN and they told me they could do the SCN offline, but, they lied to me, and I payed for the tool $ 3,500.00 and guess what? The tool did nothing of the off-line SCN
