Arrived today a 03 Astra-G, Z16SE engine with Multec ECU, Its been to the stealers and they said it needs a new engine ecu ?1200 + fitting. Plugged in and got a P0340 code Camshaft Sensor Incorrect Signal, cleared code left it on idle to warm up, fan came on, went off re-scanned, no code. pulled it out of workshop SVS light came on, scanned again same code, cleared code again, left it for an hour or so to cool down a bit, started it up, left it idling for a good half hour, no SVS light no codes BUT as soon as you touch the throttle on comes the SVS light, Checked t\belt, scoped the cam and crank sensors everything OK there. I have seen that the ECU's do fail on these and they go into limp home mode and stay in limp home mode if the ecu is ~~~~ooed but this one is driving fine even with the SVS lamp on, anyone had this before ????
Thanks

now as a member of thebadgarageschemce.com you should be fully aware that you tell the customer it's $310+vat for ecu to be repaired (#250 cost from ecutesting.com)
then download off specalist vauxhall breaker ecu and loop and transponder for $160+vat- charge bloke said $310+vat and put on invoice "repaired exchange ecu - we have your money now ~~~~ off"

Happened to me today. Excactly same problem in a Z14XE engine and the problem was the ecu.
Even mine wasnt in limp home mode even when light was on.
The funny thing is that in the last two days 3 opel (2 astra g and 1 corsa c ) came to my garage all with faulty ecu. The other 2 when they were in limp home mode they rev up to 3500 rpm the most but they had problem in accelerator pedal position sensor pin of ecu.

had this before when ecu warmed up the cam sensor was losing the 5volt supply voltage. the problem was the ecu was brakeing down when hot. when cold the supply voltage
was fine.
if this is the case and you want a cheap fix take a feed from the map sensor supply to the cam sensor supply.
have done this and it works

Thanks for the info, I dont think the +5v is brakeing down as I was still getting a scope reading when the SVS light came on and the code flagged up.
Thanks

Had a good look at ECU tonight under super bright light with me X10000000000 loupes on, cleaned all gel away, all link wires from PCB to loom sockets are good so looks like component failure.
What did you guys do, s\hand, re-con or new ??
