I'm seeking for some help...

I have here a 1998 528I DME 41.0 5WK9 0322 Index 11 part # 1 429 861 petrol automatic steptronic with ews 3 (old key not the diamond one) damaged and dme too!

In my old parts bin i have a 1997 BMW 528i DME 41.0 5WK9 0322 Index 10 part # 1 429 861 which i still can read a full BIN dump.. Is it possible to replace the existing VIN number in this older unit and IMMO OFF to get me able to fix this car?

Hello, I passed an MS41 ecu, from an E36. They are preparing the car for races, it brings the original that starts well, but they brought me another one that they want to ride. I did immo off, but I do not have to compare the checksum, I wrote it to prove but it does not start. May be due to checksum.
Can anyone see me files ?, They are read by line K. The "MS41" file, is the original that starts well, "ori2" is the ecu to be mounted as it comes, "immo off" is the File without immo, just need to correct checksum.

You don't need full flash. Just add F0 to the figure at adress 0008 (or 4008 at the full flash) correct cheksum and all done.

Hello,

I have an E30 ex 316i, and have installed a m52b20 there.
The E30 is without EWS, air conditioning and other equipment. Empty House :D
What else needs to be flashed into the ECU so that the E30 runs like this?

Have to get a m52b25 ECU to the engine with ews and many other things. (E39 EU 323i Manual)
Then I flashed a stock Rom from a M52b20, there I removed the EWS, in byte 8.
If I switch on the ignition, then the fuel pump does not start, the relay does not pick up.
The analater turns, but no spark.

This is a EWS Problem?

What else needs to be flashed into the ECU so that the E30 runs like this?

Im doing a swap with a bmw e39 523i engine from 1997, into an 1994 e36 compact.
The e36 doesnt have immo, nor speed sensor for the ecu to know.
I have been told that without the speed sensor the engine will be limited to 5k rpm, but I cant test it either as the car doesnt start

I have been looking everywhere to find a way to start it, even making my own file to avoid bothering you, but failed miserably.

Can anybody help me?

A friend if mine give me his 323i MS41 (already ews off) just for try and with his ecu car starts. So I wonder that loom and car is ok. I'm wrong?

Hi, i just had the same problem, they told me that the file is bad, but turns out that the file is fine. Kind forum member @nokius helped me with the file.
Dont desolder the chip, thats just extra work and not necesary, unlike what they told you here. What tool did you use to read the file? Some tools dont read the full file, kess v2 reads it complete just fine.

First off you shouldnt write the file from another model into your ecu, you could brick it. it has to be the same model, and best if it has the same ecu number. Even though files differ from the same number ecu's. The file you have should delete the ews fine if done right, no need for the full file.

Have you checked the codes the car gives?

Also check the fuses in car, and in the engine loom. My issue was that one wire wasnt receiving 12v.

Oh, I missed that part. Then its the file thats bad. You might need another tool to get the full file, or either the file you are trying is not done correctly.

Have you tried to read the file from your friends ecu and compare it with your ecu file? Was the ecu you are trying working correctly before?

As i mentioned before, I read my file with a kess v2, 256kb file, and got it done by nokius. It started right up.

I tryed to read with kess v2 , error no read. I tryed also to change pullup values, nothing to do. The only way I have to read 256kb full file is desoldering. I can do that, but here we have mates that have deleted ews from 24 kb file....... so I was hoping to save time :)

Hello, i have problem with ms41 in bmw e36. we swap engine from e36 year 1997 to older model year 1992 and engine not start me. We have plugged only one stecker in engine electric. for two stecker not have plug. In first stecker is removed pin7 with green cable. All is in photo. Ori file is in attach. if delete immo with software "MS41 EWS delete" and write this to ecu so car wont start. if reread file, so is in ecu original file without changes with ews on values. Cant find ews module in car year 1992. Thank you for help. File is read and write with kess.
