Hi All,
I modified my Wii in 2009 to load games from a USB drive. I have all the original discs and have bought my son TinTin for Christmas. Alas, when I load from the disc or from the backup onthe USB drive I get a black screen. I am aware that:
1) My CIOS are incorrect
2) I will need to change my HS from WBFS to FAT32 to get TinTin to work completely (neek2o-setup-installation-guide (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f16/neek2o-setup-installation-guide-241036/index2.html))
But TinTin should atleast load and play so hence my CIOS must be wrong? I am sorry to ask but what CIOS are correct to run TinTin? Syscheck.csv below...

IOS249[38] (rev 14): Trucha Bug, ES Identify, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS250 (rev 65535): Trucha Bug, ES Identify, NAND Access, USB 2.0
I see you have the old IOS249 installed which TinTin should run with I suggest you install the D2X v7 WAD PACK (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/d2x-v7-wad-pack-1846/). That will add the dx2 IOS245 to IOS251.
Mine runs ok but it locks up after an hour but at least it runs, I haven't done the neek2o fix as it means changing the drive format.

Thanks for the info, I am now with my Wii....and I now have the correct CIOS for TinTin and have updated to the latest USB Loader GX.
TinTin now plays and I have installed the new homescreen link for the new USB loader....but, there's always a but...
1) Need for Speed Montreal - crashes on load - I expect this is a CIOS problem?
2) Moire importantly when I click on the Sean White snowboarding game in USB loader the blue DVD image appears but the 'game' music does not play as it does for Wii Party, other Nintendo releases and Zelda.
When I click on the details for the game it says
"Could not open the WiiTDB.xml"
Is this CIOS related, note all games were working before the CIOS and USB loader update?

p.s.
I still have the old USB loader (it crashed once I updated the CIOS) - I stupidly don't know which wad I need to uninstall to get rid of it.
I thought I would mention it as it may be causing the problems.

I don't have Need for Speed: Montreal but I have all the others, Carbon, Hot Pursuit, Nitro, ProStreet, Undercover and the latest one The Run and they all work with the default IOS249.
The WiiTDB.xml should be in the config folder on the SD card I thing its used to download the game pictures from WiiTDB.com

I wouldn't have thought you needed to unistall the old IOS249 before you installed the new one it should overwrite it.
Does your sysCheck still say
IOS249[38] (rev 14): Trucha Bug, ES Identify, NAND Access, USB 2.0
not
IOS249[56] (rev 21007 Info: d2x-v7alpha5): Trucha Bug NAND Access USB 2.0 ?

Can I ask why you are still using the beta version of d2x and not the v7 final from http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f16/d2x-v7-cios-pack-install-instructions-235450/ it doesn't make that much difference but the final version is just a bit more stable and polished with all the known bugs fixed

Well he is the same as me I downloaded your Digital Kaos - Downloads - D2X v7 WAD PACK (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/d2x-v7-wad-pack-1846/) and everything works ok. I've seen your Digital Kaos - Downloads - d2x v7 Final (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/d2x-v7-final-1913/) and I asked is the final version worth it and you said it fixed a few bugs. Until I have any bugs I'm sticking with the first d2x v7.
The fact was he couldn't get TinTIn to even load now he can with d2x but he will have to use neek2o to run it fully.

I changed the link from the beta version to the final version in the d2x cios and installation thread when the final version was released and what you say is fair enough if it ain't broke for you then don't fix it. I changed to the final purely due to the fact that I use partial nand emulation for gamesaves, I know you don't use this feature which is probably why you haven't really noticed any bugs

Keith,
The problem now is that half the games (I don't have many) don't load from the drive anymore. TinTin does as does Wii Party but NFS crashes instantly and may games when attempted to load revert back to the home screen:
Transformeers Revenge of the Fallen
MarioCart Wii
Shaun White Snowboarding
I'll try the final release WAD and report back.
Thanks

driver sf should work with default settings on gx with the d2x wads you have installed keith. If it doesn't reload to 250 and run it but i'm sure it is 249. You have the same cios pack and loader as me and driver sf works for me mate

quick question charlie are those games that are not loading ntfs games that you are trying to play on a pal wii without the region free setting ticked in priiloader. If they are not or you have region free selected re rip them to the hdd they should all work as there is no known issues with them and can only be a bad rip

Yes, there are a lot of differences in the number of IOS! Looks like we have a way to find the issue. What's the best way to get hold of those IOS in a consistant way?

Why not just use modmii to redo softmod , when its done downloading all files , and your ready to do softmod , just skip the Installing Bootmii and Homebrew channels as I assume youve already got them ,
its what I always do when updating

Well Charlie all I can do is give you a list of all the wads I have in the wad folder which you can Google and find a download site I also have 26 wads on the root of the SD card as that is where I was told where they should go not in the wad folder. That doesn't really matter as you can select which folder has the wads in MMM.
In wad folder:
cIOS16-v257.wad
cIOS30-v6174.wad
cIOS36-v3094.wad
cIOS50-v4889.wad
cIOS60-v6174.wad
cIOS70-v6174.wad
cIOS80-v6174.wad
cIOS202[57]-v5.wad
cIOS222[38+37]-v4.wad
cIOS223[38]-v4.wad
cIOS236 v65535.wad
cIOS249[38]-v17.wad
cIOS250[57]-v19.wad
IOS15-64-v1032.wad
IOS36-64-v3351.wad
IOS38-64-v3867.wad
IOS53-64-v5406.wad
IOS55-64-v5406.wad
IOS236.wad
Plus the latest d2x wads
IOS245[37]-v7b1d.wad
IOS246[38]-v7b1d.wad
IOS247[53]-v7b1d.wad
IOS248[55]-v7b1d.wad
IOS249[56]-v7b1d.wad
IOS250[57]-v7b1d.wad
IOS251[58]-v7b1d.wad
Plus my Forwarder channel wads:
MPlayerCE V2 dol forwarder.wad
Neogamma R8 Final-NG8F.wad
USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder.wad
USBLoaderCFG - UCXF - IOS58 v8b Alternative.wad
Wiiflow Forwarder Channel.wad
wiimc106.wad
What you would have to do is look if my version number is bigger than yours is install that updated wad.
Over you have installed them all do another sysCheck and compare the differences.
I also downloaded NUS Downloader (NUSD) v1.9 (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/NUS_Downloader) where you can make your own wad files of any IOS number in any version you select.

Umm, I have some corrupt images. I reloded them from the source discs and they are now fine.
I have seen other posts around the web about corrupt images, is it something that happens due to WBFS? Or is my hard disc on the way out?
Are there any tools to verify the state of the disc backups?

Your syscheck is now almost spot on charlie you are only missing cios 236 which is just a more stable upgrade from ios 36 patch. I have no idea why wbfs files sometimes become corrupt for no apparent reason but it usually happens when they crash while being loaded by a usb loader so I can only assume they get screwed up when running a bad cios. As I said before just get rid of them and re rip, if they worked before they will work again. Quick tip.....If your original is damaged or lost lol use either wbfs manager or my preferred option wii backup manager to extract it as an iso back onto your pc then send it back the other way creating a new wbfs file.

NFS Monrteal is the only one where the disc is lost (really is) - interesting that extracting the ISO from WBFS and then back again works.......very odd.....
I'll update IOS 36 and report back on NFS

give me 2 mins mate and I will upload cios 236 for you and extracting them and putting them back doesn't always work but it's quicker than downloading them again. I have to do it with disney universe everytime I move it from one drive to another so I decided just to keep a copy of the iso on my pc.

HH / Keith,
Thanks for all your help with this:
1) Hrd disk was knackered hence the odd game issue!
2) ALL CIOS up to date
3) Neek2o installed and working!
One comment would be to include WiiFileExplorer and SysCheck as recommneded other home bre apps, or more simply HomeBrew browser which will allow the others to be downloaded - just my two pence worth (I probably missed something)...
Well, a heart felt thanks for helping me with this, for one minute I thought I would have to be loading from DVD which wouldbe knackered by my 3 kids in minutes.
Is there somehow I can make a domation to the cause...?

Yes drives do go faulty Charlie as they are mechanical devices.
Yes I mensioned in one of the threads that I had WiiFileExplorer and sysCheck on the SD card. I've looked at WiiFileExplorer but I haven't played about with it as in Windows Explorer to see if you can move or rename files so I can't really tell you thats its very useful.
I also mension Wii Earth which works ok for a bit of fun. SysCheck is useful to show your system IOS's but again it isn't something you need to use weekly and when we ask for a report on here. There were a couple of games on mine which I showed you the links to Mahjongg Wii and Rokoban which I do like.
Happy gaming Charlie. ;)

I found WiiFileExplorer useful to delete the .bin file after I installed the games. I think the best option is the Homebrew browser as the the other apps can be downloaded via that.
Homebrew Browser - WiiBrew (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_Browser)
Gaming is working well we me making a fool of myself dancing to an 80s dance classic. I think this neet2o idea is very good - the sytesm loads off the HD and no more modding the flash core. Iciing of the cake would be a one off copy of the miis and dave games although doing it via the standar system was not mad but I only have 10 games.
As said, I'd like to contribute somehow as I would have suffered a lot longer without the forum's help!

you will be able to get it run with the correct cios and loader but it will still freeze at every autosave and you wil have to restart the wii to continue. Neek2o or sneek is the only way to run the game properly

Updating the cIOS may make it work but it will lockup after a while.

As HH says the only way to get this work is with Neek2o.
