Black screen on New DS games on my R4 Upgrade

Have no idea how to get new games to work on my R4.
My R4 says: R4
Upgrade
Revolution for DS
(NDSL/NDS)
R4 cards - Nintendo ds r4 - R4i sdhc Official website (http://WWW.R4ISDHC.COM)

Do i have a clone R4 and if so how can i patch games to work on it, or is there a new kinda firmware that i can use, I hear about wood whatever that is? I'm a bit of a noob. thx

I have the same issue the old games work but no new games i even tried the max loader process but still when i switch my ds on it says R4 III revolution for ds v3.11 my old games work but the new games dont it just comes up as a white screen

I have also tries the MaxCrass method with no joy, the game is a black screen on loading :-( . Guess the only way is to get a new card, anyone any suggestions on the best to buy. i.e. m3i or ackercard etc?

unfortunatly i don't think that woods firmware will work on it...

you might be able to use retrogamefan firmware to update it.

you will have to google retrogamefan and download the latest version.

when you open the file you should a text document called "known cards that use dstt fimware"

this will give a list of known working cards and instructions on how to use.

before you start messing with the firmware, you should make a backup of your sd card or better still, use a spare sd card.

Tried both links you suggested, unfortunately its stuck on the R4 loading screen and doesn't get to the game menu :-( Ive read you can patch games, any step by step guides on doing that are welcome, thx

you should at least get the original firmware booted up...


tbh, you might be bettter buying a newer card...

you will get a decent card for under 20quid, then just use your current sd card...

Tried both your highlighted fixes with no joy. I did notice there is a hyphen in the websites you suggested and on my r4 card there isn't a hyphen? I guess a new card is probably the best fix. I want to get Moshi Monster game to work for my daughter. A patch would be welcome too. ;-)

moshi monsters was a right problem rom, most cards struggled with it..

there are patched versions out there.... but i dunno if they will work on your card...

i'll find a patcehd version for you to try..

well if you are using a dslite yoyu can get an r4 card for around 2 quid delivered..

with woods firmware , it will play almost all ds roms.. :)

only drawback is that these cards do not support sdhc microsd cards, so the largest sd card you could use would be 2 gig..

No there isnt any web adress i cant remember where i downloaded the firmware from, it was the only firmware thatbworked for that card

you see the problem is , there are loads of differnt versions of your card.
oficial support has stopped for all of them now..
but for some of them there is un-official support..

problem is you need to kow exactly what card it is...

i like acekards because they are easy to use and well supported.
with an acekard you will be able to play almost all ds/dsi roms on any of the consoles. (with the exception of maybe the very latest roms, but firmware gets updated every couple of months or so, then the newer games work).

Oh ok thats sounds great, is there things to look out for like original and clone cards? Also where can i buy that acekard from? And does it support 4gb micro sd cards
