Hi Guys,

I have a friend who buys mainly E46 BMWs from Italy to make up them a bit and then sell on here in hungary, but it is quite common that the cars only come with one key, or even if it has two the second only starts the car...

We have loads of USED E46 keys here so the question is given! How can we make the used keys to work with the cars?

1. is there a manual method for this - liek reporgramming the key ad EWS?

2. I've found the following tools at my favourite diag tool suplier:

-BMW EWS Editor V3.2.0
-AK90 BMW key programmer V3.19
-BMW EWS reader/key programmer
-BMW key programmer

Would one of these work?

@VTS_Tibi.
I do use the AK90 and it does almost all of EWS, the only one I dont risk to read with it, its the EWS 4.3. High risk of corrupting its content.
Once you have read the EWS you can add a new key/transponder to it.
The remote part, as you may know can be added manually.

Hope it helps.
Regards.

Once you have read the EWS you can add a new key/transponder to it.

Would that still apply to used keys?

And can I input the km value and VIN number of the owner's car into the key from the scrapyard using the AK90?

You can't reuse e46 keys, remote or plain, unless you replace the elmos chip ( which i can't find a supplier for) or take off the aerial and put a 7935 in its place, in which case it won't recharge the nicad, but if you do either you need to read the ews dump and program a new chip so you're making a new key.
You might as well buy new china keys with replaceable batteries instead of going round scrapyards because you can only use the pcb out of the scrap keys IF its any good

Friend, that you can just swap transponder on used keys, with a new one for your car, thats for sure.
About if you can edit KM and VIN number on key, cant tell you for sure, but I think yes, if not with AK90, then with EWS editor.

You can reuse these if you get the password from the ews they are matched to.

If you had the password from the original ews, what would you do with it? Does that unlock the 7935 and make it reprogrammable.
How do you put the password into the 7935 to make it open again

Use the password+key number to unlock the elmos chip and then you can write in the new data.

if the password is known the tp data in any 7935 chip can be changed and the same goes for the vin that is written in as part of the keys id and would need the password to change it, the mileage alters everytime you insert the key after a few mins the car writes and keeps modifying the km in the key

Sorry VTS tibi for sidelining your post but this is now getting good,

So am I to understand, that if i have the password from the original ews that the 7935 was programmed to, Can i blank and re use that chip using original Zedbull ??

I always thought that the programmer you used, for instance (zedbul), locked the OTP part of the chip, and only that programmer, or the password from that machine could unlock it.

Original keys don't have a 7935 they have an ELMOS chip.
Find a supplier of blank ELMOS chips and your problems are over.

As Fallen says, original keys comes with elmos tp.
If we read EWS from our car, make ready any PCF 7935 in the position you desire (normally above position 3).
Take the key board, desolder the elmos chip, take it apart, put the programmed PCF 97935 into the key shell.
Go to car and start it.
Remote can be manually programmed.
As said before, i havent edited VIN and KM in key data.

Thanks.

Would that chip work? Chinese sell fake ICs so often!

And how much is one?
