Tried it on serial eeproms - ok as usual, also tried with 68HC908AZ60 3K85K and 9S12H256 1K78X and no verify errors (these are an old Ford dash and Renault EPB I'm sure these had the odd error before). Clone is the one with the plastic round edged case with dark blue-ish PCB. It was originally V4.5 when new.

Why not! Of of course you can repair your xprog after short circuit, xprog is like all another electronic devices.
Which pin has short circuited with fis module? Or open your xprog and have a look in wiring who is connected the pin who was short circuited, take a multimeter and make measurements.

Did anyone notice that when you read unlocked MCU and than lock it and read,you will notice that last two lines are not readed.

Eeprom and Flash must written to atmega64, if you need ftdi chip eeprom tell me i will send it here.

After new reflash and if the counter remain it can allow 208 shots of read and/or write with good results. When the counter reaches zero you will experience the same as it was. Btw, I can try your dumps by myself and monitor the counter but still no time :)

maybe you use my first tutorial who was with counter. Try to download again my updated tutorial counter fixed now. i read and write cas3 secured no problem eeprom and flash, after this update.

No.Comunication eeprom-flash in RISK MCU like Atmel is not depend form fusebits or lockbits.

I wonder why the counters initial value is D0h? Did that just happen to be the value when the chip was originally cracked/read? I wonder what will happen if the counter is set to FFh before programming the MCU. Using the tut from this thread has made my clone a lot better. To be fair the only trouble I have had since updating is a verify error on the flash in a 908AZ60 from a Renault parking brake module. Its no real hassle to reprogram the MCU from time to time anyway if the counter situation does cause verify errors.

It's XProg M V4.5 (first version from china with metal box).

When i read a 908 with xprog m and compare with dump from ETL i have not the same dump.
I have many error in xprog M dump.

I haved working v5.0 (metal case) xprogm but when I programming some HC9S12 processors I have verify error.

Well, yesterday I update ATmega64 with flash and eeprom from this post.
And when switch fuses and LockBits like on this pictures i have "Device is silent" and XprogM is dead:( (RS232 and USB)

But, when I enable Fuse "Watchdog" and program to Atmega64, my xprog is detected in program, but no any information and authorisations.
Now i have no any authorisations and no any data in info (see pic).

My shitty ISP programmer (Propox ISPcable II) always program fuse "Boot reset vector enabled (default adress=$0000);[BOOTRST=0)", even if I unmark this fuse.
I use other XprogM and all programmed ok.
I need to buy a better ISP Programmer:)

My xprog-m clone which I had with dongle v5.3 had problem reading MPC processors, always got stuck on "initialising device". I downgraded to v5.0 without dongle and then it was working fine. Suddenly i started to get the "verify error" problem so i thought solution was to use dumps from 1st post in this thread. Since changing firmware to the one in the 1st post of this thread I can no longer read MPC561 as I always get "initialising device". I can read eeproms fine. I saved original eeprom data but (stupidly) forgot to save original flash data. Anyone able to shed some light pls?

Just a note, you probably didn't get the correct data when you read the "original" eeprom/flash as it's protected (and the software checks that it's protected before continuing work).

Did you use the first dumps that link from the 1st post? Because there're several versions later down. I'm using one of the last dumps uploaded in this topic and they work for me. But I didn't test MPC's yet.

Now I'm not sure, but it could be I tried connecting some separate power supply back then - could it be I got something fried? (visual inspection doesen't show much).

When I had this problem and researched it out, the only free solution was to downgrade to 5.0 which worked great (until recently - but that's my own mess). Or purchase a chip upgrade to 5.4.5 or 5.4.8 (around 80-100USD -> ebay and alike).

When you are sure that fusebits and lockbits are correct you can try first disconnect programming adapter and then plug it to usb.

Indeed I had some problems with lockbits and also a really stupid problem with the wrong COM port set in the software. I finally figured it out and fixed that (and my files so I can do it again).

Hi guys!
I had Xprog-m V5.48 with Dongle that worked good for some time with Eeproms and some Mcu's (but not always), sometimes it gives "Device is Silent",
than it started having prolems with Eeproms too (Verify Error). Now it's giving " Error Check Connections VCC Pin Overloaded ".
I maked downgrade to V5.0 ( not from this thread ) and programming was ok but still having same error with all type of devices I try to read.

I had all sort of similar problems with this thing, purchased from chinese source. My version was 5.50, however. Discovered it was platform specific, and software related as well. If you had previous version of XPROG-M in your system, make sure you removed all traces of the old software. Do a brand new install. I bet your system is based on AMD processor 64bit or else. I was totally unsuccessful in a similar situation, but laptop with P4 worked OK. Chinese software has lots of bugs anyways, CDs they supply in the package have errors on them too, be aware of it.

no, I believe its cheap as they must fail often and they have protected the exe with a dongle so the chip is no good to other versions unless the software is cracked.

I had a quick look at there loader program it uses program within a program to help protect it, for anyone interest;

if you run the program it will display an error about dongle if you go into temp folder you will have one of the programs there;

if you XOR the loader with 'F5' you can extract all hex after around 0xEB9F4 this will give you a program with a key for an icon packed with upx.

it also has another few programs in it, but the extraction algo is slightly different as every few bytes theres a corrupted byte.

This is as far as I could be bothered to go with my limited reversing skills.


Pretty sure the dongle hides a file that is needed, or they patch something in the original exe.

Should be easy fix with someone with better skills

Hi all, there are many opinions regarding the update of this developer. I expose my problem is somewhat different.
Buy Xprog-m, almost 1 year ago (1 month), I did never work, but that was always leia 0%. I realized I had bought the version 5.3 and 4.x was soft (above was a Chinese).
Finding and proving, put the version 5.3 and now 5.45, how amazing USB, lets update the box. Now with version 5.45 asks me to login box, which gives me the # 14391 error, and can not find the hardware id register.
Try to return to the original version does not work (these either), as well as the 5.0 and do not let me update back again. Dongle came with the original box, but no longer does anything.
Does anyone know how to get out of this step?

I use X-prog m box 5.48 clone with dongle and it's good clone but cost much more from 100-150$ .... I have dongle and i use it and work like a charm .
Until now i try with m35080 with 5p080 with st95080 with other eeproms - perfect - read / write without any problems . Still not test it on mcu but i thing it will work i thing

These eeprom ATMLH324 is a eeprom 93C46, you can read the content without any problem and you can write into other eeprom, it will work without any problem, tested by me.

Hi all, I'm about to leave for impossible. Buy a Xprog-m 5.3, which always told me "device is silens", one year after thinking it over, I started to test you, until I got to install a version. 5.4, and give update. Now whenever I put both 5.3 and 5.3.6 and 5.4, always ask for update and I get there and do nothing more.
Buy another box 5.3, where each chip that gave probe error, simply was coming down to read and never ascended bar. When typing on "Verify" always had some error.
The returned it under warranty. Buy a chip box 5.5 "http://www.ebay.es/itm/251697776222?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649"
The mountain, now I can not find a compatible software with this, all 5.5 versions are giving me problems, not open the program or when habre give an error dll. Which that file I saw here in the forum and change it. Giving the same result.
I think eventually to work with Motorola, will buy a UPA, and leave the xprog in a closet.
Can anyone give me some light on this story without a happy ending ??

Thanks for the info, when i swap it for the 93c46 it won't let me update the driver. thought buying this chipset would cure my problem of x-prog not working but comming to realise it's a lost cause.

Fatal Error #14391 mean that the ATmega64 in the Xprog is not secured (lock bits LB1, LB2 is not programmed) so hardware registration in this case impossible.
Only way is use any ATmega64 programmer, write lock bits LB1, LB2 and retry xprog registration.

i bought an usbasp s51&avr but also have error power on failed , i have communication with it ay usbasp found on port but power on failed
i changed the atmega64a and check everything pins out soldering everything
i connect it to tl866a with 12v power to xprog and cheked everything
when i press check id it say ff ff ff
when i try to read it says succeful and also if i say erase it says succeful
when i try to program it begen to program and then error adress 0x00000 ,buf val 0x0c , ic val 0xff

Two good and reliable versions available on this forum, classic v5.0 and v5.5.1 but the later you need to wait for the crack author, serg2000 to activate it. No matter if it's china hw as long it's not defective.

new problem xprog was 5.3 with dongle updated to 5.5.5 but was not very stable and went back to 5.5.1 all good but after time starting to get verify errors and wrong reads so reflashed and something went wrong during the flash wit fuse and lock bits and now device is silent , desolder the eeprom and read it al FFFFF reprogram the eeprom with a dump now xprog identify when i put usb cable but it looks like the atmega is locked or busted , i put 4Mhz ossicillalator on crystal pin of atmega to see if it will wake up but no luck , Should i replace the atmega64a or another way to wake it up ?

hook up an oscillator (not a crystal) to the clock line on the atmega.
(any freq, usually 4MHZ)
erase the device with your ISP program, then reprogram the CLSEL fuse.

wel i ordered new ones , strange the eeprom i put in another programmer it all read FF FF FF and ftdi chip also no data the whole xprog got wiped clean no lights not reconized by usb nothing , so reprogram eeprom from a dump i got here reprogramed the ftdi chip and now it reconize it when plug in usb but for sure atmega is dead , options , buy xprog repair set $45 and maybe it stil not work , replace atmega $1.00 and reprogram , or new xprog , damm this thing started with verify errors and after reflash it is dead i use TL866A ISP to flash it never had problem even did it with AVR extreme burner so i am sure atmega is not locked but busted

finaly got replacement chip , used avr extreme to program it ver 5.5.5 and also had problem with it then i saw that one lock bit is not correct in the instructions and wow now my xprog lives again and is even better performing than what it use to it is more stable and reads faster than before , maybe they use cheap low quality chips in factory

I see here a lot of discussion about xprog and wanted to clarify some issues that I have with it. I tried to revive an old v5.0 by changing Atmega64 chip burned somehow.
Changed the chip and programmed flash and eeprom. Tried to connect with 908AZ60 but no chance at all. After setting proper parameters I see with scope that xprog is sending the first SEC byte and is echoed by AZ60 back properly. After that communication stops. Did someone of you guys ever managed to establish connection with a 68HC908xxx ? I can read/write HC05 and HC11 on adapters properly and also HC912 (R/W both flash and eep) so there should not be a hardware issue.
Any clue to read HC908AZ60 with xprog-m v.50 clone with blue pcb? Thanks in advance.

So try with 5.51 and software from Andre .......

Example read dump from atmel64 and write this dump for atmel64... xprog doesnt work.

So this means like backup from xprog, flashed later not work... wierd

And if you see content from fw dowloaded from.internet and readed from atmel64 is diffrent as well.... sooooo

Emmy, I don't know how's with ews3, but I think that if you kept your wires/connections as short as possible and use an external power supply you might have an issue with the stability due to voltage regulator or something similar. my2cents.

In this case not import what is long wire.But is very important soldering in corect post to PCB.Open documentation and you can see wher need soldering.Xprog read and write EWS 3 without external supply.

I have used it about 20 times, and everything was fine, until it started giving verification errors.
