Hi, I've asked this question in someone elses thread but they're not answering me so I thought I'd better start a thread of my own. I'm all set up and running my Alien 2 with spark and enigma 2. I've loaded the plugins collection to spark as it seems to be the most stable but now I'm stuck. I want to use a test cline first and then if that's a success I'll try a proper account.
Can someone tell me step by step how to put the cline into spark (or enigma2 if that's easier) I would very much appreciate it.
I've got the oscam converter but I'd like to know
Which plug ins to turn on
How to configure the ftp client (I'm told dream control centre is recommended)
and what to do then.
I have read through it but I'm hoping someone here can remember how daunting it was first time and help guide me.

OK I managed at last, basically I was FTPing to the wrong place and this is how I did it in the end.
First you need to convert your C or N line using the oscam converter that's available around these forums.
you FTP the oscam.server file from the conversion using dream control centre
In the left panel navigate to var/tuxbox/config/oscam.server and delete the oscam.server file (you could make a copy of it if you wanted)
In the right hand panel navigate to the oscam.server file you got from the conversion earlier and highlight/select it.
In between the left and right panels you will see two arrows, click the one pointing left and you will see the converted oscam.server file appear in the var/tuxbox/config/ box.
Right click the file and select attributes, if it isn't 755, change it to 755, otherwise leave it.
Save and exit DCC.
Exit DCC, enter menu via remote control, select plugins, select oscam4spark_tools.s and turn it off, then on again.
Exit menu and you should be good to go.
Please note- I'm not saying this is the best or the right way to do this. I'm just saying this is how I did it.
At last.
I've tried to put this in a more understandable format, please bear in mind, I'm not saying this is the right way or the best way to do this, it is the way I did it and it worked.
How to use Oscam with Spark on an Amiko Alien 2
Search for an app called CCcamconverter 1.1, or the latest version but bear in mind this is based on 1.1, unrar and double click the .exe to start.

At the top left click the corresponding button to your line. (in my case it was "N" lines).
At the top right click the "Open Cccam.cfg" button and navigate to your Cccam.cfg file you should have received from your server provider, select it and click "open".
If your Cline doesn't appear in the top half of the window then you have selected the wrong type of line, look again at the three buttons top left and select the one with a (1) next to it.
In the middle right you will see a button called "Convert to Oscam" (it has a red arrow on it) Click it
You should see some text appear in the bottom half of the window.
Just below the "Convert to Oscam" button are two more buttons,. Click "save oscam.server" and save it to a place you will easily remember. I use my desktop when working with single files.
Open Dream Control Centre.
Make sure you have green lines between P.C. Dreambox and Router.

This was my first time FTPing so I'm not going to go into detail. Needless to say you will have to configure DCC to your system and get the green lines between your various gadgets, one thing I will mention that caught me out for a while is the address of your Alien 2 can change sometimes after turning it off then on again.
When you have the green lines hit the "FTP" button near the bottom left corner.

In the left panel navigate to var/tuxbox/config/oscam.server and delete the oscam.server file by right clicking and useing the delete button in the menu that appears. (you could make a copy of it first if you wanted)

On your Alien 2, enter menu via remote control, select plugins, select oscam4spark_tools.s and turn it off, then on again.
Exit menu and you should be good to go.

Do these boxes not come with cccam pre-installed ? I haven't gotten a chance to play with one of these yet, but an upgrade to my dm500s is well due, and i'm prety sure the amiko alien is the way i'm gonna go. Kayanow, thanks for the information, I hope you might answer a question or two for me.
Have you found this box to be stable?
Is there a channel listing available, and a way of uploading it (a la dreamboxedit)?

the reason nobody answered the OP question in this thread or another is that it is banned in the rules ;)
as for dreambox or linux box questions, post them in the dreambox or vu forums here on DK
