I prefer to clean them aswell. I always use traffic film remover (truck wash) and then force regen them after. The ash washes out easily but if there really badly full of soot wash it out again after the forced regen (let it cool down first) to get the remaining ash out. I find the black soot hard to wash out, much easier when it's burnt to ash.

Hi,
Remember, always after the forced dpf regeneration must change oil and oil filter.
Regards.

Ohhhhhhhhh?!
So it measures the pressure in and out? Compares them?
Stupid question but why? Ok so it's emissions , but any other reason?
Total newbie at all this but want to learn

So the system can detect (if the pressure different is to high (from front to end) ) that regenerate of the DPF is needed and not blocking the exhaust system and lack of power as result .
Sometimes as the EGR is not closing and or Swirlflaps are not working correct then the filter is to soon dirty and has problems to regenerate (or can't regenerate.)
