I hate to go on(no I don't) about earlier days. Now I want you all to say aah!
I never saw sweets till I was 14 years old, other than 'medicinal sweets' like victory V, Zube Zubes and the old favourite Fishermans Friends.
I remember the days running up to the end of sweet rationing. The shop acroos from the school covered it's window so that we could not see what was getting put on display. On the big day the whole(well almost) school had formed a queue outside the shop.
It really was like a kids dream come true. Back to the post. What were we on about?

me and me mates had a good scam going for years, we had Oldham Brewery on our doorstep,
so we would climb over the wall and "borrow" a crate of empty Barr's pop bottles, so we could get the refund on the bottles,
did it for years and never got caught, kept us in fags as well, I remember you could buy fags in packets of 5 for about 14p.

My missus asked me what I wanted from the shop the other day,
So I said just get me a Marathon Bar.
She phoned me from the shop asking where do you get Marathon Bars from??
I said "just get me a Snickers Bar then If they have no Marathons"
