vag commander k + can help

hi everyone ..newbie so be gentle
i have bought the above tool from china for one specific detail crash data clearance . but it will not install properly i have had a few attempts ..i also have vcds .. but it cannot erasecrash data ..can anyone talk me through a succesfull install ?
the version is 1.4 .. i am also looking for a programme and firmware update for op-com .. any help appreciated ..i have other car diagnostic software to trade ...shuggy

Please stick for the moment to the V1.4China version, that came with the cable, or is referred in the other thread abouth this interface. Just for the record, i'd advise you to re-read that thread completely, as i and others advised people with trouble, getting this cable to work. A quick downloadlink for you that will help you with getting the stuff to work :

This works with the black cable withouth the extra supplied usb-key-stick (Dongle). I can't confirm this if it also works with that version of the cable, as i don't own that combo or heard success-stories that it indeed was functional with it.

First of all, try a freshly installed pc, with windows XP or lower operating system. XP works 75% of the time perfect.
And remember, to NOT put the OBD-side of the cable already into the car's OBD-port, while starting up the software. This mostly will give the problem as the software will not open up.
And DO NOT install that DOGdriver for starters. It will only create problems if you DON'T got a usb-key-stick (dongle) with the cable and the software supplied.

Hope this helps getting you up and running.

Desoldering not need,but it has protection in configuration - locked.

Like "vares" said, desoldering is not needed, but pic's are usually locked, thats why you need to know the configuration bits. Also, there are many pic programmers on the market, every one has its own software, configuration screens provided with dump are for reference only. I don't know which program is used in *.bmp file.

And, I didn't need to re-program my k+can interface, so I didn't test the attached dump myself. (but I had to "revive" my other interfaces, like vagtacho and vag-com...)

Aha, I didn't explain why you don't need to desolder the chip. When programming pics, you need max 5 lines, marked as VPP, VDD, GND, PGD and PGC. Producers of hardware interfaces always leave pads on pcb, connected with appropriate pins on pic-chip, so you can easily connect all needed lines to program the pic. :)

I explained this in my last post.
In fact, yes, it's about soldering wires to the chip. But this is not a problem, because there are prepared pads on printed circuit board (PCB), big enough to solder needed wires without any problems.

After hous of soldering practice, you'll be able to solder the wires direcly to the chip, don't worry :)

Emm.. the board is kinda 'laggy', and my post fell into 2 of your posts :) Thanks for all info ;) I'll be trying this out, within a few days. Hopefully my interface also has some developer/programmer-pads, otherwise it will be a nice solderingjob...

I am more than sure that your PIC in the adapter is locked.You can not read and rewrite this PIC.
Probably better to replace PIC on the new/clear and write this .hex,but remember that the new PIC flached with this .hex wil be locked also.
The best way - to fix this .hex - unprotect with debugger.

Or, to say it in different way, main problem is you can NOT make a backup of locked PIC.

having the same trouble as other users on here cannot get usb to work but i am running vista going to try some of the posts first and then try and get hold of an old laptop with window 98 or me xp.

This dump (bigger one - 78K) is OK, but as I know, is for 1.2 version.

Newbie here 2! I tried installing the VAG K+ CAN Commander FULL 1.4 without success also.
I will try some of the tricks here to install it. Reboot with cable ONLY attached to the PC after a fresh WINXP install.
Those virus threats scare me though! lol
