Pokeman, simple answer: NO.
Diesels do not have to support EOBD (the Europan version of OBD2) until 2004.

You can dowload the datasheet of the ELM 327 and use the hyperterminal to read the value.

evgeniyy, I am tempted to say Yes, but it all depends on the country where you live and whether or not some form of OBD2, EOBD or JOBD is required by Law. Usually when it's not required by Law a lot of vehicles do not comply with the rules and then you cannot use the an Elm interface.

Yes. I know: PCM scan, ScanXL, Pro scan - all these programs works fine with clone, but all of them don't support mode#08 of diagnostic. I don't sure that can be useful for me, but...

Good morning,

For your information:

1. Scanmaster ELM 1.9 (downloaded from DK Software Collection) - the same error like in 2.0. The codes of mistakes are incorrect!
2. Proscan 5.6 - don't want to work together with the clone ELM327. The message about incorrect type of adapter have appeared when I trying to connect. Is it known problem or just my vision?

2. Yes, You are right. ProScan 5.6 doesn't work with cloned ELM327 chips. Only work with SCANTOOL.NET adapters.

I tried SCM1.7, ScanXL, ProScan - all these programs gave me the same 2 GENERIC error codes, but the SCM1.9 gave 2 different GENERIC codes. I sure that SCM1.9 works not correct at my PC.

OBDII interface has specific codes for specific devices on the vehicle. The code will be returned for that device or the device being out of range for normal these codes are by manuafacturer. See: OBD-II Check Engine Light Trouble Codes (http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/)

Some ecu's will send the actual temperature from the broken sensor (e.g. -40 degrees Celsius), others will send a fixed replacement or a calculated value.

New to this forum as I am with diagnostics.
Problem : Have downloaded Easyobdii Version 2.2.0 when I connect to my Citroen C5 with the Elm 327 all is ok until I get to Vehicle online/offline and I get the reading that the vehicle is offline or no connection Anyone know where my problem maybe I have the ignition on full.

1 Install the sw
2. Replace theat two files ( exe file and the ProductLicenseFile.plf) into the MoDiag folder.
3 Strat the aplication and pres "next"
4 Press ACTIVATE
5 Choose "Computer bound (ELM and Mobydic interface) if you use one of this
6 Next
7 Cancel
8 Exit
When you'l star the aplication again you'll see that it is activated.
Sometimes you need to it twice but for it wasn't happed.

P.S. take care, don't update it because that activation it is just for this version.

All version of ScanMaster works very good with ELM327 clone without ScanMaster 2.0 which has bugs.
The all other ones works like a charm.

look into the settings
com port set manually and must be the same like the com port alocated for tool into the device manager.
protocol automatic
and elm327 universal
All work like a charm with 1.7 , 1.9 and 2.1

Can you show me your clone. What version it is?
If its 1.0 wiil dosent work but all version from 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 all works with that version of SM
Or maybe you make something wrong in the setup

i want to install modiag, but the licence file for activation dosn't worked... i can't test it but i want test it...so i have search and found another way to activate and test it ...now i will show you how dit i do it...

1. install modiag (but not the Update)
2. install Numega Smartcheck
3. connect the Interface to the car
4. start modiag and affilate it with the car that the Interface take the SN to Modiag. (required for activation)
5. start Numega Smartcheck
-----> 1. open SMARTCHECK
2. open modiag in SMARTCHECK (CTRL+O)
3. press F5 or the "Play"Button
4. modiag starts -> Autorize /Activate -> chose Interface boundet -> press next button
5. type 11111-22222-33333-44444-55555-66666-77777-88888 as aktivatecode -> press next button
6. it depense a error message "wrong key", dont close it
7. back to SMARTCHECK and press the end-button (red quadrat) and affirm
8. in SMARTCHECK under "View"press "Expan All"
9. in the left window of SMARTCHECK scroll completly down
10. the entry over txtActivationKey.Text (Mid or Len returns long 4 click) in the right window appears a long character string (the key), enter it into modiag without the last sign (-) , restart modiag , Key accept? then close
11. install update version 2.8.500
12. modiag start>setting>lizencedata>export
13. now we have got the lizence data and the activation.
