hi guys. Im looking for a replacement to upgrade my f5s and came across this box. The technical bits mash my head so I was wondering if you good people with more knowledge than me could dumb this down for me and tell me if its any good. Im looking to be able to watch 1 channel and record another with a good epg.

Thanks in advance for your comments

Well the only way you're going to be able to watch one channel and record another using this receiver is if both channels share the same frequency, the TM 5402 only has a single tuner. Besides that it's a decent reciever, although some same that the picture quality is better on the M1 & M2 version which are no longer available.

Thanks for that. Somewhere in the write up it says you can re off 2 and watch another but like you say there is only - tuner. That's what confused me.

It can be a little misleading i will try and explain with the following attachment:

http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=296381&stc=1

All those Channels are on the same transponder database so the TM marketing blurb says something like Record 2 channels while watching a 3rd on the same transponder, So on that transponder you could record say Tru TV and More Movies while you watch Travel channel exciting i know but thats the general idea one transponder holds an X amount of channels so you can record 2 and watch a 3rd from any single transponder.

Dont get me wrong the TM5402HD is a great box i have one myself but for the price of a single tuner satellite receiver these days you could pick up say a Vu Zero Linux Enigma2 receiver which will do far more than the technomate can do in a month of sundays, there are also TM E2 receivers the same as the Zero same price as well.

I think the 5402M3 is around ?119 and the Vu Zero is ?99 and the TM-Nano SE which is identical is also ?99, Also look at other brands at a similar price. Coming from an F5 the next logical step would be a Linux E2 receiver ideally

We cannot talk about the Cline's or any type of discusssion due to forum rules all i will say is you must have the phantom patch installed to get into the Biss key and Softcam menu:

Type 8280 into remote control and this will give you the Biss key Menu

Type 8281 into the remote control and this will give you the Softcam menu which is the part we do not discuss.

Both of the above will only work with the phantom patch installed

You dont need the 'ADDON' for the M3 version of the 5402 its already built into the Patch, just enter 8281 into the remote will give you what your looking for

Hi, I am back again. I believe this is now the right forum for my queries.
Further to my achievements: I am beginning to understand my TM 5402 HD M3 CI super + much better from day to day. But an enormous amount of patience is needed. Since I cannot see a signal on my receiver, I'm not sure whether my dish is pointing at the correct satellite. Would the signal show when the channels haven't cleared? First the good news : I managed to patch and install the codes via usb stick. Otherwise the codes 8280 and 8281 wouldn't work. However, I'm not certain to have the dish in the correct position because after following the instructions the ITV and BBC channels still didn't clear. On my receiver the bar at the top should go from red to blue and orange showing that I have contact with the correct Satellite. Ths has never happened. However I got other signals e.g. eurobird9 at 9e, 4.8e sirius 2/3, Bornum1 at 56E, 31e optus. This I did to find out whether my dish is pointing correctly, but i am more confused that ever now. I suppose I must now do a new rest to cancel everything and start again.
Another question: if I can access the CAS and BISS codes, is it necessary to insert all the apid codes and TV names via keyboard manually?
Regards

HI
When you are locked onto your satellite, the bar at the top should be orange / blue, the transponder for the said channels just to confirm is 11495V 44100.
You should then be able to scan in the said channels. Go to each channel in turn and action the BISS KEY. The HD channels take a bit longer to sort out.
THE FOLLOWING INF I HAVE FROM ANOTHER FORUM.
1 GO TO MENU
2 GO TO EDIT CHANNELS
3 GO ADD CHANNELS
PUT IN 11495V 44100
ADD CHANNEL NAME (BBC 1 HD )
VPID 7501
APID 7502
PPID 7501
VIDEO H264
AUDIO MPEG4
PRESS YELLOW ON REMOTE (SAVE)
EXIT
THEN GO TO CHANNEL - PRESS 8280 ON REMOTE,
SELECT THE LINE THAT YOU REQUIRE TO USE FOR THE CHANNELS ON 27.5W
PUT IN THE CODE, EXIT , SAVE.
After all that the channel should clear.

Hope this helps

Not used iptv myself but m3u files can be found free or at cost on the net and downloaded to the box as the patches or softcams are.
