hey guys
i know many like me dont know where to find the key cutting code location for different cars , some is door lock , some on the ignition, some is 5 digits , some is 8 digits , different cars has different codes in different location and some u only find it by OBD tools or by VIN or by dumps.

if its possible to place here on this thread the location of each code for each car for those who u know and like that we can make a nice database that i m sure will help many many including me :)
would be better if we can include picture :)

Most Acura and honda all locks on car have code stamp last 4.
most lexus and toyota non transponder passager side door lock. Transponder base system have no lock on passager side, so they move it to the driver side.
Saab the trunck lock has the code stamp. Non h.s.
vw beetle driver door lock is stamp

Useful thread this...
Suzuki mostly on door lock too - Drivers side (in UK, passenger if LHD, until like Ray-Ray says only one door lock - then it's on that) always usually stamped near top/side of barrel.

Classic VW beetle, bus, karmann ghia etc - code on all locks & ignitions. Door locks/handles sometimes need the end cam removing to see code underneath.

Did a 1997 Celica the other day there, had to loosen 2 bolts inside to release the handle, push outward to reveal barrel, TOY43 code stamped near the top.
As a rule of thumb, any older Japanese vehicles I get - always worth removing door lock to check for code.

I'll test what I find in this thread, and post pics of any I find...

On passenger door lock cylinder.
One trick I use is to use flexible scope to view door lock cylinder codes, whenever possible. I use this trick on older Mitsubishi eclipse and Chrysler equivalent Sebring(MIT1), also older Ford Probe/ Mazda 626. Sometimes it is easier if you have hand crank windows to lower before putting in scope. Small diameter scopes available for 75-125 USD china suppliers. You don't have to pull panel, so it saves time.

For Fiat cars , in this example the cutting code is 6 3 6 1

In Opel Vectra C after "wake up can "(push os pull the buttons , turn on the lights , hit brakes , scream , e t c ) you can read mechanical key code from CIM , no need pincode for this .
For other Opel cars after put on the ignition ( play with + on dash fuses ) you can read the mechanical key code from imobilizer gen 1 and 2 .

yeah it save some time opening the lock but i still need to cut about 5 keys to have one to work on the ignition , because the pick cannot pick the ignition to get wafer one and two .

is there an easy way to open the ignition to get the wafer or is there a code hidden some where .

Two options: First, impression first two tumblers, look for marks and cut down on code machine til you have working key.
Second, 3 keys max- 1st key, 11, 12, 13, 23, 24, 34, 44
2nd key, 21, 31, 32, 42, 43

Honda key codes almost on every lock but hard to see if rusty always start from an alphabet eg: M708

Lexus 1992-1997 passenger side 4digit code
1998-2014 passenger side 5digit code if no lock on passenger side then driver side starts with 4 and 8

Cheve Caprice and Lumina 2001-2006 Via OBD Mechanical code

Suzuki swift and 2006 onwards on driver side 5digit code starts with 6

When the trunk lock is in good condition it is also good to make a key from it. Just 2 screws holding the lock and then, there is only 1 pin need to be removed and the plug comes out with key code stamped.

EDIT: In good condition I meant if customer is sure the key worked also in this lock.

dont waste your time boys, most of these puntos, open passanger door, you will see an airbag lock. pops out in 5 seconds. All cuts are inside, and number printed on barrel. 2 min job.

Great Thread here.....

Nowadays I find many newer cars that have numbers stamped on them but these number aren't INSTACODE compatible. I found codes on Toyota, VW and others but these aren't the standard Instacode type.
Is there some "NEW" Database that the manufacturers are now running on or what?

If you strip the lock, then the discs normally have number stamped on them, or you can tell what cut they are just by looking at them. These locks are very easy to pick and decode though, so that is always the way to go.

What if the customer don't want the door lock to be removed??
Is there all in VIN to keycode calculating software that covers all types of vehicle?

I also hear some locksmiths they have access to some vendor database ( toyota for instance) to get keycodes, Is that true?

Thanks for your response, very helpfull all

dont waste your time boys, most of these puntos, open passanger door, you will see an airbag lock. pops out in 5 seconds. All cuts are inside, and number printed on barrel. 2 min job.

There is no airbag lock on Punto Grande from 2006 onwards and no codes on door locks only on old Punto….

Hello, my friend
Your key profile is gt15, and is found in older models of Fiat vehicles.
Newer models have the sip22 ,
key Cutting codes of both old and new are usually stamp, on the switch and on Airbag passenger ,

thats wrong

but one question I have

how or can I translate the stamp code on the Airbag Switch to a Code in instacode ? To get the bitting
i know for SIP22 you must take the last numbers and DE BEFORE

yes it is but in each case I want to know witch is the full code and where I get the letters and numbers to complete the stamp code on Airbag switch or in other manufactures.

But i found the Problem

Solved,

the Problem was in Datasheet from xhorse Dolphin. There it is written SIP22 for a punto 2004. this is wrong . Use only instacode then you find the full numbers and fill the front letters and the the Full numbers from it. You need advance in instacode

Thanks but I checked this as well. Pug Partner has VA2 blade and shoul be ABCDEF code. I have lock stamp and wonder how people determine code from it. It might need different software to calculate this ? I can't use lishi car is far from me I was hoping someone can help as it is easy with other cars to do it.

rapidlocksmiths
9th November, 2020, 06:20 PM
thats not the key code , that will be a part number to do with the housing its stamped on , it will be ABCDEF series VA2 and these dont use a key code , they use direct codes reversed , so if the cuts from bow to tip were lets say abcdef then the dealer code would be ****fedcba

with this lock your options are

1) use lishi va2 tool to pick and decode , have them send you the lock or travel to it
2) strip the lock to read the wafers again have them send you the lock or travel to it
3) buy the key code from the main dealer and hope its not had a lock change

what you have found is not a key cut code

I had this picked and read.
But insta did not come up with a result, at that time. When decoding. (Got several "Half reading", not easy to know exactly up or down a bitting).
So left it for a while.
Since occupied with other stuff.

Tried to locate a code.
Found 7I13, on the door lock
Did not work at that time.

Found some time today.
Now with more research - I found out that the "I" is actually an "L"
In the series K-L-M.

So I recon the code is either
L013
or
L713

If any have some experience with this series, by code.
I would appreciate some feedback.

I see now, that this kit would be handy.
Instead of cutting blades, all day long for testing.

I also disable the lock, and made a key which turn the door lock. (On this vehicle, but not working on the ignition).

There is something very strange with those.
Because standard key delivered, is cut the same on both sides of the key. 2 different cuts.

But when you take the lock apart.
And make a key which turns the lock.
It is 4 different cuts, to make it work.

It works, did it on a DAT17 earlier.
Worked out fine.
Since the car had KeylessGo. AKL car.

But I know, its not the real solution for this.
I have no idea, how this is possible.

I did a Jazz 2008 month ago. I picked and decode this lock. But better is take out the roll pin from the ignition. Its very easy with a 3mm drill from the side. Then use something to push the pin out. The number on the lock was the right one.

Is this correct for fiat 500? Picked with lishi cant .ake a working key

rapidlocksmiths
3rd June, 2022, 12:01 AM
is what correct on fiat 500 ? lishi is deadly accurate on sip22 ive done hundreds and never had an issue , the sip22 lishi is one of easiest to use and is one of the most reliable and accurate tools , as i say ive done literally hundreds of them and never had a bad decode..

which lishi are you using , single lift tool or twin lift tool ? decode opposite direction to picked with single lift tool or same direction as picked with twin lift tool .

the location likely to have a code stamped on it is the ignition lock barrel .

misterwasp77
3rd June, 2022, 10:19 AM
How did you remove ignition barrel on fiat 500 without a key?

rapidlocksmiths
3rd June, 2022, 10:37 AM
you can pick the ignition to position 1 to remove it or decode it , but its not straight forward , you need to remove the dustcover/faceplate of ignition lock , insert 2 shims on left side of lock to take care of the side bar , you can then use lishi to pick the lock , when picked a few degrees remove the shims and lock will turn fully .

personally i would persevere with lishi on the door lock assuming its the same lock as the ignition .

which lishi tool are you using single lift or twin lift ?

are you getting all 8 wafers in door lock or just 7 wafers in position 2 to 8 ?

i cant see how you can go wrong with lishi on door lock decode , ive never known it miss read other than twin lift tools that have had heavy handed use damaging the pick snibs so they miss read , never known the single lift tool to miss read .

misterwasp77

Im using a twin lift. I cant get door lock to bite any of the even numbers now only the odd. The ignition when i tried that was all springy none would bite
All 8 are springing back on the door lock when i put in and apply no tension at all

rapidlocksmiths
3rd June, 2022, 11:11 AM
you wont get any binding wafers in the ignition until you remove facecap of the ignition lock and take care of the side bar with 2 shims first , the side bar prevents you binding the wafers until dealt with .

when you say you cant get any of the even numbers to bite i assume you mean all are springy , once you have picked the odd positions that are binding on the odd side then the even side should bind until picked , if not increase tension to see if this changes things.

if you mean you cant feel the wafers at all on the even numbered positions then it sounds like you have worn or damaged the snib on that pick arm .

try inserting tool other way up , any difference or can you now feel even positions and not odd positions now ? if so it sounds like damaged pick snibs on one of the lift arms .

i prefer the single lift tool as you can use alot more tension and it doesnt wear or break as easily as the twin lifts do if heavy handed.

cant be anything else , either damaged tool or your not using enough tension.

you could use a tension wrench and hand pick to hand pick the door lock , you could also make an overlifter to turn door lock to open position , spike it and then try decode with your tool , you could also cut every position to highest cut and impression the lock.

you could get a local auto locksmith to come and pick and decode the lock for you or sub the job out to them . or you can purchase the key code if the original ignition still or buy a single lift tool to do the job .

hi try to remove the door lock. read the wafers. Do not prolong the work.

rapidlocksmiths
3rd June, 2022, 02:50 PM
if the wafers are all felt when no tension , then has to be either issue with tool or the keyway and plug are badly worn and the tool is turning under tension and comming out of position , if case then try inserting tool then a shim to hold pick square in correct position when tensioning.

Ok , if these are the cuts from the drivers door lock then they are positions 3 to 10 and not 1 to 8 , so you need the 1st 2 cuts and not the last 2 cuts .

if the cuts in positions 3 to 10 are ??31212442 then its narrows down to 1 of 3 keys and will be either

1231212442
2331212442
3231212442

so cut with 12 in first 2 positions , if no joy then cut same blade 23 in first 2 positions , if no joy then use new blade and cut 3231212442

yes , it can be found in 3 ways

1) by using the correct lishi pick to pick and decode the lock

2) by removing the lock , stripping it down and reading the wafers

3) by purchasing the key code from the main dealer
