I have a question for you friends, need to prepare a second remote key on 2005 citroen xsara picasso.Original remote key have separate transponder chip 7936 and remote pcb,but I have brand new citroen remote key /china/ that have one chip for remote and transponder on pcb recognised like 7961.I think with pin code transponder can be programmed successfuly, but I'm not sure about programming of remote function on this remote key fob. Please give me some advise friends,is this new remote key compatible with this car or need to look other one?

Dont waste your time with the China Remotes, the transponder will programme but the remote will not work.

New one is cheap

Chinese remotes won't work on VAN cars.

You need brand new one,or specially prepared PCF7936 with data from used remote(precoded).

Generally valid for all cars with ID46, there is no separate procedure for programming these remotes, just programming transponder and then synchronising remote by sqeezing and holding lock or unlock button for 5-10 seconds, key in ignition position 2. That's all. Because data in remote is calculated from transponder it is enough to add transponder and sync remote after.
OEM remote for your Picasso (like mine from 2005) have inside transponder pcf7936 and pcf7922 for remote. Depends from design third party remotes can be built-up from pcf7936, 7941 or 7961 whatever because they are chips from the same kind, depends only from data calculated in it will remote work or not, so I don't know for this case particularly but chinese remotes can be good and not, so try and you'll know.

Not true, data in transponder is calculated from the remote, not the other way around.

Basically in transponder is written what remote ID is allowed to sync with the BSI.

On transponder programming BSI checks that, and then stores the remote ID that is written in the transponder into his memory.

Upon syncing only the stored ID's will be allowed sync.

Also chinese remotes don't work for VAN cars, tested by many members here.
Genuine is the only way.

Ofcourse,though it's a double-edged sword.
Remotes with Motorola IC's have battery drain issues.Though I never experienced one,my colleague did.
He reused the remote, and after 7 days, battery was dead,he thought battery was bad, replaced it,the same happened.
He ditched remote, replaced it with another, all is OK for now.
