Hi,
please help my with BMW 320i engine N43

problem is a poor idle, engine litle shaking.. :)

faults:
30EA DENOX CATALYTIC CONVERTER, SULPHURIZED
30C1 Engine-oil pressure control, static
29CE Misfire detection cylinder 2
2A99 Crankshaft exhaust camshaft ,correlation

I change a spark plugs, ignition coil and injector in 2. cylinder , no change

I tested a compression at all cylinder, everything is ok

please help me , any idea are welcome

thank you

I suspect the problem is the injector in cylinder 1. When they fail they often over fuel and then the oxygen sensor will trim fuel away from bank 1 (cylinder 1+2) making cylinder 2 lean causing it to misfire.
What colour are the sparkplugs? 1 black and sooty? the rest look normal?

The oil pressure code is probably a faulty solenoid in the back of the engine behind the alternator. Also check the timing chain.

You can ignore the Nox catalyst code, 90% of the cars I code read with this engine have it stored.

If compression is ok, injectors coils, spark are all good. The only think is timing left

hi, thank you for the answer
on this car the 1 and 4 cylinder has 1 catalytic converter and the, 2 and 3 cylinder has an another cat.
how should i check the injectors? what is the procedure? how should i test it?
tomorow I will check the timing chain and replece it

thanks

Well spotted, suspect injector 3 then.

I think there is a test to diagnose the injectors in ISTA D (there is for the N52 + N54 engines). I prefer to check sparkplugs as I find it more accurate. If there is a sparkplug wet with petrol after is has stood for a little while then injector broken. If 1 sparkplug is black sooty and the rest are ok then injector is broken.

remove the oil sump and check for oil strainer blockage...

Hi, I'm new to this site and came across your post and realised my car has the same issue. It is also a 320i N43 engine 2008 BMW. It shakes at idle the same way you've described your shaking, I've changed the cat converter, spark plugs, coils and the issue still persists, have you found a solution to it yet? thank you.
