I'm inclined to say agree with Oasis and say "maybee just maybee" one of three things when you say "rewired"
1) customer has cut o/e nissan plug off which MITE (or not) loop out b+ to im*o box (pug 106)
2) Customer has caused a "high reistance in the fuse box area" - interior lite fuse blown
3) something else, but not the above
ask the punter if he can put back old stero?
did the battery go flat

the orignal stereo is fitted to the car, but the o/e plug is cut out? no idea wat he was doin. when i scanned the car first time there wer more nats fault codes i.e
p1612
p1614
p1615
when i cleared them p1610 remains, lock mode. i read somwer u need to nissan consult tester to "unlock" it.
basically the rewiring of the stereo caused the car voltage to drop, then customer tried starting it causing immo fault, 4 consecutive tries "locked out" the ecu to start at all
just need a method of unlocking
thanx
ps. does nissan supercode work for this model??

i had a simular experance with a primera our kit refused to do the airbag, so i popped it to a nearby 'freind' and used their x431, plugged it in, bing, bash, bosh, airbag, suck, blow, light out jobs a carrot, crancky crancky, no start, 'same shit' disconnected battery, hiho silver away, (can't remember if i RECONNTeD the battery or not)
try it you might like it.

that Is correct, if disconnecting battery worked, then charge the customer for a "software hard-reboot"
it was an X431 that was out of date.

is the stero wiring connected to the 'sideward facing foo-foo valve' ?
oh, just remind me what the first thing i said on this thread?

almera, almera tino and primera p12... they have fault with conection in plug no M31. u can get subharness for it from nissan dealer or replace pin conectors on SECU and ant amplifier - reading coil on ignition barrel. 4 wires.
check if that is ok and then use coded key to unlock the lock mode : 5 x ignition on & off. i that will not help disconect battery remove SECU, strip it down and conect wire to the ground circuit on main board of SECU and make short with all pins to memmory chip. MAKE SURE U DISCONECT PLUGS FIRST.
It always worked for me. worked for nissan for few years.

so:
-plug m31 is the one in coilreader/antamplifier- little black thing on ignition barrel - 4 wire plug
-the SECU is located (uk spec cars):
a/ on left side of steering column with 4 plugs
b/ under radio unit
-ingnition on & off x5 (all job up to 10 sec.)
-just connect 1 end of wire to ground circuit on main board and with 2dn end touch gently all pin of all chips on board.
-I never tried nissan supercode but see attachment where u can find code. it's one of BCM, im*o, SECU.

hi, its nats 5, siemens do manufacture the immo.
iv still had no luck!!! i keep getting code
p1614 chain of immu-key
p1610 lock mode
i reckon rafekj is rite, its the ignition coil.
@ rafekj, if i get secondhand ignition coil will it need to be programmed? or isit jus plug n play? personally i think wen the stereo was wired, it shorted a ground somwer that leads to ignition coil.
also the SECU was located, it only had 3 plugs, is it the rite 1? (picture attached) had siemens written on it, but no code for NATS pin
sorry 4 2 many questions
thankyou

The coil reader was gettin the right current and when i unplugged it the NATS light would go out so i know it was working, so i logged in to NATS system and recoded the keys with code Rafekj gave me, problem solved. Car started straight away. I still cant figure out how the im*o lost key memory by cuttin stero wires??
Anyway thankyou to:

i would guess what has happened is/was as the punter cut the stereo wiring he more than likely causes a voltdrop
which make the nats 'forget' the keys.
bit like your mate who lives in nowhere, as the kettle turns on/off lights dip
seen it 'hundrads' of times.
somebody make this mistake with a cat1 alarm, doing this
then told the bloke it's f**ked, but made an even bigger mistake of asking me what i thought, 'oh yeah, click, clunk, beep beep, there you go'....got a bolloking afterwards
boss had just perswaded the guy to fork out for a new control unit.....sometimes reading books and internet
isn't helpful at all.

Yeah I'm full of them, but only have friends when they want something.
i'm pissed off and going to bed if anybody wants my services, it would be nice to get some bits and bobs from tesco.com, but if the pretty bird is working tonight, she will end up with some free verbal abuse.
I'm one of them people that are IMPOSSABLE to upset, and the bird at tesco.com REALLY upset me with 3 words last week.

Ok so i have transplanted at TB45e from a Nissan Patrol GU into an older vehicle. I have hooked up the the ecm according to the workshop manual. When i try and start the engine the Malfunction lamp start blinking when i get the fault code i get a 1401 which seems to be a nats error. Unfortunatley i dont have the NATS unit or im*u from the donner car. is there any way i can disable the nats check at the ecm or provide a dummy nats signal or can i get the ecm reprogrammed by nissan. If not what are my alternatives?
In the wiring diagram for the donor engine it refers to a configuration without NATS so i was wondering if i could source a ECM without NATS if that would work? otherwise i guess i will be up for a standalone aftermarket ecu. Any suggestions appreciated.

You'll find that the ignition lock is loose on the steering colume and needs tightening by replacing the shear bolts and fileing some metal off the clap that hold the lock on, once that done un plug the nats arial and squosh the teminal a little some make a good connection, then turn the ignition on 3 times starting it on the third time.
