Firstly big thanks to Maddogs who pmed me this solution he got form another forum. I just tested it and it works:)
To cleaify to everyone, the dm800 showing No CA Error is NOt, I stress NOT a hardware fault, but a software problem. A lot of people are having to spend money returning their units to supplier due to getting this error, which is cause by us either putting wrong image on the box or by us updating the software. So hopefully this will save you the money in shipping back.
No CA Error is cause by the 2nd stage bootloader becomming courpted. Either by you flashing an image which does not have timebomb removed or by updating an timbomb removed image via the software update which will put the timebomb on the box and courpt the bootloader. (so dont update your image!!!)
I have done the 2nd solution myself and know this to be a fact as this software fix has fixed my box.
So let me introduce you to: DM800 Clone Serial Flash Enforcer
'' DM800 Clone Serial Flash Enforcer
Made by and inconjuction with the Clone manufacturers!
Use if DreamUp will not connect to your 800 Clone.
read pdf files inside. ''
here is two solution
No ca found by 2nd stage loader
This can be done in 2 ways.
1) You have to have a working dreambox.
2) DM800_repair, you alter dreamup to be able to use greyed buttons.
Now for the first sollution.
1) Connect working dreambox DM600/DM800.
2) Open dreamup, press connect.
3) When dreambox is found by dreamup, insert Null-Modem cable in
the broken dreambox.
4) Press flash button, and chose a firmware.
5) The flash progress will probably hang, its OK.
6) Open dreamup again, connect the broken box, press connect.
7) If all went ok, you can now flash box again, (Use only serial
communication)
Now for the second sollution
1) Connect broken dreambox DM600/DM800
2) Open dreamup, press connect.
3) When you see second loader error popup, just press ok.
4) Open http://www.gsmsweden.com/forhike/sat...stage_pack.rar
5) Drag DM800_repair in front of dreamup, and press dream multimedia logo.
6) Now press the greyed Flash button, and chose firmware.
7) The flash progress will probably hang, its OK.
8) Open dreamup again, connect the broken box, press connect.
9) If all went ok, you can now flash box again, (Use only serial
communication)
Remember rep to maddogs for finding it, and of course the maker of it.

Hi, i've bought this: USB to RS232 Serial Null Modem Cable COM DB 9 Pin Lead on eBay (end time 01-Mar-10 14:44:18 GMT) (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370328006150) and i was hoping to get my dm800 back to life. but when i plug it, pusch connect and switch the dreambox on, nothing happens.
I thought that was the dm800 clone that couldn't connect, so i tried the dm500 (original) too and i got the same behaviour.
Is there anything that i'm missing or is just what i bought that is probably not working?
thanks

i have installed the driver (and windows tells me that now the device is installed and ready to work) but i have left the com to port 4 or 5, since 1 and 3 is already used.
When i try to connect it just doesn't do anything, the bar doesn't become blue...

There's a decent chance that your USB to Serial adaptor is only working one-way, i.e. it will receive data but not send or vice versa. USB to serial adaptors seem to be notorious for this problem.
I suggest that you start a new thread asking people's advice on what to buy. The Maplins adaptor seems to be popular although I believe that you need to download the drivers for it. See this thead (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f10/please-upload-maplin-usb-serial-rs232-drivers-d-12622/).

I'm trying to use an old laptop with serial port. Same result, i click on connect, switch on the dm800 and nothing happens.
Is there anything wrong with my dm800?

I've got the same 'no CA found problem' with DM 800 bootloader #72. I've tried to fix it with the 2nd stage pack (method #2), but it didn't work. At step 3 flash-loader uploads without any pop-up messages, DreamUp status is "upload completed, waiting for acknowledge", and nothing happens. After choosing firmware at step 6 DreamUp says: "calculating checksum, waiting for OK from box to begin upload", and again nothing happens. When I try to flash the box again after steps 8 & 9, there is "file too big" message, and that's all. Many thanks to forhike for his work anyway, hope that he may have some new ideas how to solve this problem.

I tried method 2 several times and I finally decided to change some steps. It worked and I had to find out that my BL is #59. So I got a #70 from someone else and now I am almost back to normal... That's my story anyway. Hope you have better luck.
Here's my modified steps:
Download http://www.gsmsweden.com/forhike/sat...stage_pack.rar
1) Connect broken dreambox (DB) DM600/DM800 via RS232 and LAN.
2) Open DreamUp (DU).
3) Check to make sure the IP for your PC is correct and you have the IP for the DB in the same subnet i.e. aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd, a-c of your PC and DB should be the same.
4) Press connect.
5) DU should ask you to turn on DB. Just turn on DB and you should see DU uploading flash loader.
6) When flash loader upload is complete. The display on DB should show the IP address.
7) Use browser to logon to DB and upload flash image.
DB should should be OK now.

is there another solution to revive my box using network cable or maybe with another program? (dreambox control center etc)
i dont think that dreamup and serial method will ever work for me.
only problem on network connection is that dreambox boots with no ca found......how can i bypass and go to the web flash utility or use another program to install the 2nd stage through network?
can it be done or i am stuck with dreamup tricks?

by serial you mean right? because on normal boot through network i am stuck at no ca found error and the box does not get an ip from the router.
i tried all versions of dreamup available (patched and not patched) and tried with correct bootloader and even with older one.
nothing :banghead:
our difference is that i get a different kind of error on dreamup connection.....you and others that worked were seeing the 2nd bootloader message.....i am seeing the '' is not a valid integer value.

I had some serious trouble trying to get my dm800 running again with these no ca error & file to big errors.
I had upgraded my sim card to ferrari using the 'free-ferrari-upgrade-1-1.nfi'. This had been working fine for a few weeks, until I flashed the wrong image this is when I first got the 'no ca error'.
I tried flashing all sorts of images and bootloaders but the 'no ca error' wouldnt go away.
In the end I connected via serial and lan cable. Ticked use network in dreamup and flashed the 'free-ferrari-upgrade-1-1.nfi' back to my box, by entering the ip address on the screen of my box and displayed in dreamup int my web browser. At first it hung on dhcp while booting up. i removed the network cable and rebooted. This time it booted up properly, I ran the ferrari upgrade tool from the plugins menu. It said upgrade successful. I now rebooted and could flash a new ferrari image again. Maybe this is of use to somebody

If it says file too big, it means DreamUp can't find the box. Most likely incorrect IP address or a problem with you null modem cable.

OLED found!
NO CONFIGURATION DATA PRESENT. STOP.
* ERR01: NO CA FOUND
Tried all the methods mentioned in this thread and none worked. I may be facing a different problem since my 2nd stage bootloader loads. From the serial port trace, it seems that it could not find the configuration data, ie CA Invalid. When this happens, the DM800 refuse to respond to pressing the silver button on powerup and does not grab the IP address from the DHCP server. I tried both direct null ethernet cable method and through the router method. Tried it repeatedly until my fingers sore and still it does not work. So I guess without the network, I am totally screwed.
My guess is that some of us share the same problem as me and still stuck with the brick. Any suggestions from our more experienced bros out here?

I downloaded Digital Kaos - Downloads - 2nd stage and force flash (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/other/8/2nd-stage-force-flash-997/)
From there use the file DreamUP_patched_by_forhike_and_natas.exe
This allows you to flash your dreambox again.
In my case I used the latest OpenPLI to get into this situation.
Then used the executable mentioned above to put secondstage-dm800-72.nfi on, which also comes with the download.
This way I got my dm800 (clone) working again.
Hope this helps.

The main problem with this dm800hd, its simply the sims . I can fix it now. I have 2 weeks trying all these method etc reflash by webbrowser, dream up.Its all waste of time.My one is working nice now, you can even watch utube on it.

I did at least 5 units of 800 with CA error. Attached is the 2nd stage. you MUST HAVE A GOOD WORKING nfi image, not the same nfi that gives you CA error, so to revive your box. Check make sure your BL is correct as per your DM800 you have, NOT the BL you wish to have.
Make it simple, go back to your original vanilla image using dreamup 2nd stage, you shall get your box back to alive.
After you connect your box up, remember to drag the "DM800_repair" onto the DreamUp empty area. You should find the dreamup is now connected to your Box. After which you select your or a vanilla nfi ( the original file of your DM800 preferred, not any thing new). This take abt 45mins to complete. Good Luck.
The above is simple and ok for most.
The other 2 methods are: Jtag which you need tools and .bin files which is not easy to get as different country area, different flash ID, will have different assembled .bin files.
The last method is for very professional, lift the Flash chip and reprogram with a good .bin file. This method is tedious but for those who have hot-air blowergun only. Usually they have several pre-programmed good chip standby to exchange. For a Pro, this method takes about 5 to 10 mins or less.
WARNING: THE LAST 2 METHOD NEED TAKING OFF THE COVER, IT WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY.

I didnt knew I had a clone until I got the CA error. Did not buy it myself, it was a gift and the buyer thougt he bought the real deal.
Now lets try to fix this! hope it wil work, to be continued...
I got it fixed. I found out, I didn't have a sim1, sim2 or ferrari sim card but an E-Star Sim in my DM800 clone (had to take it apart to check the sim)
After downloading the E-star tools DreamUp version, the E-star Image Converter (for converting original DM800 images) and the right SSL files.
Flashing the thing with the SSL and Image was easy, no "TO BIG" errors and no more CA ERRORS!
Installing CCcam was the next problem but turned out easy as well; just put the cccam.tar.gz file in the "/temp" directory on your Dreambox with "Dreambox Controle Center" and install it by using the "Blue Panel" (and point out the location to /temp)

i just pressed on the sims with my finger , the receiver came to life once its booted. There i glued the simm 2.01 firmly . its been workin for 3 months now.
Dm800SE Sim2.10 SSL84B clone was working smoothly. Butby tyring to flash a D-Eli 3.0 enigma 2v 3.2.1 . We used sunray Flash Up, to add other plugins , which is missing in that image.
Now after booting, I got a blue light on the front screen. No further progress.
What are necessary steps to take and what tools I shall require.
The NEW box has reached me only 3 weeks ago.
I refuse to think that it is dead, there may be a way out
from the ICU unit.
Would be most grateful if you would kindly extend your technical assistance.
Thanks in advance.

Hi people.
I have tried all ways to fix the NO CA FOUND error but it still doesn't work.
My usb to rs232 converter can't detect the DM800HD . I am using the optiflasher.
It gets stuck at the "Power On DB Device".
Is it bricked for GOOD?
Any kind souls can advise? Thank you.

Maybe its not compatible or you didn't use a null modem cable, thats why cannot detect
So is your usb adapter able to detect other box?
ernestchee
16th July, 2012, 02:53 AM
I don't have other boxes to test.
Is it also because I am using Windows 7?
Will windows XP work in this case?
I am using the USB to RS 232 converter with the FT232L chipset.
Is this cable a null modem compatible cable? Or should I specifically get one which has the null modem internal pin wiring?
Thank you.
Edit: Got it working! Used the null modem cable I bought today and plugged it into my COM 1 port on my PC. One click does it with optiflasher! Thanks!!

Try this.. read from some where
http://www.yassinov.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=162
Dreambox 800hd not responding to dreamup see below:
Requirements: Null modem cable
Procedure (With XP and hardware serial port)
1)Ensure dreambox is unplugged
2) Connect dbox to com port with NULL MODEM CABLE, do not try using a gender changer on a standard usb/serial cable. (Should be com1)
3) Fire up Hyperterminal create profile using profile
connection 115200 8 none 1 none
4 Click ok to activate should see a flashing cursor in hyperterminal
5 Power up Dreambox, wait few seconds and hit the 'f' key.
You should see the 'Err01 no Ca found' dissapear, a few lines of garbage appear in hyperterminal window and dreambox loading onto 'STOP' looking for DHCP assigned IP.
IP should be displayed shortly after where you can follow many other procs on here to access http://<displayed ip> and proceed with loading the correct SSL image.
I grabbed this one
Digital Kaos - Downloads - SSL84b for DM800 sim 2
Then flashed a new SSL84b image which was this
SIM2-SSL84b-TSimage-1.0.0-DM800HD-OE 1.6
All working fine now! Ive not seen a single method online using what i did above.
Note if you dont have XP and hyperminal. For Windows 7 you download putty under 'session - connection type - select serial and then you can select your com port there. I have not tested this with usb/serial lead. I read many things about driver issues with the maplin lead and was having so many issues with dreamup no responding i binned it using a direct com port.
