View Full Version : Can't clear fault codes with OP-COM V1.39

Hi all,
Received my OP-COM today and played around with it for an hour or so but I cannot seem to clear the fault codes.
Everything else seems to work fine.
Anyone got any ideas?
I know the car isn't at fault as my local garage cleared them last week.

Are you sure its not the fault that is present on the vehicle at time of test. When your garage cleared them the faults may of only been in memory unplug something, plug it back in and see if the induced fault clears m8.

I have about 6 fault codes showing, 4 misfires, a rich exhaust, and immobiser.
The misfire faults are current but garage can clear them and the IM light until I drive it to 3500rpm then the light/fault comes back.
The rich exhaust fault came up when a breather pipe was accidently pulled off.
The immobiser fault happened when the battery was disconnected/reconnected.
Surely these faults should clear?

Think it will be software because your computer is talking to car, so proves your interface is ok. And uses the same communication lines to talk and clear codes.

Vauxhall Zafira Elegance 1.8, 2003, Z18XE its a factory fitted duel fuel so I run her mostly on LPG.
The problem is the only codes that ever pop up are:
P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected B-22
P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected B-22
P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected B-22
P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected B-22
The management light only comes on if I try pushing her over 3500rpm. You can feel it start to hesitate as the revs near 3500.
So far I have changed the coil pack, plugs and MAF sensor.
I'm thinking now it might be the injectors. Is there any powerful cleaning stuff I can pour in the tank? or am I wasting my time?

Drove her to work today. On the way home she wouldn't go over 2500 rpm which made it very difficult to drive.
Just plugged the OP-COM in and some new codes popped up great I thought, but as I my finger hit the touch pad it bloody cleared all the codes ARGH (One reason I hate touch pads)
I can remember one code though, something about the throttle position sensor.
I'm going out for another drive now to try and get them back.
update:
started her up, spanner light came on -
P1555 - Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Load Signal not Plausible with Engine Load
(00) - Present
took her for a drive got this:-
P1555 - Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Load Signal not Plausible with Engine Load
(00) - Not present
P0170 - Lean Exhaust
(02) - Present
P0301 - Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
(01) - Not present
What do you think m8?

No m8 I haven't cleaned anything.
Somebody just told me to run tests on OP-COM he said try the "Throttle position test and throttle body test"
He also told me to compare all the injectors
I'm gonna have a play with the OP-COM over the weekend

go into ecu special functions and reset throttle body ignition on, engine off, start activation and WAIT, till start activation isnt greyed out once more. turn ignition off and start vehicle. if vehicle dont start dont worry turn ignition off and wait keep trying it will run then take it for drive with no fault codes in memory. from your codes seems like this will fix it post back with results.
only thing i dont like is this dual fuel business, if it were straight petrol this would fix it!!!!!!! i think!!!!!!!!!!
THIS WILL FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Couldn't find "Throttle Body" in the list of things to reset m8.
I tried resetting the TPS which made it run worst at first which brought up a crank shaft sensor code.
Car is pretty much undrivable now, only revs to 2000 rpm before it starts misfiring and wont rev any higher.
I feel like pushing it off a cliff :banghead:

When was the oil last changed ?
These cars log a missfire fault if the oil is old it jacks up the tappit and cos loss of compretion
If your oil is old get a tin of forty oil flush and put it in the engine let it run on a high tick over for about 45 mins to 1 hour dump the oil & filter
fit a new filter and re fill with the proper grade of oil

sure its in special functions?
Throttle actuator? down know m8, would need to see it.
Sorry if it runs worse shouldnt do! you just choose it from drop down menu and start activation wait till its finished. I wouldnt touch a dual fuel system myself, turn them away at my garage. Great when there right, major headaches when not!

Right m8, got some more codes now.
Messing around in OP-COM I reset the throttle position sensors and the Electronic Throttle Control. These were the only things I could find relating to the throttle.
First off it ran better managed to get her to rev over 3000 rpm and felt smoother. Try to drive her but went back to shit. These codes came up after that:-
P1526 - Throttle Position no Adaption
P1550 - Electronic Throttle Control Power Management
also noticed in the measuring blocks "vehicle acceleration - 0.0" that stayed at 0.0 when revving/driving is that right?
just googled the TPS and found this:-
"And very often, a driver experiences the effects of a faulty or bad TPS sensor as an engine hesitation or stumbling during acceleration"
sounds like my problem, they also describe how to test it with a volt meter which i will try tomorrow.
Just like to say thanks for sticking with me on this one mate.. I really appreciate your input.

Yes it is, ?344 rrp apparently!
Found one for ?270 but I don't wanna be spending that sort of cash on a whim. I think i'll send it into a garage see what they think.

Found one a bit cheaper, still ?200 thou
AS9196357 - THROTTLE VALVE BODY (http://www.autovaux.co.uk/LoadPortal.aspx?cnum=48&pnum=AS9196357&tabid=5&vnum=129)
definately gonna get a garages opinion first methinks.

Back to square one again.
After clearing the TPS faults codes they didn't come back, so i'm not sure if those fault codes were just the result of resetting the TPS sensors.
Only codes I've got are the misfire ones again.
I did run the OP-COM test on the TPS and nothing came back.
One thing I did notice is that the limp mode was inactive, so I presume its not actually running in limp mode. What else could cause the car to not rev over 2000 rpm?

hi i have a copy of op-com, bought off ebay, took forever to get it to work at all but like with others it wont actually reset the fault codes, i know that the codes are resettable as have plugged in an eobd scanner and reset fine but opcom wont reset it, any help would be appreciated, i take it that this must be the software rather than the adapter as it seems to read all the information correctly.
thanks

I-m having the same problem with an Astra 2002. I am receiving P1612/P1613/B3040 immobiliser error codes. I reseated the cables and power cycled the ECU and now the car is starting again, however the codes still remain.
Also it fails to accept/do anything with the security code in the immobiliser section. The buttons to reprogram/reset/etc the immobiliser stay grayed out whatever number I enter. It's almost like the number is wrong, except I have the number printed on the opel card.
Is there alternative software I can use to clear the codes?
It might be a long shot, but does any techies know how to reprogram the ecu to ignore/disable the immobiliser? Is it possible with this ebay clone cable?
Cheers all!
P.S. Otherwise the cable worked really well... once was using the right OP-COM version. Love the technical raw data that streams through plain old 10k baud rate.

I have tested my van with another opcom and that clears fault codes but if I then create a code mine will not clear it

If you use the sw provided by Chinese on cd, forget about it.
Use Op-Com 090821 and will work like a charm.
No activation need.
