Friends from D-K forum and "people from bucharest" take here
check the capacitors
check the transistor
redo solderings (90% of fault)
"If your Astra 1.7 Diesel with an Isuzu engine has problems starting, stalling, or just does not run, The usual problem is the Diesel I ECU becoming faulty.Symptoms are complete non start or a spurious fault code blaming the spill valve.
We can now repair this problem and get car up and running again."

Anyway if you want war i will give you war. if you want frindship... i am sorry, but you have this occasion! so....
The overall condition of the EDU can be checked very easily and without the need to open the EDU. Pin 4 should be connected to a 12V supply and pin 17 to ground. It's best to avoid using a current-limiting supply; otherwise the EDU may not power up properly. The standby current drawn by the EDU should be about 180mA. If the current is much higher or lower than this, the EDU will need to be opened for inspection to be carried out. If the EDU is working properly, it should be possible to hear a slight buzzing sound, but beware of the high voltages (130V or more) that appear across the two pins connected to the spill valve.
If the EDU is not working properly, open it and inspect the PCB. If necessary, re-solder the three legs of the large capacitor and the four legs of the large inductor. Re-solder any other joints that look bad. Power up the EDU again by connecting pin 4 to a 12V supply and pin 17 to ground. Check for the presence of correct voltages at the four points marked 'A', 'B', 'C' and 'D' in the photos. If the voltages are not as expected, remove the PCB from its housing so that the components mounted on the other side of the PCB can be inspected and tested.
The attached photos show a faulty Isuzu EDU I repaired a few months ago. Previous attempts had been made to repair the PCB, but nobody had bothered to look underneath. A few simple checks revealed that there were severe problems with the EDU. For example, the output from one of the regulators was only 1V instead of 8.6V, which prevented the step-up converter from working properly. It's output was less than 0.1V instead of 130V or more. There was also excessive ripple on the supply lines. I suspected that at least one capacitor was faulty, but I had to remove the PCB to find out what was wrong.
The 8.6V regulator had to be replaced because of an internal short. I used a 7809 as a substitute for the original part. As expected, one tantalum capacitor was faulty. It was replaced with a capacitor marked '106-35k'. The 'SD' n-channel FET had to be replaced because it had a short between two of its terminals. Once the faulty parts had been replaced, the EDU sprung back into life.
and by the way??? why did you don't posted first, if you already know???
PS: I START THE ML!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best way is to replace it without checking.I've had a situation once it looked nice on checking but it was cause of all problems (Car worked fine then after few minutes started to have like misfire when you have water in petrol).I've replaced it and everything is still fine

Just to connect a condenser coil and the relay because I changed the transistors and voltage regulator, had to cut the gel.

I asked the same question a few posts above then naturally received false answers from elchip, surely know that these are three different chips and certainly not 7408 or 7414. I think the answer lies both in the first and the last line of the mark, for all modules are respectively the first 014 for each one, and 3382, 3384, 3385 for the third line of different chips

Hi racin-snake,
Thanks for your help.
I had a look at that but this components (3 pins) doesn't seems to be a comparator, it looks more like a sort of on/off transistor, anyway I've tried finding a lm2903 with the same package as the one in the board but I haven't been able to, thus have you replaced one of these before?
Once again thank you very much for the help, it is much appreciated,

Hi,
I repair more that 20 ECU from this, the only problem what I found is bad soldering on pins from FET?s and coil pins.
But the most problem what I see is thermal problems on the FET?s! There is a factory fault! The thermal contact from the FET?s is bad! The best is to put it out and put thermal past and give more forces to the screws that hold the FET?s or put something between the FET and the screw to produces better contact..

OK, but when you say, "I have done the repair", what repair do you mean? just re-soldering it?
If that's what you mean you may need more than that, probably replace the regulators and capacitors in the inside board.

Dear forum members,
I want talk about these 3 chips on the board. I spent a lot of time to draw back the schematic circuit of this part of circuit (because I had problem with this part of circuit: the 5 Volt power supply for this circuit section was only ~3V, I measured the current consumption of this circuit on a good circuit and after that on the bad, some of the chips was bad). So, I think the circuit is a shift register (similar with the CD4014), BUT, the CD4014 is a 8 bit shift register with parallel load facility in 16 pin format, our chip have only 14 pins... The core of the chips is possible to have only 7 bits (reduced core), or possible the core with 8 bit shift register but reduced pin count (less output number for example).
I think, the sift registers is necessary for a "state machine" circuit, in function of the inputs and outputs, the state machine sets the next outputs.
Best regards,
Feri

Normally never had problems with the spill valve ..
Check all connector plugs on these vehicles first for hot connections ... This will be spill valve connector and another plug close to top ecu ...
If no problem on these then check bottom EDU unit for dry joint first ...

Hi
Have never found short on these ic's yet ...
How to know if they are giving problems ??? ( How to test )
I have about seven dead units i could not revive with my bit off knowledge on them ....
Bench test gets to pass on some off them but if installed on car it does not even start ... Can it be faulty 170v capacitor ????
I can upload video off last bench test i did .. but car not even wanted to start .....

hi
to test ic-s you measure with ohmeter about 600 ohm on capactor 10uf near 5v stabilizer 7805
~ 600 ohm is ok if you get something below ~30-100 ohm then you got a blown ic
i get them all desoldered and measure between pins 7 and 14 + and gnd (did not find other method....)
i had boards with those ic damaged which were blowing 2 x buz91 coil driver (edu draws about 7-8 amps for 5 seconds then blows buz91 an some printed circuit :D)
capacitor 10uf 450v should measure ~ 8-11uf low esr 0.00 to 1 ohm (various caps measured from an working unit)
if inverter works (you have 165v at capacitor) it doesnt mean the car will start , you have to check th bridge
and the connections between bridge trasistors 2xbuz91 and 2x 2903
also check 23p06v
some boards get intrerupted circuits on the inside layers of the board, so all parts seem ok the edu doesnt work; had boards which started working when bent by corners,

I repaired a dozen electronics for the 1.7 DTI engine.
My experience is:
- the vast majority of problems are weak joints at solder joints, heat, vibrations ... it is obligatory to solder all joints again,
- the problem is the voltage stabilizer, housing TO-220, I recommend replacing the old one with a new 7809,
- connect some of the connections with an additional wire, there are pictures on the web,
- I had a problem with el-co 10uF / 35V, be sure to replace them with el-co but the new ones must be resistant to high temperatures,
- bad connection on 220 Ohm resistors, serial connection, SDM, on the board, be sure to solder them again.845559845560845561

I had the opportunity when I test the EDU on the desktop, it works properly with the original valve. The car will not start, that is, it will not work. I repaired many computers but I did not have a case like this. When I had problems with about three ICs in the tssop14 case, I gave up because I didn’t know what they were. And I couldn't buy them anywhere. I almost found out what they were and started to download the schematic from the ODU. It is extremely complicated and I am glad that I came across work from my colleague MESER75. A big thank you. I've fixed a few bugs I've noticed and will upgrade in the future. As far as I can see, the part around the 74HC logic circuits and the quadruple comparator is missing .....
I will post these pictures so maybe it will help someone ..... Let's finally get the correct scheme of the complete device
850675850676850679850680850681
I will try to clarify the operation of the entire device in my own way.
The ECU sends the frequency to the EDU as the valve should open and close. The valve opens easily on Uvpp 12v. But at higher pressures it needs extra help at a higher voltage of 170V. That's why it works properly on my desk and it can't on my car. There is probably no proper voltage increase to 170V. Exactly that part around the 74hc circuit is not working properly, I don't have oscillograms. I am waiting for the ordered items to be replaced. While I'm waiting in part, I'm going to fix the electrical scheme a bit.
T11 via diode D7 turns on 12V to the valve, synchronously to it transistor T17 to the other end of the valve turns on ground. That's how it works for me now, but the T4 should turn on 170V in the T11 clock to help the valve work properly even at high pressures.
In this scheme, I think the oscillator that controls T7 -> T1 and T2 is missing. Most oscillations are made with two or three inverters IC 74HCO4. These oscillations create a voltage of 170V via the Step Upp power supply. I still have to clarify that mystery with the scheme.
Due to poor contacts and high voltage, 5v circuits are damaged.
RadovanPetkovic
28th November, 2021, 01:11 PM
Let me clarify a bit the operation of the circuit step up, which raises the voltage for example from 12 to 170V as in our case
850689
852273
In our case, the elements participating in that circuit are: L2, D3, C8 and T1-T2 in parallel.
Resistor R27 measures voltage drop and current. If it goes out of certain values, the circuit stops working and that is detected on R13 and then on a double comparator or operational amplifier ......
High-power resistors 0.1 0.033 and 0.022 Ohms serve as current sensors and protect the entire circuit. If any of them is damaged or burned. The transistors are also damaged, ie they are short-circuited
I think the T7 gate lacks a source of oscillations as far as I can see. I'll check and we'll know

It's not. While I wait for 74HC02 74HC04 and 74HC08 to arrive. I checked all the semiconductors and comparators. Everything is correct. If by any chance a small SMD resistor burns out, the only thing left is the 74HC circuit. I know for sure if the 74HC04 inverter circuit is not working well. There is no voltage of 170V.

I finally got the TSSOP14 adapter so I made a tester for all three IC circuits. Since two inputs are required, I used two buttons to connect to ground to give a low level state while not pressed is a high level state. I connected the LEDs to each output of the logic circuit and I can see the output state exactly. If some output does not match the logic tables of the 74HC IC circuit we can easily see which circuit is incorrect. The scheme is simple by connecting all the inputs in parallel to the buttons and the outputs are all on LEDs. I bring a 5V power supply and testing can begin.
You can see what it looks like in the pictures, and I made a video, but the explanations are not in English.

Yes. That is why you need to put a 1kohm resistor series wit a LED on the return signal from the EDU i.o. to see if edu will communicate to ecu on the car. Look in Autodata and you will se those 2 pins from ecu to edu. One is a signal out from ecu to edu and the other one is reverse... the feedback signal from edu to ecu.

also different reference numbers can be exchanged?

Another experience..... Checked all the elements on the circuit board and everything is correct. I wasted days checking two or three EDU computers. It doesn't work, it doesn't work...
One day I sit down and solve them all quickly and easily. I checked all the fine lines. And if they look visually correct, by checking the conductivity. Imagine there was no conduction. All thin lines next to large solder points where the voltage and frequency are high. Damage to thin lines is possible. Or mechanical interruptions during unprofessional desoldering of components.....

if someone changes the 7809 then for correct low dropuot type - if the car starts and the voltage on the battery falls to 9-10V then the cheap 7809 has not enought input voltage ( in some cases with bad joints to 1500uF Capacitor its more often )
i changed 50+ LDO for LM2940-8.0 lov dropout and the units newer returned.
i have repaired or remanufactured 1000+ EDUs
