Hi

I found no vcc 3.3v to AN2135SC fromvoltage regulator. Actually there is no +5v IN from usb port to oltage regulator . Need +5v on both pins (1 and 3)
Anyone have opened clip pcb to check where from need to receive this regulator IN voltage?
On red arrow no +5V on image,normally no 3v3 to blue arrow,but on green there is +5v
Also from back side near usb connis also same vol.reg and its have all voltages ok

This sot23 is controled by motorola mcu and problem is in most cases in mcu (no conditions to open L04), so only solution is send back to china.

copy file from dvd to desktop or from the original and load when it plugs in to the car and asks for the cypress driver it will ask if you want to automatically want windows to load click no
you will find driver to install show the file in the desktop and it should load
also some more learned guys on the forum have produced step by step instructions to load if you use the search facility

but, if you want to hear my opinion, then I think that you have malfunction CLIP device, ISO part of it is not functioning properly, and need to be repaired. It doesnt matter if you have both green LEDs for ISO and CAN illuminated, that is not a prof of fully functional CLIP device.

Hi, I have clip clone and software v108. From what you have written it sounds like I have the same problem.

Installed fine with 4 drivers etc, but when connecting to the car, I enter the VIN manually (how do you make it read it automatically??). Select engine/chassis code etc then run a full computer test. There is clicking noise, dashboard display flashes on/off a couple of times, then I get a screen showing various computers. The UCH I can get at fine, but the ECU is unavailable. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the car. I bought the CLIP to diagnose a non-runner.

Other weird things: cannot read any live data - error message says "ISOxxxxx not supported" or somesuch thing. This is basic shit right? An ELM 327 should read it no problem.

Mileage reported is not consistent with the dashboard.

What do you all think? Is the CLIP broken? Anything else I could try?

Further to my last message, the exact error displayed by CLIP is:
DIALOGUE NOT ESTABLISHED: CHECK
That the vehicle has OBD equipment
The connection to the vehicle
Protocols supported by the tool:
-ISO 9141-2
-ISO 14230-4

Car is Megane II (2008) 1.5dci

Any thoughts?

After you connect supply on obd, then connect USB, run soft.

Check voltage on pin 6 and 14, you need about 2.50V

If you have it, then check LED diodes if only 1 is turned ON, than you have problem with ic on 2. picture where is 4.88V shown

Hi i want to test this but i don't understand realy what do you mean. Do i need to connect the clip to car and turn key on ( without start the engine ) and connect to USB. And next do i need to test all voltage on our pictures ?

One more question to this topic , in the first pages BeianM (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/members/98678-beianm/) has was saying something about Clip stopping at 98% when trying to read the VIN. And unfortunately he has some time since the last login.

I have the same problem when i try to read VIN , it will stop at 98% for some time and then error (i can hear some relays working).

Another problem is that i only have 3V on K-line instead of 12V.
Looked around the topic and verified all the common problems now i am looking to the AN2135SC chip. Mention that the interface will install drivers and blink all LEDs properly.


Has anyone had this problem ? will AN2135SC help me?

Maybe you want to sell something better, but i tell to everybody there is no clip better. Its really just 1 factory just 1 manufacturer of CLIP of 1 year sold clip and all CLIPS you use here was build just 1 time in 1 month 100.000 pcs .
Factory its closed about CLIP production.
When all unfortunately suppliers will sell all tools of this factory,they will change the PCB and IC-s.

this will be maybe after 1 year.

so better learn about controllers and ic-s to fix your NEW f/king clip. Why all users that they use clip owned since 3-4 years ago have not any problems?

Desolder and read it with a good programmer suited for am29f800, e.g. gq-4x or better. Make a copy of the contents and write it to the new chip, and AFTER this writing you may solder the new chip on the Clip pcb. That`s all m8 !

29F800 is programmed by the MC68 , and the 20% firmware problem come when the MC68 can not write to 29F . but if you reprogram it manually , it will not solve the problem.

Hello for All. I have a lot of problems with clip, first was a problem with 20%, after checking I found a problem with can board, some cold soldering on transistors. I repaired this but after that I have problem with drivers for PC although they exists in system before. Now after connection to Pc, system discovered a new device , it should be usb hub but don't recognize corectly and doesn'n find correct drivers for cypress or generic. Now I don't know, there is some problem with hardware or something else. Someone wrote before about some drivers for the cypress. I couldn't find them anywhere. Could someone put this drivers here on this topic? Please.

A few days ago, I bought a f***ing Chinese CLIP for ?220. With the v.110 works fairly well, BUT only at a voltage greater than 13V on the OBD connector.
Otherwise, the firmware update error 20%. So.
Luckily I am an electronic engineer and I intend to take it apart (I'll lose the guarantee) to see what the counterfeits are soldered there.:hmmmm2:

I'm thinking about one question. Someone on this forum wrote that the original clip doesn't have a problem with "20%", only clones have this problem. Did someone compare firmware from flashes between original and clone? If they are different maybe someone tried loading FW from original to Clone and what happens? Because I'm afraid that even when you will change flash IC's for better quality and write FW from clone, the problem "20%" will never be back.

since some days my clip stop on 20% . With file APPLI.bak i found that is CAN pcb in fault.
So i apply hot air on 29F800 and clip start fine.
After some few minutes, when 29F is cold : clip don't start, so i apply another hot air and start.

K line work ok,but CAN line after 2-3 min connected on car stop work.All led's are on but CAN not work.Than i must leave disconnected from car several minutes and again work only 2-3 min.

Just got can clip v112. First time it runs good, but after few minutes reconection I have got software error: "Sensor allocation failed...", and find that CAN green led is off, and in the device manager I find only one driver (ISO).
I have read all thread but did'nt find similar software error...?
Maybe this is faulty clip?

Before you go through all of the above, do this.
Put your clip in an oven at the lowest level for four hours.
Worked for me, now goes past the firmware update & works ok expcept not reading the vin.

Manual installation brings down system in " the Dark blue screen ". Such picture on different notebooks, by virtual machines, on different versions Windows.
The instruction is necessary for definition and replacement of a faulty element. What payment is responsible for work ISO? I have not seen Bad soldering and the burnt slightly elements.
In this theme there are many useful posts on repair. They can be united in one theme and to lay out in section FAQ. It will Be useful for everyone who searches for the decision on repair. And less than such silly questions which are set by me.
P.S.
At attempt to establish driver ISO the system flies, in the dispatcher of devices there is " a Unknown device "

My clip died as a result of being fed 12v into the diagnostic connector from my Lag 2 (due to a water getting into my headlight levelling computer connector in the wheel arch :()

It still clicks, all the LEDs work fine, and it can talk to _some_ computers, like the ECU in my dad's Trafic and the instrument cluster in my car. However, it won't pick up the VIN automatically or talk to the other computers at all.

I did a rudimentary check of the PCB that the vehicle interface connects to (the one with the single mini USB port on it) and found a few of the small white components under where the vehicle interface PCB connects appear dead (infinite resistance in either direction) - if they are SMD fuses (I assumed they might be - the only components that look the same are in the data lines under the USB ports on the other PCB) does anybody know the value of them? They seem to be totally unmarked (I've tried macro photos :P)

I'll try and post a pic as my description of the parts in question isn't very helpful... But mainly, I was posting so I can download some of the images in this thread to see what the problems with other's CLIP units were.

Edit: Pics of the components in question attached. Any help would be very much appreciated, since even though my car (unusually) is actually working alright at the moment, I know I'll need it soon and if I have to take it to Monsieur Renault, you can be sure it won't be worth it.

First mallfunction is "iso" led not working and only 2 can driver installed.Changed places of two oscilators 32.768KHz and all led is on and all 4 drivers now installed but update firmware stuck on 20% beacuse can board motorola mcu not working.After replace oscilator 32.768KHz with new one,firmware update go to 100%. Today I tryed my "home made repaired" :o clip, so, it is not good.. :bawling:

explain of my story: first time My clip was working very well, but 15 days ago I tryed to use but it had the problem ISO green led not working (and the sw cannot see it) , so first time I changed the AN2135SC hub as explained in the pic of the first post, and after my first test it gave same problem iso green led off.
So I changed the AN2135SC on the second board, then I tested on a car and ISO green led was still off.
Then I tried to change pc, and I used a virgin xp pro sp3 with only sw 116 installed and now I'm in this state ;
the pc has recognize it as "Generic usb hub" (not "CYPRESS" as normal) and it install "only" 1 driver called "JCAE CAN APRES RENUMERATION" , no others... ISO green led allwais still off :banghead:

is it needed to change also the oscilator 32.768KHz ? as mr kelekele sayd? or maybe I have to check/change something else ?

In my opinion rarly the reason is cypres.
Ofcourse you can change oscilator 32.768KHz,they are cheep and very easy to replace,that woud be good next step.
Other posible reasons when I look other people problems and solution is Motorola and AM29F.....RAM,etc you can look the whole thread a bit...

first thing... change oscilators on both PCB (ISO,CAN), than if not working do other repairs.

1 step. Did you resolder all pcb? ;)
2 step. Did you check power to cypress, motorola, flash, ram etc.... Then you do this you can change some components on iso.
3. Crysrals you can swap from Can to iso to check if it helps.

update: yesterday I was going to melt my brain... (my very low knowledge is the first obstacle so...), but today I started from the original state (maybe crazy but...)
1: I resolded the 2 old cypress on the 2 pcb, tetsted and.. the pc installed only 1 driver generic usb hub

2: I tryed to swap the two oscilator 32.768KHz (as you suggest), tested and...
finally the 2 driver iso istalled!!! iso led ON

now I think the best idea is just change the bad oscillator in the can pcb and see the result,
I will buy the oscilator and will try..

crystal is internaly connected to pins 1 and 4 if you can solder the two pin one
the other two pins are not connected

Pin 2-3 are not used... so if you want to use none SMD verison, just solder it to pin 1-4.

That oscilators 32.768 kHz with 2 pins can be found on computer motherboards... ;)

with multimeter set on lowest ohm reading and/or diode
check diodes for short circuit or open circuit
check transistors for short circuit between all or two pins
a failed junction will show few ohms, if you get this you got to unsolder an verify again that component
check with magnifying glass for bad solder points or cracks in pcb tracks
check cables usb and obd, check multipin conectors between two boards and connector for obd board (contact spray)

did you try only on one car? if so, try another with can maybe that car has an issue (measure voltage in obd connector with key on and a 15-25w light bulb for some
current draw)
if it's sonde defect , after checkin bad connections and solder points try to change oscillators, read the whole thread to find out how

I tried in 2 cars that were working before, but with exactly the same behavior, VIN collection : 90 % of CAN error and 10 % of success but diag is still not working properly.

they are all capacitors !!!! multimeter shows no resistance on them
if you look closely on board resistors are dark gray and marked with values, even the smallest ones
R72 & R74 MUST BE C72 , C74

Hi all must say a quick thanks for this post as i have been reading it a few times trying to fix my clip which was working fine untill I had a vehicle with bad earth and starting motor problems, this I think has caused some sort of damage to the clip but i can't seem to repair it...... maybe you can help

I'm am getting two red led's (USB & Batt) and the green ISO led,

1) have checked soldering joints and gone around with the hot air gun.
2) have swapped over the cypress chips from iso to can.
3) swapped over the crystals from iso to can
4) checked voltage at both cypress chips (3.1v or 3.3v can't remember exactly.)
5) checked voltage at both mc68hc16 ( 5.02v)
6) changed the usb cable

the probe shows up in the clip software but when try to connect I get a error.

have I missed something maybe I can't see the wood for the trees... :-) not sure where to go next!!!!!!

I didn't change oscillator 32.768KHz, but I solved my problem by changing two of the eight transistors FTMM 619 on ISO board.

Sorry for the simple question but not sure how to test them I can use a multimeter (voltage, resistance or short circuit checking) but not sure what that component should or shouldn't be doing..... if it's a different number on component then would it operate a different way. I take it were talking about the three legged black item???

identification -diodes - two legged black with one line representing cathode
checking 1. put multimeter on lowest ohm reading (mine is 2k and has a beeper if resistance is less than 200 ohm)
if it beeps on diode it is shorted, you have to unsolder and recheck if still shorted replace.
2. put multimeter on diode range ; put red wire on anode and
black on cathode. if diode is ok you should get 120 - 800 mv reading on scale (120 for sckotky and more for normal diode)
reverse leads on diode terminal you should have no current passing throu the diode. if measurements are uncertain because of other components you can unsolder an check then

transistor -three legged things most of them are mosfets
mosfet has one junction so you can measure one diode between terminals (you have to determine which ones)
if you measure less than 100 mv on diode scale or multimeter
beeps on lowest ohm scale you have to unsolder an remeasure if short circuit still present than replace
bipolar transistor have two diodes you can measure with multimeter on diode scale
I used this (http://www.s-manuals.com/smd) to decode transistor types
please watch this and this
you are basicaly looking for short circuit (less than 20 - 40 to 0 ohm between pins ), blown mosfest die in short circuit
blown bipolars have only one junction or none, you have to do trial an error to find out if it is dead bipolar or alive mosfet
there are more transistors of the same type on the board so you can compare measurements.
i had a board (not clip) with shorted electrolitic capacitor and blown diode. i replaced diode twice before finding capacitor, so you should measure caps (https://www.google.com/search?q=electrolytic+smd+capacitors&hl=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=Pvk0UdyQGoX04QTG-YCYAQ&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1186&bih=576) also
