Hi,

I have read almost all this thread in past days + other threads in this forum and I have mess in my head about VCDS clone stuff, must clarify some things about cable versions.

1st:
What is latest sw I can use with BL chip?
What is latest sw I can use with RL chip?
I have 2x dead RL interface and I would like to get them working with 11.2. Also I have working BL interface and software 908 - will be anything more up to date working with it?

2nd:
One of RL cables I have, i suspect dead transistor, please explain how it must be tested and what should be used as replacement?

I'm trying to repair the same interface, but no success.
I removed T5, R50 and IC8, programmed ATMEGA, but it's not working.
In the end I programmed GAL with the software from FTDI RL (probably it was a mistake).
What should I do?

I have 2 vcds 10.6.2 (china) all of them has same problem .
Cable dont find a car. Anybody know whats the problem?

M8 for your tool it is not necessary to reflash GAL becasue it is a tool with BL
But did you reflashed well?
I can tell you no many programmers do this well for GAL aspecially that ones "home made"
Try to reflash the Atmega and FTDI again and use the right version of VCDS.

Hi Guys,

Just bought a new VCDS (11.10) to replace the broken one I had, and when I try the connection test it shows:

Port status:OK
Interface not found!

First I've tried to reflash the FTDI232, but still the same.
I've reflashed the Atmega162, but now the led will not light up, and the connection problem is still there. (and also, UPA only reads 0000 now from the Atmega, whereas before reflash it read out the whole content)

What should I do now?

I update today software vcds to version 11.11.2 from oficial site rosstech i plug my interface to usb pres test buton and test woz god the software force mi do update firmware to version 1.84 i update it and after push test buton and again test woz ok but wen i push ABOUT buton the program sais to mi UNREGISTERED UNAUTORIZED
OK i reprogram atmega wit YAS200979 dump for version firmware 1.84 and push ABOUT buton and now VCDS sais FULLI REGISTERED ACTIVATED
Mi qestion is did i macke my clone to worck proper again wit newest software or it wil not worck i do not hav car to giv it a try??????

If you want to use the last versions of VCDS from ross-tech you have to buy the tool from them
In your case you have to use just the version of dump
If you'll use it with new version in a short time you'll need to reflash your tool again

VCDS clones can be updated just with dumps and use just with the dump versions or previos version of the dump version.

I never saw that HW but I bet that there is one STS uC (maybe the top right chip on the second picture)

Remove it!

Then reflash ATMEGA and FTDI with latest dumps.

You don't need to use a modded installer.

If you're still getting trouble, read the attached file.

By the way... which are the references of all ICs? There must be a ATMEGA162, GAL16V8, 93CX6, 7805...

My friend that it is one of the newest tools from China
That STC it is there but it has no influence in reflashing Atmega.
So you do not need to unsloder it.
Take a look in another kind of VCDS tools from China , newer once.
You do not need to unsolder the STC.

Yah! I know that the STS only reflashs the FTDI's external EEPROM.

But what's the point of that chip if you're using good dumps?

Also, if your cable is dead, you must reflash ATMEGA and/or FTDI's external EEPROM.

This new one do not reflash FTDI, reflash Atmega.
Let's say that it it's say Unregistred.
What I have to do is that just to unplag the cable from USB and from OBD connector and plug it back
All fine again, Full Registred
So this STC in the new kind of VCDS tools it is for Atmega not for FTDI
Look at the other side of the tools, you'll see that STC for FTDI it isn't there.

You can reflash Atemga without unsolder the Atmega
But if you'll upgrade the Atmega this will become unusless as you said.

Reflash your Atmega without unsolder the STC.
If you have the tool I'm taliking about you don't need to unsolder and I'm pretty sure that you have this kind of tool.
If it dosen't let you flash the Atmega in this case you have to unsolder that STC.
Too many kind of tools and we cannot be such sure what it is really good for a tool or not.
Try and tell us after.

Ok let me explain to you
Let's say the the tool come with 11.2 dump
If you use with upgraded version it will not be erased anymore.
If you reflash it with other dump let's say with 11.11 dump the tool will work with this version but if you will try to upgrade it the Atmega will be erased
What I wanna tell you it is that you do not need to unsolder that STC to reflash the Atmega, this was the discution.
In the old tool you need to remove STC transistor and a rezistor if you like to reflash Atmega but in this new tool you do not need to this.

No if you upgrade the Atmega you have to reflash it back by AVR programmer
STC will become unusefull.
If you reflash Atmega with 11.2 back the STC will become usefull again
You can use it the dump 11.2 with upper version ( chinese cheat peaple like this ) but will not work well, it become unstable for newer version.
If you flash the Atmega with upgraded verion the STC become unusefull but the tool become stable.
So your options are correct

Unsolder the stc and reflash atmega. And mandatory uninstall any version of VCDS you have and reinstall 10.6.4 and 11.2.0

In your first picture you have:
from left to right upper side = atmega and ftdi
bottom side= mcp 2551, mcp2515 and 93c46.

well, 2515 is "20-Lead Plastic Thin Shrink Small Outline (ST) ***8211; 4.4 mm (TSSOP)"?
I can't see because of bleu wire.. this IC have 20 pins?

Can you post another photo without programmer wires?

I've removed the STC, reprogrammed the Atmega. Now, when plugging into the USB port the content of the Atmega is not rewritten.

But still, the LED will not light up, and the VCDS gives out the following error:

Hmmm... I think you must plug the cable into 12V.

Does the cable shows in "Device Manager" as "ROSS TECH HEX-USB"? If not you need to reflash FTDI.

Go to Option and then TEST
And what is the message?
After this in the ABOUT you have to have Full Registred/Activated
If you have't this you cannot go ahead becasue you didn't reflash it well
If it's show you Full Registred/Activated then you can check the k-line or the CAN
Check this first

It is not clear if it is FT232BM or RL as there are different reviewers and seems to have a NEC D78F0513A.
then i had a look on here and noticed people mentioning newer versions is this cable updateable or am i better getting a newer version and if so which one is a better choice and where from please.Any advice would be great

The dump works with VCDS 10.6.4 and 11.2 original installers
Ok there is VCDS 11.3 modified which works with this dump

Mate you read but I suppose that you don't understand everything.
Atemega dump has two parts
One it is firmwear - this mean that all softwears from VCDS 10.6.4 till now works with this firmwear 1.84
This it is necessary in all VCDs languages from VCDS 10.6.4 till now
And the second part of the Atmega which is the eeprom
This part eeprom make the diffeent, in this it is the serial that activate the softwear.
So firmwear it is for all new language versions of VCDS but if you want to activate the softwear you need th eeprom file from dump to make it works.
I suppose that you understand me.
Look in the dump posted by miha99
This dump works with english version

It is hard to find for free an english version dump.
In other languages i suppose you'll never find it for free.
But this is my opinion

Yes, you can find (buy) the polish EEPROM but it's cheaper to buy original cable. (and then you can use it with any language) my bad :)

You can use it with any versiopn u want but that tool it hasn't dump for 11.11
Yes you can see that after a while your tool it'll become Unregistred
You cannot update a clone without dump just if you modify the softwear and use the right firmwear

until now I never seen Chinese interface to work with version greater than 11.20
work with 11.11x but only a few minutes and blocked until replugged

If you want I will sedn you the VCDS 11.11.0 serial by PM and you can compare with yours.
I can choose with VCDS 11.11.1 or 11.11.2 but then I have to reflash the tool.
So in a minutes I will send you the serial by PM and the serial of VCDS 11.11.0 dump using VCDS 11.3

Chinese produce millions of clones with the same serial.
Few hours after first sells RT put serial in blacklist.
Any serial used from Chinese does not remain a secret.

I have this 805 interface with the 6 diodes in 2 rows.
I removed the STC transistor and resistor...
I flashed eprom and flash of atmega with working files for 11.2...
I configured locks and fuses as the tutorial on this thread (with UPA falses=0=activated)
Mprog'd the BL's 93c56

The interface lights red then green.
Its detected but gives this on VCDS 10.6.4

SELF TEST FAILED!
K1 OK
K2 OK

I did the same to a dead 607 interface and the result is the same with 10.6 dumps and soft OR VCDS 805 dumps and software...

I even wrote the ATF or GAL in these interfaces...
Tried exchanging MPC etc etc to no success...

I'm feeding only 12v and GND but i have also tried in a car.
Tried in VMware 10.6.4 and 908.

What the hell is wrong?

Where is CAN not ready?????

There was a shorted transistor in 805 that i replaced. maybe it damaged the can ic?

just tried more MCU eeproms and flashs and same results.
I tried also with 805 dumps and VCDS and result its the same (self test failed) except fw is 1.78...

BTW the 805 atmega had originally this config in lock bits:

LB1 0
LB2 0
BLB01 0
BLB02 0
BLB11 0
BLB12 0

I used the config from the tutorial with BLB01 and 2 disabled ( = 1)

Can it be hardware that is messed up?

- English 11.11.0 or higher
- Any other language clone version (Romanian, Russian, German...)

There is no point to dump EEPROMs like English 605, 704, 805, 908, 10.6.4, 11.2... Those are already posted in this thread.

Dani for your tool you can use VCDS 10.6.4 it is very stable becasue it is a release softwear not a beta.
I can send you the VCDS 11.2 and the VCDS 11.3 that you can use with your interface and you don't need to change the computer date.
But I don't know how stable item are becasue I never used beta versions, I used always just the released versions

For testing VCDS "on table" I connected a CAN Gateway 1K0 907 530 P at an OBD2 female socket, an airbag controler 1C0 909 601 at K-line and two wires between pins 74 and 74 of airbag controler (can line airbag) and can line for airbag of CAN GAteway controler.

K line is ok, airbag controler respond, 19 can gateway respond on can but... on can say "airbag controler not present".

Why? That Can Gateway cannot recognize that airbag controler?

1.I use PonyProg2000 for Atmega162. And MProg3.5 for FTDI.

The interface function as the 908. I would like to 11.2. After programming the Atmega and FTDI are such problems as I wrote. Maybe a bad program adjusts to BIN for atmega?

You're not using good dumps.

Try using good ones.

Also, remove STC uC, resistor and transistor like mishu_b said.

By the way: did you assembled the PCB??? If you did make sure every component is well placed and soldered!!!!

You don't need a clip. Just solder 4 wires directly in the ATMEGA.

You're right! I was working in a friend's cable which as those terminals. ;) It's much easier to reflash the ATMEGA.

Another curious thing is one cable I have: if the USB is not plugged you can't reflash the ATMEGA.

The programming software says that can't find the uC.

If you plug the USB terminal, the reflash works like a charm :)

You guys should keep this in mind to prevent troubles in the future...

My guess is that 5V at the output of the 7805 are not powering up the ATMEGA, instead the ATMEGA is powered via USB!!!

Try this: with ohmmeter the continuity between Vcc of ATMEGA and pin 3 of 7805.
with voltmeter with cable plugged at 12V..check +5V Vcc of atmega and after with only usb pluggged, check +5V Vcc Atmega. And you'll see where is powered..

I know as to make a clone from an original cable on chip FT232R. And I know as to force this EEPROM from atmega to work at other cable. Who wants to make a clone from the original cable, write to a PM.

If you use RL you need to bypass the FTDI signature.

You're right, but, i can't write the atmega without 12V and usb connected. Try write atmega only with usb plugged.

hi, its really dificult solder the 4 wires to atmega :(

well, i had discovered a problem while scanning an Audi S4.

When i tried to view measures block and adaptations like channel 60/61 i receive a message like "you need original licence".

But, i can view/delete all DTCs

Somebody has the same problem?

What software is a guy supposed to use together with a Nec equipped "vag106" cable?
I bought one and the cd that came with it was cracked in two pieces :)
Never got to test it/ make it work with VCDS 10.6.4 as i did with my older 607 and 704 after i updated them

You have 2 options:

1 - Learn how to reflash your cable, that includes soldering those 4 thin wires into the ATMEGA. Everyone that posted on this thread was able to solder those wires. So I bet you can also do it... I have faith on you :P Good luck!!!

2 - Buy new tools whenever your old tools get unregistered.

With all my cautions... I need to reflash my cable every month... But I don't even delete d1, d2 and d3 files or being carefully when the computer is online.

I just don't give a f*** about that because I learnt how to repair the cable

So... you should also learn this too... for your own know-how :)

Then, when the cable is dead you just reflash it :)

If you were connected to the Internet and the program started to kill obviously working cable, it is necessary to remove d1-d3 files, and to replace "codes.dat" file.

Hello,
My friend bayed vcds 10.6.4 clone and bricked it.
Its looks like genuine interface!!!
Hardware is different than on this forum listed,
it has :
atmlh134 you can erase it as 93c46
Before programming atmega162 you need to remove
STC11F01 security chip!
Thats all, it works!

That is used if you want nobody read content of atmega,

It is one of dumps when I helped people to make a cable clone. But I don't sell these dumps and I can not show serial number.
The EEPROM doesn't depend on the program version. Your statement is incorrect. Any EEPROM will work with the program while Ross won't write down it in a black list.

trying to repair 908rl chinese clone ,when the soft starts gives an error (time out ) what is the problem . another thing i read in garageforum the Gal could be removed and replaced with some connections ,is this help to upgrade RL interface's to 11.2 ?!!!!!

Your cable is a RL cable. STC, R and reseter/diode was unsoldered, the GAL was unsoldered and resoldered, i suppose it was reprogrammed. If not, must unsolder again and programmed with the .jed file (is posted on dk, few pages before/earlier).

And must resolder GAL and solder 3 wires like in Aminebot's tutorial.

After, reprogramm ATMEGA and eventualy FT232RL.

But, my opinion, who soldered on your cable atmega pins and resoldered GAL, he don't work tidy. Try to use RMA-223-Amtech-1010 flux and a good iron.
