Default How to program Toyota Prius Smart Key?

Anyone tried to follow the instructions in Autodata to program the Smart Key Prox and Remote features on a 2008 Toyota Prius Smart Key. The car starts but no remote or prox functions at all. Have wasted hours on this car with no success at all. This car has the silver logo on the back of the original key and the new key i have been supplied by Toyota has the Black logo on the back of the key, I thought this was the problem but according to Toyota it doesnt make any difference and you can use either type key. So i have no choice but to believe that but here I am 6 hours later still trying to get the Autodata instructions to work so either there wrong or the key is different and needs a silver logo on the back and not black. Anyone tried this before and know anything about getting it to work? thanks for any help

key is brand new from dealer. So you mean Black logo key is not Prox and silver logo key is prox? Is it still possible to use the black logo key in this car or must it be another silver logo like the original key is? thanks

So weird, I rang Toyota Dealer again today and they say you can use the Black logo key in place of the silver logo key. Everyone but Toyota are saying this is not possible just like you gwee.

the original key works perfect including prox, the new key only starts the car and no prox or remote works. I tried today with gwee's solution using Techstream and another key but cant get techstream to work, theres no smart key programming option i can find anywhere and now my techstream died. I tried GSCAN and although it says successful it still wont work, im sick of this car

if the MHz is the same then u can use the ori key in the slot and switch ignition on and go to smart and add remote , then press the button on the second remote .

this smart remote don't get program when the transponder part works ,also u need a working key in slot to program your remote .
