You can't change VIN in CAS2/CAS3 with INPA or P.A.Soft 2.0.1,

you can do it manualy with Rosfar/9x12tool, or with Abrites BMW Commander trough OBDII....

I'm not say about possibilities to change VIN in CAS with Tool32, because this is very difficult for newbie.

and VIN is checksumed 1 times, UIF VIN (short VIN in bottom) you can set to 000000 - like in new cas

Now this BMW E60 can start engine.He's cranking but not starting.In ECU have error "EWS Tampering" only.

i am also trying to do the same thing . every time i change the vin in the cas and then put back on the car the vin disapears, all i have is 17xy where the vin should be, the vin short at the bottom of the cas2 stays ok . can anyone help with this , car starts fine but have abs and other problems.

You can change the Cas3's vin# but without
the correct checksum it'll dissappear once cas box power-up.
Impossible for you to get correct checksum.
You must bring the car to BMW dealer for coding.

I bet your car never start in the 1st place before you
change the VIN#.
You must have destroyed your original cas3 dump.
Using other car cas3 dump will not work also
not possible to change the VIN# yourself.

Not only VIN is needed to start. The MOST important is the pass (immo ID). In CAS its 6 byte and in older EWS systems its just 2 bytes.
The full VIN is checksummed 1 time.
like Neo said: put 0000 as UIF and syncronise CAS or Update + code.

I never had to found out where it is in CAS only in DDE/DME,but if you post 2 dump sets of DDE-CAS i will find out

UIF is not that hard mate. its in ASCII. Checksum byte of VIN is in hex directly after VIN

Hi Sorry to barge in on this post, please if any one can help... I have corrupted a cas unit on a 2004 730d while trying to do the mileage.. Its a cas 1, I've read the flash and eeprom data with a 912 programmer and cross referenced them with another cas 1 flash and eeprom data... The Original (cas) data is definately corrupted... Would someone be able to help me virginise the cas unit so i can get it programmed back to the car by the dealers or is it possible to program back into the car with inpa 2.0 bmw software... Also, when you buy a cas unit from the dealers, is it already programmed with the flash file??????

All info and help appreciated please... I have opened a new post for my problem..

VIN in every BMW module can change with WinKFP via OBDii.But if you want to change a DME you must sync CAS with DME.Until 2006 this can be done with DIS.After then i'm still searching it.

i changed how you told me VIN number ,but in ABS/ESP control unit same error's left.

C1F54 - Cas Can message signal/chassis number not OK

C1EBA - Steering angle sensor faulty

C1EFC - Variant code Component incorrectly programmed.

C1F49 - Can message, instrument cluster Error in data transfer.



I only changed Cas unit - programmed for start and changed vin .


When i check with inpa in cas module : yyyyyyyyyyyy <- vin number :/

I write now good vin and left only one fault code :

i try with inpa,avdi,dis ,but i can't function to recalibrate steering angle sensor :/ maybe some one know how to do this?

i try drive 20-30km/h and turn wheel to right and left ,but nothink same error.
