p1615 comes up for a number of reasons

a common one is system is locked due to wrong pin entry or blip , disconnect negative lead on battery for 30 minutes , then reconnect and see if any difference
another is bad transponder in new key
another is faulty bcm
procedure errors during programming process

have you tried just programming the customers original key on its own ? does this go back in no problem and light and fault code gone , if so this would suggest your key or chip is bad.

what tool are you using ? is it oem new virgin key ?

first thing id suggest is battery reset , disconnect negative lead for 30 mins and then reconnect and see if anything differs with original key

is pin code 100% correct as entering incorrect pin code will lock the system .

is battery voltage good and try with maintainer.

with this qashqai , as ikey system , on the twist turn ignition unit , is the also a small black button ? if yes then during procedure when cycling the ignition with the key blade , when told to turn the ignition off its essential when turned off you press this button and turn the key off it turns off further , if this isnt done then the vehicle doesnt see the ignition fully turned off and programming fails .

also after programming is complete , turn ign off and wait a minute or 2 before trying to start the car

In these twist prox cars you often see the key presence and demand switches fail, which causes issues during key or remote programming. Your faults show an unprogrammed key which is causing the lock mode and chain of immo-ecu faults.

as stated first try battery reset , disconnect battery negative for 30 mins then reconnect , has this solved the problem with the original key, have you even tried this yet ?

normally if car is locked after programming the key then the wrong pin code was used , if the case above battery reset should fix the issue so original key works , also delete fault codes.

when programming a key , assuming that the pin code is correct as if not it wont work then the following is relevent ;

1. Complete Key programming procedure , disconnect programmer and verify that the key light turns GREEN when the brake pedal is
pressed and the ignition is turned to the first position.

2. If the key light turns GREEN, the key is programmed, get out of the car and leave it for 2 minutes. Check the vehicle
starts after 2 minutes

Do Not try to start the vehicle straight after key programming !!!!

Try the procedure with a different better tool , especially the pin read procedure , to ensure you have the correct pin code or buy the pin from the main dealer or code broker .
no amount of programming and answers online will help you , nor will skype , do the battery reset see if things change , then if you dont have another tool option then call a local auto locksmith to try with different programmers , failing this it will be a trip to nissan .

Rapid, on these vehicles you get the 'lock mode' code even without incorrect PIN entry as soon as an incorrect key is presented. You are correct you should allow the programming session to end before attempting to start the car. However if the programming procedure was completed for the transponder it should start fine without the keyless system. I believe the keyed immobiliser(remembering this is a keyed car with a smart key system pasted over the top) is not finishing it's routines and not allowing a start. Furthermore the immo light response reported indicates a correct PIN entry as he's getting the 5 flashes of the immo light for key learning. Key light green is only for keyless function, we should still have keyed immobiliser function if the routines were completing correctly.

Jihed, on this vehicle I would suggest you get a tool capable of reading live data and check the condition of the key presence and demand switches. If these are not working 100% properly you will get incorrect conditions during either key or remote learn. If you don't have a tool capable of observing live data you're probably taking a trip to Nissan or a proper auto locksmith. I repair a lot of these vehicles with damaged switches in the steering lock assembly after key programming is attempted because they work enough to start but not well enough for the immobiliser and keyless system to be happy the routine has been followed properly.

you still have not answered earlier questions , in particular is there a small black button on the underside of the twist turn unit , if so did you depress this button whilst turning ignition off further , so ignition turns fully off when instructed to turn off the ignition ? if your car has this button and you did not depress it whilst turning ignition fully off then programming will fail as you are not fully turning off the ignition when instructed to do so , if you dont have this button then this is not relevent.

when you read the pin , was pin read from the system and it gave you an old pin and a new pin , ie pin for models pre 2009 and pin for models after 2009 , if so did you try both ? or did you use the code on the glovebox label to convert this to pin code ?

in any case , never try starting car straight after programming , always disconnect programmer , wait 2 minutes before trying to start the car.

spiratech i agree , the reason i ask him about presence of the small button , is if it has this button and he is not using it to fully turn off the ignition when prompted it is going to fail.

ive had similar on a j10 non keyless model , new key failed every time even after 5 flashes , almost always turned out to be a faulty ignition housing and switch not fully turning ignition off despite dash going off and everything seeming normal change the housing and no more issues keys went straight in.

it looks like from his fault code photo he has an old avdi with old software which should give him access to live data .

i cant advise on this with obdstar as i dont use obdstar , i tend to use truecode or avdi , your programmer should either ask you if you want to program the keyless remote and you select yes and follow the prompts on screen , or with some tools you select program remote and follow screen prompts .
when prompted to press a button on remote do so quickly , quickly press and release the remote button do not hold button down too long.
