Got myself one of these boxes that must be a CLONE as there is no little reset button on the motherboard. I have scanned for channels and all is ok but i cannot update the firmware to the KURO using the comport and serial method . I have tried pulling the plug around 4 times fast to see if that would help but the image will not write to the box. This leaves me in the position of manually putting in the new keys everytime they do a roll . Has anyone found a way around this problem yet ? Many thanks mentorman :hmmmm:

just a quick question.....If my eurovox max v was a clone....would it not let me install the new firmware and die when i tried to upload that....or as with the starview 1 .,.....will it let me upload the firmware....but then kill my box after a short time?

Hi Taz , if you have a EURO Max V clone you will know because there is no little black reset switch in the middle of the Motherboard . It will not allow you to upgrade the firmware either using the NULL MODEM cable to the serial port at the back ! If you have got the reset switch you are in luck but you need a good power supply to make it work properly ! Use the UFL Max 2008 self uploader to put on the new Auto update software on to comabat the keyrolls ok . Best wishes from Mentorman !

cheers mentorman.....do we have any software out for the max v clone yet?
I've had someone install the new firmware on my box already.....so i'm assuming as it is still working it is a genuine...fingers crossed. I havent opened it up to have a look myself
I'm a bit confused with a blue eurovox.......it has red paint on the screw....the scart bit is not silver as it should be on a genuine....however, it does have green capacitors.....i thought clones do not have the green capacitors?

If you try to flash a clone max v will it damage it at all? Is there any other way of detecting a clone other than taking it apart and looking for the reset button?
Thanks in advance.

Hey winkle 999 you dont have to take apart the box to see if it has the reset button . Just get a torh and shine through the grating on top. If its got one it is just off centre slightly to the right and it has a CAP in front of it ok .
If this has been helpful please click on the thanks button on the bottom right and merry xmas to you all ! mentorman !:dancing2:

Mentorman
are you saying you have found a way to get the firmware to upload to a clone?
Just thought id ask as ive got one here with no reset button (you can actually just bridge it and let go) which works but the UFL wont take as its designed to work only with genuine boxes or boxes that are more genuine than ours if you like

:alberteinstein:Hello markh29 no mate i have not came up with a solution for uploading the UFL to the clone MAX V boxes i was just merely pointing out how to spot one
without taking it to bits ! I am hoping that someone soon will make some image that can be installed directly as a TSOP file or something similar !
