My friend have bought one clone x-prog and don't work and during the use have demaged the uP. First you test the hardware. About the 9S12 the adapter need some modification. See the official document errata corrige of adapter : Xprog_errata_sheet_001
As for the software try again from your supplyer.

ecutool has the worst after sale service.

server with donwloads seems to be down. can happen and I guess you are not the only person who wrote email to them.
download xprog software here from forum.
