View Full Version : Swapping chips rather than editing...

I have a 2008 ford focus that needs mileage edited.

Buddy has a 2008 ford focus that was torched on the rear side, pointless to rebuild, but the computer components i'd need are perfect and it was only driven for 400 km before i caught fire. (leave it to ford....)

anyways...he says its possible to just swap the hardware with the chips that has the lower mileage information.

to me, from what i know about editing the information on the current hardware is complicated enough....

would it be easier and cleaner to just swap the chips? or edit them?

yeah, edit.

Lots of more info is stored in the chip, like key codes, vin etc.

they belong to that specific car.

Hi Mate
Take this advice from me unless you want to learn the hard way, before you change the mileage or change the clock always try to start the car without the clock if the car does not start then the car is protected with dash immo and you must consult the expert but on the other hand the car starts then I find no problem changing the clock mate.

Beautiful info, people!
I'll be sure to drop a donation to the board after I get this all worked out. resources like this should be supported.

I found a "pro" - not through referral.

When I ask if he uses american made equipment he responded:

"i use all hand written private software, 100% you will be satisfied." - i assume most of the software is "hand written" for this stuff - or like an open source, and able to tweak inside a program frame.

Is there any key questions I can ask him to make sure he's top notch?
