My strategy is wait until it is absolutely necessary to update. That way I can skip a few updates and save some money that can be spent on some other tools. SnapOn does not punish for skipping :).

I have this on subs and it does injector coding( never done bsi) along with power steering on the punto(ie ecu realign ect) it getting better with each update but is stil crap compaired to others out there

Snap-on don't skip m8 they charge for each update,, (vdobman) u must have an old cartrage scanner if u have that old software on mt 1200 or something and they can only update to 8.2 on that

I just updated to 10.4 here in the US I always update with in 30 days of the next release as snap on will usually consider you a good customer and you will get the next version free as a loyal customer. Check with you dealer as if I skip a update the price is double.

i just updated mine to 10.4.lots of function has been added with landrover coverage,but have to buy 2 keys one for dodge and second for landrover paid 1040 CDN dollers.

I think your "dealer" is giving you some BS. I skipped, a few updates and than updated with the newest from the site. Never had a problem.

What country are you in? I have never seen anyone update straight from snapon site only on the truck.

Yep, that is the way it works. Sometimes you can get them on eBay too. If you are a really cheap bastard (like me) wait for someone selling it on eBay.

BTW, you can grab a ShopStream Connect from that site. It didn't work a wile ago but it works again. Grab it b4 it disappears again.

I understand about updates now When I keep mine updated it only cost half of what the list price one the web site. Just paid 600 for my modis and 500 for my solus both were at 10.2

In my area snapon rules most shops especially with modis and built in vantage pro. Plus quick global health check for obd2 emission testing. I'm the only shop in my area that had quite a few oe scan tools. But almost always first tool out is my solus just for speed and ease to use.

A friend of M-H-M which trades as the same name as M-H-M parent company and is also a subsidiary as said parent company has a
Lunch X431, but it can only code ford focus, but not mondeo
(might be vise versa), so just worth checking with snap-off man

As your Sanp-Off man sells "Woo-Tang" tools, ask if they do anything before you part with your dough lol

Yep, Smirnoff is right. Anybody can get the update on CF card but as soon as you update your scanner the CF card is useless (I use'em for my X431). You can try to copy the CF card b4 you update your scanner (if some sort of copy protection does not exist there too) but, I think there is some sort of serial stamp in the software so even if in theory, you manage to copy the CF card and than share it. They will know who done it, because they have the serial with a credit card info on file. Than your ass is grass. So the question as to if it is possible to copy the S-on updates has to be divided in two categories. First is it possible to copy the card without destroying the data on it and second is it possible to change the serial in the data.

All of this is beyond my state of knowledge but I recall seeing some updates on some Chinese site. Could be a scam though.

Even if you guys consider kracing the system, it should be done in a private room with a chosen and trusted few not here as I'm pretty sure there is a lot of unfriendly eyes checking the progress of this enterprise.
