Dont Know how much it costs in ebay but in portugal V8 new version mcu are for selling for 80 / 60 euros...and its working well its what the people say :)

your tool has inside one piece of silicon called micro-controller (uC or mcu) produced by SiliconLabs: C8051F340

to programm such device you will need one other tool called programmer - this tool will help you to program or reprogram the uC. (not for free)

to reprogram you will need also the "dump" - piece of software which will be written into uC (up to know not for free)

if you want to change the actual uC with other uC (corect programmed) you will need other tool called "solder tool" - this can be borough from one friend for couple of minutes.

usually yes - you must see one sn there - but keeping in mind about this patch - i do not know how is behaving the tool.

If your prorammer supports programming c8051f430 in circuit you can read the mcu but is locked and inside your file will be only 00 00 00 etc you need some dump to write inside mpps

If the updaters not detect hardware i think clone is already updated or bricked.

Did you try to run the official version ?
If original version see your clone as 000000000, your clone is dead,if it recognize like a clone your mpps work with cracked version.

If your mpps is not reconize in official version for sure your clone is dead and need to change MCU.An other members have the same problem but after reboot the interface work,maybe you can try.
After the only solution is reprogram with dump or change MCU

you need a good dump for v8. for this operation you have at least 2 ways.

1. buy a good dump and flash by your self
2. buy a new uC flashed already with v8 dump (desolder the actual uC from your tool and afterwords solder the new uC on your tool).

Please go to mpps directory and use update or upgrade mpps,
your mpps HW must be v8.06 to run v8

Alu box are 100% safe till 3.0.2.37 after this update..not guaranteed..

Some working on K line.. me personnaly seen 3 mpps alu after 3.0.2.37 even no K-Line

Today I have test V5 upgrade from scary. Everything works fine. id number 236 . CN clone in plastik. I have read and write edc15 v and ecdc16u1. Checksum calculeted in writing. but time To write Ed16U1 is about 7 minutes. I thinkin V3 it was about 2 minutes.

Further i cannot read out a MED 9.5 with a V5 (ID is OK -> when i click on read i get the message: "mode not supported")

look into Device manager and maker sure you have the interface installed, it does that when the drivers is not correctly installed or interface not connected

and in device manager right click the interface and select update driver by choosing the driver in the specified address posted up

Just to put a bit of an update in, I've had to mix and match the driver files and install a second set of checksum files in the program directory under a different name but I 'think' i've got it working - I've managed to do a read from both a vauxhall corsa 1.2 and an astra 1.6, so looking good at the mo.

why didn't you open a PayPal dispute and ugrade to a Paypal claim if nessesary ?
This way sellers are forced to reply to your messages and there is a good chance payPal will refund your Payment (and claim it at the seller) when the seller doesn't offer an acceptable solution or can't prove shipping of the payed items.

Hi, I just upgraded 4 identical cables bought from the same person in the same time (4 friends who asked me 4 MPPS to write their cars with differnt files) from sw3.0.2.37-hw4.03 to sw5.0.1.10-hw6.01.
Everything went good on 3 cables, but 1 cable (the first I upgraded) seemed to do everything good (firmware upgrade + MPPS upgrade) but finally doesn't work.
I have now 3 cables perfectly working, giving serial number and hw version on the program; but when I connect the faulty cable with opened MPPS program I see no serial number and where normally I see "error1" when cables in unplugged, I see "error0" with cable plugged and hourglass alternates with pointer.

I tried to do again "firmware update" or "MPPS Update" but I get "device not found" even if cable is recognized by the pc as AMT programmer, the same as the other 3 cables.
Red light is on.

What should I do?

You don't be able to use V5 software with your V12 version because your hardware is update and only work with V12.
You need to dessolder or rewrite Silicon lab processor or buy a new interface.

In MPPS V15 seems they addet EDC17/MED17 for lot cars,but i didnt got yet any MPPS V15 into my hands :(
