bro i think in this car you will have to
adjust in ecu aswell

ECU EDC16 17 ?

EDC17, but I think that the ecu is not the problem, the dashboard have a checksum

I own a Polo with JC but haven't got time to sort it, I will connect wires to the cluster to read write externally, and compare the dumps. Mine jumped back after 50 km driving, seems like a checksum problem. I will write old dump back first and see what happens.

What MCU it has?maybe mirror eeprom inside MCU?it?s very strange because usually a checksum problem show error, def, or something like this, don?t roll back the km... :rulez: lol

I am investigating the polo JC at this moment, put old dump back, mileage didn't jump back (yet). I will drive some km tomorrow, and read a couple of dumps. I made a picture for programming on the back of the board (don't need to remove needles anymore). Only for members I know well, so ask for the pass.

The odometer in this Polo is stored in the flash as well... NEC :(

exe123

makes no sense to store it in flash. the flash used inside the nec has limited programming cycles.
would be more realistic that it stores the km crypted in the eeprom.

Are you sure that this dashboard has inside NEC MCU? maybe motorola freescale that could have an internal eeprom...
I never see one yet

I confirm it has a NEC CPU.

That's why I give up today, after 70 km driving km jumped back, I can not program the second memory in MCU at this moment
(and never will lol). Has to be done by OBD.

is it possible that this cpu has mileage in more than one place an when it goes for an update it assumes the higher???
because i really dont think its a checksum problem
because everything is well and sudently it jumps back
but no error or 999999 on the screen

Friends, I know what I am saying... Believe me - the odometer is in the flash as well!

Can I see from outside that dash is Johnson Control?
This is JC? http://cgi.ebay.de/VW-Polo-6R-Tacho-Kombiinstrument-Benzin-6R0920860-/220810014033?pt=DE_Autoteile&hash=item33694d6d51

so far only the dashcoder does this latest with 95320 in by obd as for mileage jumper back after xxx km it must be checksum rather than stored in another place otherwise mileage would jump back almost imediatly

I checked the dp3, polo only obd, all dash types.

I did an audi a4 2011 model, wouldn.t work obd.
than i took chip direct with 95320 and that one worked strait away.

but no menu for polo to do chip direct, guess it would be in flash

Can I see from outside that Polo have JC dash or regular dash like other VW models?

Mileage is for sure not inside the flash. That wouldn't make any sense. You have to erase one sector of the flash to rewrite it. Normally such sector is around 64KB and you have limited erase and writing cycles on it. None of the automotive suppliers will do such bullshit

Wanna bet, mate???
Why do people talk when they have no idea how things are done...?????

you seem to be so smart. proof it. read flash and eeprom, change mileage with dashcoder and read both again.
I guess you can not and you are just guessing.

same story with micronas where everybody believed mileage is inside the MCU.
just blablabla

I believe that only encryption key is stored on the flash of the MCU but not the mileage itself (encrypted mileage info is stored on the eeprom and the encryption key stored on the MCU) ,,, please also have a look at this flowchart http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f174/online-calculator-encrypted-dumps-try-212897/... this only my opinion ,may be right or wrong :bird:
