I drove my dish west as far as possible manually to carry ou some work on an old wall and when I tried to use motor afterwards it wouldnt respond to commands, so I drove it to 0 and reset motor and its stuck on 5w which is shown as 0 on the scale and can receive this sat with no problem but it will not move east or west from this sat. I have re entred lat and long and and rebooted box and reset motor and have tried to drive dish manually but I can only hear motor noise for a split second and it does not move. Can anybody offer any advice please. It is a DISEqC 1.2 HH motor but I have been using it with a VU+duo and usals with no problems untill now.
it was fitted professinally and I have no experience with the setup required for DISEqC 1.2
Regards.

This might help andy m8

help guide for diseqc problems,

this is a common problem which can be linked to several causes, eg: motor going to max position 60W or 60E. Not locating any stored Sat positions.

1. Incorrect saving of multi satellites. = linked to changing / restoring same sat positions, eg: corrupt DiSEqC 1.2 / USALS stored Date in receiver / motor. Or fault in receiver or motor

2. Water getting into the F connections or coax cable at the Motor or LNB F connections causing temp short which will corrupt stored DiSEqC date in reveiver / motor.

3. Damaged / kinked coax cable = cable angled/bent to tight can crush coax, this is linked to motor going to max position 60W or 60E.

4. incorrect standard of coax cable use on install, eg: RG6 coax cable max length of run with DiseqC motor 20mts, for runs over 20m - 50m use all copper coax cable Webro WF100.

Your receiver stores the DiSEqC settings & controls the motor + the motor also stores positions and can lock up or only move in small steps if it receives conflicting data from the receiver, another cause can be with the F connector connections just one of the outer braided wires crossing the inner copper live will cause a short, also the wrong length of the internal copper coax at the F connections (max 5mm) this can cause a short inside the Motor/Receiver/LNB.

To correct the corrupt stored DiSEQC 1.2 / USALS date you need to start as new install and setup receiver & motor.

1st factory/default WITH THE MOTOR CONNECTED (see receivers manual) this reset the receiver & clear any stored settings.

Next Delete all the Stored TV & Radio & Data Channels -- * Important -check you have *Delete all the stored # Radio & Data Channels.

Go into the receiver menu and find the motor DiSEqC 1.2 - USALS, use goto X ***8211; 0 setting, this will set the motor to 0, which should line up your dish @ True South, now use the receiver & remote control to find a satellite.

---------------

*Factory Default receiver - Will reset the Receiver to Factory Default & clear any Motor DiSEqC / USALS settings.

* Goto X ***8211; 0 Will reset the motor DiSEqC setting for all satellite position stored and send motor/dish to Default '0' position for USALS setup.

-----------

Before searching or storing satellites you must 1st do a Factory Default in the receivers Setup menu (info in receivers manual) with the Motor connected to clear any Stored satellite channels & Settings, then do 2nd Factory Default to 'Pair' the Motor with your receiver. Next Reset the Motor by Pressing Butttons - info in motors manual. Now start as new instal

Now start searching & storing satellite positions.

- find the 1st Sat THOR 3/5 /0.8W (bench mark alignment sat for '0' zero degrees) Satellite THOR 3/5 @0.8w set receiver on live channels transponder (BBC World channel = TP 11325H) then manual move the dish in small steps in all directions at approx position of the sat you want to receive signal from. looking for a signal / tone from the sat meter.

Next find another Sat - move the motor with your remote control watching for a good signal on both signal strength & quality bars in your receivers menu, - then Store the Sat position - Scan in channels, then the next sat, ect -

Try using the usals setup its more preceice when locating all the sat posititons, use the receivers USALS control - but first clear all the stored setting in the receiver & motor. see your receivers/manual for its USALS settings.

If you have access to another box it might worth trying to move it with that box.
