Hi guys.
I've just softmodded a friends 4.3E (who I only see once a month) the softmod was straight forward but I'm having trouble getting the USB Loaders to install. I softmodded a friends Wii and my Wii both 4.3E a few months ago so I know what files are needed.
USB Loaders need the cIOS249 to operate now I try to install these with Multi-Mod Manager 13.4 but it fails. I using the same wad files as I did on the other 2 Wiis and those installed. WAD Manager 1.7 does sweet FA you select IOS249 press A and it just sits there doing nothing the same goes for cIOSX_rev21-Installer. Yes I'm connected to the Network through my WiFi and router.
I followed the instructions in Wii USB Loader (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f16/wii-usb-hd-loader-34586/).
Digital Kaos - Downloads - cIOS36_rev9-Installer (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/cios36_rev9-installer-670/)
There are no proper instructions how to run cIOS36_rev9-Installer.dol the only dol on this download. I made a cios folder and renamed that dol to boot.dol bit it still does nothing.
The other problem I have is I can't install Priiloader 0.7. Its on the SD card and if I run it says IOS 58 rev 6176 at the top which I've installed then it goes through the file varification ok. Then password file not found and settings file deleted. Priiloader doesn't show up when I press the reset button as it does on mine so obviously it hasn't installed. The hacks.ini is in the SD root and hacks_hash.ini is in the Preloader folder.
Anyone have any suggestions how to get USB Loader GX or the other two USB Loaders?
Cheers. ;)

sounds like you dont have a patched ios36.
have you installed all the wads from the 4.3 tut?
if not, install them all then you can tweak the mod for your preference.

I presume your talking about your 4.3 mod (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f16/4-3-mod-157379/) tut but that only talks about modding a 4.3 it doesn't talk about USB Loaders. I've downloaded all the files in your tut but there is nothing I haven't got already? IOS36 installed its one of those that did with MMM.

Well MMM-61.zip (Multi-Mod Manager) has no cIOS wads.
4.3 hack files.zip has 5 cIOS files and I've tried to install them all with MMM but they wouldn't.
So am I missing a download?

I didn't try it once I tried it 3 or 4 times but it still wouldn't install everytime. As I said my friend went back home this afternoon so I would have to ask here to bring it back next time she comes up or email instructions to her husband.
I left Multi-Mod Manager 13.4 on the SD card and a couple of games Mahjongg Wii (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Mahjongg) and Rokoban (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Rokoban), Mplayer-CE, Wiimc and WiiEarth (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/WiiEarth) so she will have something to play with.

As I said before I couldn't get cIOS249 ot IOS249 to install.
I wonder what Found 106 titles and 134 titles means?
Any thoughts on these sysChecks?

get yourself mmm 13.4 Home of Multi-Mod-Manager - A multipurpose all-in-1 tool for Wii (http://mmm4wii.posterous.com/)
and select install and patch ios36 once you have a patched ios36 you will be able to install other ios/cios's

[Changelog for v 13.4 - Sep 20, 2010]
Install & Patch IOS36:
- upgraded to support Nintendo's Sep7 IOS updates
- installs patched IOS36 as IOS36 & IOS236
- IOS36-64-v3608.wad used as base IOS
Important Note*
If your Wii has a non-working internet connection setup, a bug in Homebrew Channel 1.07 & 1.08 will crash any homebrew apps (including MMM) within seconds after launch. This affects apps launched in AHBPROT mode.
To disable AHBPROT mode, delete the "no_ios_reload" line from meta.xml file in MMM apps folder.

looking at your friends syscheck there is no trucha bug installed you cant just install the hb channel then install usb loaders and expect them to work.
you need to follow a tutorial and install a the wads in sequence for it to work.
try the patch and install ios36 with mmm to get the trucha bug restored or if that dont work try Trucha Bug Restorer 1.14 Original by WiiPower Mod by R2 (http://www.wiihacks.com/homebrew-applications-utilities/67016-trucha-bug-restorer-1-14-original-wiipower-mod-r2.html)

If you look as both IOS36 and IOS58 they are the same on both Wii's. I know you don't just install HBC and the USB Loaders work.
I've never installed Trucha Bug Restorer on any Wii.
As I said in the other thread with NUS Downloader (NUSD) v1.9 is makes IOS's with different versions now to me the newest version should be better as with any upgrade.
So I've made two new wads IOS36-64-v3608.wad and IOS58-64-v6176.wad I will try those when I see her next.
Thanks again for your input.

Well my friend has come up for the weekend and I've asked her to bring her Wii console with her. I will try again to install IOS36 again which most forums say I need for USB Loaders. I will try it again tomorrow and see how we get on. I've made a new IOS36-64-v3608.wad with NUS (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/NUS_Downloader) which I've had for a while.
I will report back any success.

Ok I ran my friends the Wii console and setup the Internet to my Router. I ran MultiMod Manager 13.4 and installed
IOS36-64-3608.wad
IOS58-64-6176.wad
cIOS249[38]-v17.wad
all installed ok.
I exited HBC and ran USB Loader GX from the SD card and it ran showing all the games on my drive. I ran Configurable USB Loader and it showed all games on my drive. I ran WiiFlow of the SD card and it showed all games on my drive. I installed Priiloader and that worked. I blocked Online updates and disc updates and the Wii 'A' prompt.
I went back and MultiMod Manager 13.4 and installed USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder.wad, USBLoaderCFG - UCXF - IOS58 v8b Alternative.wad and Wiiflow Forwarder Channel.wad to put the channels on the Wii menu which it did. Everything now works as it should do.
I uninstalled my Router and it showed and ran all 3 USB Loaders and they all worked.
I did exactly the same as I did before now everything works all 3 USB Loaders.
The stupid thing works now.

The only reason I can think that it didn't work the first time is that there must have been an error on one of the wad installations and you missed the error message during all the text that flies down the screen. But as long as it works now all is good.

is it possible to downgrade 4.3e ??
Why would you want to downgrade?
You can http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a121/KStanier/google.gif it downgrade wii 4.3e to 4.2e (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=downgrade+wii+4.3e+to+4.2e&btnG=Search&hl=en&source=hp&gbv=2&gs_sm=c&gs_upl=1938l1938l0l6750l1l1l0l0l0l0l437l437l4-1l1l0&safe=active&oq=downgrade+wii+4.3e+to+4.2e&aq=f&aqi=g1&aql=) but I'm at work at the moment so all game sites are blocked so I can't read the procedure, I will try again tonight?

No when I've softmodded two Wii's previously and they worked perfectly without using ModMii.
This one worked perfectly after she brought it back for a second attempt and the exact same wads and file were used.

Modmii is definitely the easiest method

Ok my friend has brought up another neighbours 4.3E Wii to softmod. I tried to setup the internet connection to my router but it was asking for the parental lock PIN number. I tried to phone my friend to find the number but her phone was switched off. I Googled how to reset the parental lock PIN number and there are a few videos on YouTube showing you how.
How To Reset Wii Parental Controls - YouTube
Then you type the number shown into Wii Parental Control Password Resetter (http://wii.marcansoft.com/parental.wsgi?number=37514779&date=0428&submit=Get+Reset+Code) then type that number produced back into the Wii and that disables the parental lock.
Ok I was going to use LetterBomb (http://hackmii.com/2011/08/letterbomb/) again so I typed in the MAC address for a 4.3E Wii and I downloaded Letterbomb.zip to add the new HBC v1.1.0 to a 2GB SD card. I instered the SD card and clicked on Wii messages to find the red envelope but it wasn't there. I powered of and restarted and it still wasn't there.
I decided to use the old method because I have the original LEGO Indiana Jones The Original Adventures disc. I added the indiana-pwns saved game to the Wii and ran the game loaded the saved game then it softmodded ok. Now there appears to be a slight difference between v1.0.8 and v.1.1.0. On 1.0.8 it shows the 3 options.
1. Install HBC
2. Install BootMii in IOS
3. Prepare SD card
On 1.1.0 it shows
1. Install HBC
2. Install BootMii in IOS
You have to install BootMii then you see the option to Prepare SD card.
Anyway it was softmodded and I did a NAND backup straight off. All I had to do was install all the wads needed for the USB Loaders. I used the d2x v8.0 final but none of them would install, I tried half a dozen time but they wouldn't go in. I did a syscheck (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/syscheck-v2-1-0-beta-17-2071/) and used that in ModMii to see what needed updating. That made 2 extra apps IOS236-v5-Mod and SIP.
I will tell you tomorrow what those install and if they work because I aren't starting the Wii backup at 1:30 in the morning.
Now a similar this happened with the Wii that this thread was made for it wouldn't install the wads so I said bring it back up the next time you come and I will try again. I tried it the next time and the exact same wads installed first time, its very strange you have to leave it a few days.

C' mon keith were you half asleep. You know d2x won't install unless you have ios 236 loaded. lol
Keithuk
29th April, 2012, 12:55 PM
Yes I realised that today.
One of the extra apps that ModMii made was IOS236-v5-Mod now when you run that is says can't find IOS236 on the root of the SD card well ModMii only made IOS36-64-v3351.wad on the root so I put that in and IOS236 install. Why the ehll can't they give the correct name to IOS's?
Yes I install that the all the d2x's installed and the USB Loaders all worked.

Before my friends left for home on Sunday they gave me another Wii that they bought of one of their brothers as a backup.
Again I entered the MAC address and tried to use LetterBomb, with the LetterBomb files on a 2GB SD card the bleeding red envelope never came. I even entered the MAC address again when the first one didn't arrive.
As anyone else had problems with the red envelope message not appearing? The first one I did with LetterBomb the red envelope came within the hour. The last 2 it never appeared. I know it won't appear if there isn't the correct SD card inerted with the files on but mine was both times.
I use the old method with the original LEGO Indiana Jones The Original Adventures disc and the indiana-pwns saved game.
Everything completed smoothly this time it was done in 1 hour, it takes 20 minutes to do a NAND backup.

Ok I went out for a drink with friends last night and one of them told me she had bought a black Wii and there was a Wii Sports disc still inside it for ?39. Can I softmod it as she wants it in her fitness room. So when I got back home I plugged it in and got it running it was a 4.3E. I got the MAC address and went to LetterBomb (http://hackmii.com/2011/08/letterbomb/) and entered the MAC address and downloaded Letterbomb.zip. I put the files on a 2GB SD card put it back in the Wii clicked on messages and the red envelope was there that was quick. I softmodded it and did a NAND backup (this takes a long while).
I put an old 8GB SDHC card back in with all the necessary wad files and apps. I installed all the wads needed to run the USB Loaders IOS36, IOS236 and all Full cios wad pack. (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/full-cios-wad-pack-1949/) along with the Forwarders. I plugged my USB drive in and all the USB loaders worked straight off.
I did another sysCheck and there were 14 stubs so I installed
IOS11v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP]).wad
IOS20v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP]).wad
IOS30v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP]).wad
IOS40v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP]).wad
IOS50v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP]).wad
IOS52v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP]).wad
IOS60v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP]).wad
IOS70v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP]).wad
IOS80v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP]).wad
which brought it down to 5 stubs and everything still works as it should do.
I ran the Homebrew Browser (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_Browser) and downloaded and installed sysCheck GX (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/SysCheck_GX). I ran it and its similar to sysCheck but it doesn't show the Drive date and it saves the results in syscheckGX.txt file with everything in 2-3 lines continous not very nice. I've mensioned this before by Playstats (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Playstats) is a nice little app you can add to your SD card. It shows every game you have played and for how long, all sorts of stats.
I went out to day and bought a Kingston 4GB SDHC card locally for ?3.49, a Sandisk 4GB SDHC are ?6.99 at Argos.
So you can easily softmod a 4.3 within an hour.

The length of time to do a nand backup depends on the write speed of the sd card

I notice with the newer Homebrew 1.1.0 it makes a wii back up folder on the SD card with the [bootmii] folder and keys.bin & nand.bin in it, so you just zip/rar the folder and put it somewhere safe.

Good idea for newbies saves them booting into bootmii on an older wii and not being able to figure out why.
