Hi friends,
Greetings from China We made serveral tests and found some secrets...
TO FULLY BURN XGD3 ON A 15-CENT-PRICED DISC (very common RICOHJPN-D01-67 media, any brand is possible)
First of all, we must get a Lite-On iHASx24 DVD burner (or their clones such as ASUS DRW-24B3ST and so on) and flash iXtreme Burner Max firmware.
After flash, run ImgBurn 2.5.6.0.
0.As in iXtreme Burner Max official tutorial, turn on Tools -> Settings -> Write -> Perform OPC Before Write, because RICOHJPN-D01-67 media is forced to perform write at least 4x speed.
http://i52.tinypic.com/qxtr7r.jpg
1.Select "Write image file to disc" as usual.
2.Click "Advanced Settings" button in bottom right corner. (Marked red in screenshot)
http://i51.tinypic.com/316rsxg.jpg
3.Open Lite-On panel in Advanced Settings. It is required to click the individual "Change" button if you changed any setting item and a "Success" message will pop up to confirm the change.
- Turn on Online HyperTuning
http://i53.tinypic.com/iolsnn.jpg
- Turn on SmartBurn
http://i55.tinypic.com/33e7caw.jpg
- Turn off OverSpeed
http://i51.tinypic.com/2r7wltv.jpg
- Optionally turn on or off Force HyperTuning according to your disc quality
http://i53.tinypic.com/28jzhy0.jpg
Now you are ready to go! Enjoy XGD3 backups dear friends
Note that in our tests, some discs won't work at all even with all settings done!! Please try and buy another brand of disc if you encounter this.
!!please say if it works!!
press the thanks button on my 1st post 4 the guy, how about a thanks so, i can tell the guy who made it how many thanks he got from one site, in a private message!! i have already give him rep from me but, I'm sure he deserves a thanks aswell from here! if you wanna rep him for yourself then, pm me for the link on where to find him! can't send outside links here.
!!Way Two!!
This will fix it!!!! patch your games with this link http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f14/all-individual-topology-patches-249106/
then flash your ihas with this edited c4evas fw iHAS-124B-AL0S-MKM001MKM003-final_AONE+RITEK+MKM003x2speed.bin (http://www.mediafire.com/?ljbsluehg44lr77) then restart your pc or laptop, this is for ihas 124b.
Then
Open IMGBurn and go to TOOLS>SETTINGS>WRITE. Clear the box that Performs OPC Before Write. Then go to TOOLS>SETTINGS>I/O and click Page 2 tab. Move buffer size between 71-73mb, Main Buffer Threshold to 25%, and Device to 50%. Press Ok
Prepare to burn (Write Image File To Disc). On this page you can change the setting to burn at 2.4x and advanced settings (settings area bottom-right of the three icons in that area). Go to Lite-On tab...In the Change For: dropdown-list you will disable Forced HyperTuning, Online HyperTuning, and OverSpeed. If not enabled, Enable SmartBurn. Press OK.
Burn your XGD3 and verify. It should verify at 100%.
This will fix it. the fw i posted is mine with my own link so i know its safe!! if you think its not safe do not use it.
all the edited fw does is lets aone and ritek disks burn at 2.4 speed, this will not ~~~~ your drive up. all dvd burners can burn at 2.4 speed, its just as good as c4s fw!
this will work for everyone, if you dont have a ihas124b pm me and i will edit the other fws so that these disks work for that burner!!!

Confirmed working with an Infiniti 360 Disc ID MBIPG101-R10-65. Burned and verified 100% at 4x GOW3 ISO. Installed to HDD no problem.
False alarm. After successfully burning one disc as above. Now I get
E 11:59:03 Optimum Power Calibration Failed! - Reason: Timeout on Logical Unit
E 11:59:03 Operation Failed! - Duration: 00:01:17
I also get write failures using the same discs and Deus Ex ISO that is verified in abgx360. It now fails at the layer break. In the past I have had no problems with these discs whatsoever. I'm using all the suggested settings. I powered the PC off once I started getting the new errors but it is the same afterwards.
Next step is to try some verbs but considerig I am now having problems burning none XGD3 games which I had absolutely no problems with before I'm not confident. If you look up the problem imgburn suggest FW first then media. Maybe the FW has been tweaked so much it will only reliably work with verbs? But it is possible to break drives when trying to push them to do more than they are designed to do???
I'm not having a go at all the work that has gone in to this CFW just relating my experiences so people can save their discs. If only Verbs work reliably that is the way to go and not bother buying cheaper discs. The only thing to suss is the correct settings for the different verb discs to get reliable burns.

Sorry to hear you're having problems with infiniti discs mate but every burn i've had since using this tutorial has been successful, all burned and verified 100%. I'm using aone gold dl discs which are most likely the cheapest on the market, perhaps you could try them?

read the posts. its for memebers burning with other dvd dual layer types. if you buy verb disks then your all good. i have a drive like yours but the drive aint ment to burn the full iso on to the disks. the new dvd burner will fix that so its safe for xbox live, because the drive what we have only misses out 200mb from the iso what ms will see and kick our ass in to banned mode.
read for more info, this tut lets us use aone (and other brands) dvds not just verbs what c4eva told us to use. aones are just as good!
our pioneers work but are not live safe, all tho it burns but missing parts ms will see so flags will be given.
PS i don't use live on these new games and i still leave my internet lead in to play, peeps in my firends list ask me where i got that game from so, best thing to do is pull the internet lead out so you don't get others asking about it. do not tell in a message about flashing boxes because ms does read them and they will banned ya ass.

I must admit to being sceptical as to whether the Verbatim discs would be that much different than the Aone Gold plus and Infiniti discs I've used for ages without any problems pre 124b drive and CFW. But after having only one successfully burnt disc with the 124b drive and CFW I ordered some MKM-003-00 Verbatims which arrived today. I've burned and 100% verified two different ISOs so far at 4x using all the suggested settings. Both installed to HDD no problem. So I'm convinced that it's not worth bothering with other discs. Whilst some may have success using Aone and other discs and it may be that my drive is fussy I'm just going to stick with Verbatims in future.

I have the same problem with Aones. Burn verifies ok using the tut but then won't install or play, just "play game".
I'm trying burning at 2.4x after using MCSE. Will report back to the community although it's perplexing that you have the same problem with Verbs. My verbs are still on order so can't test them yet.

No I think it's the media because I'm playing GOW3 (truncated) and all other AP2.5 games fine.
When I burnt at 2.4x I actually got Ace Combat to work for some time and recognise the disc before it came up with dirty disc error. So I'm certain it's just that my 360 can't handle XGD3 burns on mediocre media. Here's hoping it's just that, anyway.

This will fix it. the fw i posted is mine with my own link so i knwo its safe!! if you think its not safe do not use it.
all the edited fw does is lets aone and ritek disks burn at 2.4 speed, this will not ~~~~ your drive up. all dvd burners can burn at 2.4 speed, its just as good as c4s fw!
this will work for everyone, if you dont have a ihas124b pm me and i will edit the other fws so that these disks work for that burner!!!

Cheap media :( Run a burnt iso through KPROBE and see the results for yourselves.
Max PI Should not be higher than 100 and PFI should be no higher than 4. If higher on some machine then can run.
I have seen discs like aone fail badly with the same settings i use for verbs. Same reason i posted a while back. The outter ring of the disc, you know the 1 conventional burners wont use? Well its used to burn XDG3.
Try the settings i posted the other night with a verb. Run through Kprobe and see if they pass

imgburn knows what drive your burning with, it will not show the message!
some drives can be flashed with other brands fws, if your going to try then make sure you back up your fw b4 you try swap it. good luck with that!!

I'm using the patch method and so far so good,no coasters.
Binary Domain and Metal Gear Solid playing fine on Liteon 2.0(offline).
Using Verbs btw and latest imgburn(Truncating)
If your a bit dubious about the patching on iso's you can always run them tru ABGX and your iso is unpatched and re injected with topology.

This worked for me, thank you....but I wouldn't use the ricoh discs online though, test with Kprobe and you'll see what I mean (shocking results) and that was burning with original burner max firmware at 4x and at 2.4x with the modified firmware on here. Fine for me though, I rarely play online and if i did, I'll be using my Verbatim discs. I'm using a ASUS DRW-24B3ST spoofed/crossflashed as a Lite-On iHAS124. For UK members, I got the ASUS DRW-24B3ST from Amazon for 17 quid as of 30th July 2012 :)

Tried it today with Optiarc DVD RW AD7240 and RICOHJPBN-D01-67 and the option Truncate, no luck. Don't know if my burner is a clone of the iHas drive.
Will try to find if it is.

@sonystar
If you have flashed the burner max firmware properly, you don't get a truncate option. As far as I know, these are the only drives that can be crossflashed to Ihas.
