my setup at the moment is, FREEBOOT with XEXMENU in my drive, with XEXMENU i then boot FREESTYLE DASH which in im my External hdd. after i boot into FSD and play a game im sent back to FREEBOOT when im finished with the game, so i have to load FSD again with XEXMENU.
What i want is FSD on my main HDD and DASHLAUNCH i think so im booted straight to FSD on boot and stay on it. i think on boot there is a way of booting to FREEBOOT if i want to. So, this is what i want but dont know how to do this. Any help people with a guide.. Thankx in advance..

Download dashlaunch and freestyle dash
Open dashlaunch folder and edit the launch.ini file in notepad
here's an example
[QuickLaunchButtons]
BUT_X = Hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0 DE99990F586558 (should read C0DE99990F586558 with no spaces, tried to edit but couldn't fix)
Default = Hdd:\Freestyle\default.xex
[Settings]
nxemini = true
pingpatch = true
contpatch = true
fatalfreeze = false
fatalreboot = false
dvdexitdash = false
xblaexitdash = false
nosysexit = false
nohud = false
noupdater = true
debugout = false
exchandler = true
bootdelay = 0x2A
liveblock = true
livestrong = false
remotenxe = false
hddalive = false
hddtimer = 210
remember to save when done
Copy Freestyle Folder, Installer folder from Dashlaunch and also the launch.ini file to usb drive (I'm assuming you're using a usb drive) and connect to your xbox.
Copy the contents to your xbox HDD using xex menu ( x button selects drive, y button to select options)
(Here's how if you're not sure)
press RB on the xbox controller
press X
select Usb0 and push A
select Freestyle, press Y, select Copy and press A
Press X, select HDD1 and press A
Press Y, select Paste and press A
Press X, select Usb0....... repeat the above steps for installer folder and launch.ini file
Now to install dashlaunch,
open the installer folder in your xbox HDD
run the default.xex
when it loads press A to install dashlaunch and follow the prompts
it will apply the settings described in the launch.ini file you edited and any patches if needed
After it completes press A to shut down
I dont know if it makes a difference but I tend to unplug the power supply from the console for a few secs
Plug the power back in, switch on and Freestyle should boot

Go to freestyle settings/content settings/manage game paths
then add the path to your usb drive games folder. eg usb0:\games
when you boot up your xbox or return to dash it will scan the folder specified.
There's also a tab in the settings to do a manual scan.

Ahh, my mistake. i had already done this process but when i was running freestyle from my usb drive. so i forgot i had to do this again on the freestyle running from xbox hdd. thanks again m8

Also, im not sure what i did but after i shut down my xbox after trying to boot freestyle from my xbox hdd it wouldnt reboot, all i got was the power symbol without the rings flashing, i also didnt get an image on my tv. i tried reboot after reboot with no look, even tried powering up by pressing the eject button.... so i pulled the power and removed all cables on the box and after that it booted fine. any thoughts.??

is your console a glitch hack or jtag? sounds a bit like it wasn't glitching properly so the exploit wasn't working.
cunny
1st February, 2012, 02:51 PM
Unplug everything. Power lead, usb + HDD. Wait 30 seconds to a minute. Plug the power back in, nothing else.
Press eject and see if you get into xell reloaded.
If you do it might be best to reflash your nand using the backup img you got sent out.
Did your file locations match the path set?
Hdd:\Freestyle\default.xex including spelling?
once you get it back up. Might be best to format the HDD and start a fresh
roryson

i think im using the glitch, running COOLRUNNER.
cunny

in your post about setting up the .ini file you said
BUT_X = Hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0 DE99990F586558
is that the right path for me, if not how do i find the right path for Freeboot.?

BUT_X = Hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0 DE99990F586558
Default = Hdd:\Freestyle\default.xex
by default freestyle dash will launch on startup or when you return to dashboard from game. As Cunny mentioned make sure the path to the default.xex for freestyle is correct including spelling.
If you hold the x button while booting or returning to dash, Xex Menu will launch
(C0DE99990F586558 should have no spaces in it, I'm not sure why it appears with a space above)
If you hold the right bumper you will go to NXE dash

im not sure what info i should put in my launch.ini file for setting up my xbox. ive transfered my freeboot folder and the install folder over to my xbox using ftp, in my client the harddrive is hdd1 not hdd, which should i use.. ?
AgentD

Default = Hdd:\Freestyle\default.xex (my xbox hdd shows as Hdd1 in xex menu but in my launch file I have Hdd and it works)
Just to clarify, Freestyle is the name of my folder for freestyle dash, not to be confused with freeboot, which is installed on the nand.
Your folder may read FreeStyleDash 2.2 or similar
roryson
3rd February, 2012, 10:50 PM
so how do i boot to freeboot if i had to..?
AgentD
3rd February, 2012, 11:03 PM
Freeboot is already installed on your nand which allows the console to run unsigned code.
When you switch your console on, freeboot starts and allows you to run xex menu, freestyle dash etc
What you need is Freestyle Dash, dashlaunch and xex menu, the nxe dash(microsoft's xbox dash) is already in place.
When dashlaunch is installed you can access any of the above by holding the relevant button when returning to dashboard.
(you can assign the buttons by editing the paths we talked about in your launch file)

It's not a problem, happy to help, I just keep unsociable hours and can't be online all the time.
So you have xex menu installed and working in your xbox hdd, it should be visible in your game library in NXE dash.
Next in your xbox hdd you should have your Freestyle folder(freestyle dash).
Next in xbox hdd, the folder called Installer that you took from dashlaunch and the launch.ini file
[QuickLaunchButtons]
BUT_X = Hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0 DE99990F586558 (should read C0DE99990F586558 with no spaces, tried to edit but couldn't fix)
Default = Hdd:\Freestyle\default.xex
[Settings]
nxemini = true
pingpatch = true
contpatch = true
fatalfreeze = false
fatalreboot = false
dvdexitdash = false
xblaexitdash = false
nosysexit = false
nohud = false
noupdater = true
debugout = false
exchandler = true
bootdelay = 0x2A
liveblock = true
livestrong = false
remotenxe = false
hddalive = false
hddtimer = 210
From there run xex menu
Navigate to the Installer folder in xbox hdd.
Press A on the default.xex to install dashlaunch.
Follow the prompts, it will read the launch file, you won't need to make changes when asked but you can apply the patches it suggests.
When it's complete press A to shut down xbox
remove power cable from xbox for 30 secs
When you reboot it should boot directly into Freestyle Dash

I think it's just the initial scan that takes some time. Should be quicker after the first run.
While in Freestyle you can check cpu and gpu temps by clicking the right thumbstick.
You might want to check your fan setting also
roryson
4th February, 2012, 11:38 PM
will do, thought i would reboot the box, after i turned it back on it wouldnt boot up. i had to pull all wire's out then reboot. working again, this is the second time ive done this

You haven't installed dashlaunch yet, have you?
To me that sounds like the glitch hack installation (but cant say for sure).
Some boxes can take several mins to boot and capacitors are being used to shorten the time in some troublesome consoles.
It might be worth having a chat with the person who glitched your console about that issue.
roryson
4th February, 2012, 11:48 PM

roryson
5th February, 2012, 12:00 AM

AgentD
5th February, 2012, 12:01 AM
you might want to consider turning the fan on. A cooler console will perform better
turn the auto scan back on and let it finish scanning.
After the initial scan it doesn't take long.
Does freestyle show the correct path to your games folder in settings?
AgentD
5th February, 2012, 12:02 AM
you could change the path in the launch file to where you have freestyle on your usb, if you feel it performs better there
roryson
5th February, 2012, 12:03 AM
thats true m8, ill let it scan and see what happens first

If it runs better from your usb then change the launch.ini

external drive should be plugged in when you boot your console.
Is the problem that the xbox doesn't see you external drive at all?
Did you format your usb drive from your xbox to begin with.
If you format the drive from your pc, the xbox wont recognise the device
roryson

AgentD

The usb drive needs a partition installed on it along with a file system which the xbox does when it formats.
There may be another way to do it but I'm not aware of it.
I believe this is what is causing you problems.

My usb drive was formatted by my console, it has an partition and some data files installed by the xbox.
It doesn't cause my console to freeze, it plays all games with or without converting to god packages and can handle all file sizes without issue.
I can only offer you advice and I believe if you were to format it from your xbox and start over you wouldn't be having all these issues.

Agent, if your xbox formated your external drive, did u have to ftp your games across because of the file system on the drive.?
AgentD
5th February, 2012, 11:16 PM
I've always transferred games or files from pc to usb. I haven't ftp'd anything to my console.
Cunny's last post would suggest its not necessary to format usb drive from the console but what concerns me is your usb drive causing the console to freeze
cunny
5th February, 2012, 11:21 PM
And going a little further on that Agent would be to either try another USB HDD or USB Enclosure.
So i got FSD running from 60 XBOX HDD

I'm still running 2.0.13599.0(jtag) purely beacuse I haven't had to update it yet, all games are still working
FFFE07DF - Is that the optional media update?
holding my x button boots xex menu (C0DE99990F586558)
If you wanted to boot into NXE as default, you could leave that line blank
