A S40 2005 is coming in, how do I recognise the right dash for Smok? The 2004 dash version looks the same but conform Smok's website it doesn't support 2004? I did some 2005 before, it was a 9s12 chip I believe.

Don't want ot make a fool of myself trying to connect.

Thanks.

Wenn you start the program and you move the mouse on the screen, and you stand still on the different dash options, a little screen appears that show you the model and the dash type`s.
Wenn the choose model don`t work, restart dash by button on programm, and start again with other type.

Autodetect function not alwaar work good.
Better choose the car manually.

I think new chassis will go by OBD.

Correct, there is a difference. Smok is for button pushers, UPA is for script writers! Arthur.

more daylight in Holland,
seriously though.
if you have all the pics of the various 912 Volvos, its only a quick solder job from the back of the board and do it with the upa.

I think 15 minutes, maybe 20, you would still be fannying about with the buttons and autodetect [?]

Many thanks to Arthur who supplied me with the pics some years ago.

Yesterday I did two Volvo s40 2004/05 with Smok interface , without any problems . Pressed "autodetect" and if it does not recognize the first attempt try again . Thats from my expirience (yesterday) .

S40 2005 came in 5 minutes ago, he is already gone. My first smok volvo experience. I bought superprog for old volvo's, I could never connect to the dash. What a difference, first try autodetect and ok. Smok is the best, I have superprog for sale :-).

Hi
To Late i seen this post, but Gijs also has smok and knows how it works.
We do Volvo a lot with the smok program and until now its 100% with al volvo's from 2000 (new model) and up.
U can withoud any problem try manually all options from smok. there wil be no harm done, baddest scenario is take battery of for short time when dash turnes black.
At the new volvo, the ones with seprate language in ICM (2007 and up) u should select "write fast" and do what program says.
When u by mistake take the "normal" version , don't forget to drive 7 km and write km : 654321, then the BCM comes clear and no errors at the dealer.
To V50/S40 2004 and up the wipers wil go on after a session don't take battery of just turn key off, otherwise it wil blow the fuse out of the ecu when u put battery on again.
That all there is to smok Volvo.

My question is : Does SMOK work on 2007+ V50/S50 without any suprises? like for example "mileage manipulated" DTC?
On their website they says:

Volvo V40 ...-2005
Volvo V50 ...-2005
Volvo S60 ...-2005
Volvo V70 ...-2005
Volvo S80 ...-2005

and how am i supposed to know real thruth?

These cars we know nothing is left in the car, after u reset all errors with vida. (clone works).
Or when u have no vida, go to a Bosch carservice garage they can errase all errors also, there even maybe some other tools on the market who can do this.
It's not that everytime there is an error, it's just to be shore.

<<and how am i supposed to know real thruth? >>

I don't read and write on this forum to tell bullshit, ( i have better things to do).
This is what i know because we work a lot with Volvo.

thanks to all.
I,ve got vida, so that's no problem.
I,m asking because i lives in Poland and when i called SMOK they told me that everything is on website, but its obviously doesnt make v50/s50 after 2007.Tell me if i'm wrong

S50 doesn't exist
V50 is until 2008 .

It's not the car what makes the difference, it's the mcu thats in the dash.

so for eaxample : the new V 70 from 2007 has the same chip as the xc60 from 2012

with smok it's simple : find the right car, (wrong car =- no problem : take batt off , and put in on )

thats all there is
when you have vida clone: errase errors and you are done :-)

yeah, my mistake i mean s40/v50 - this model has mileage stored in other places (like cem?) and smok overwrites its too?

I dont know how SMOK work on volvo
but only tool who can do DASH ans BCM is DP3, via OBD
if you have some good diagnostik tool , you can see the milage in BCM
but after Volvo dealer will update the car, then its come back old KM from BCM, even I was do with DP3

now I have problem with 2 cars V70 2012, after updating the gear box in Volvo official dealer, the OLD KM is come back
I post this to Elprosys, and I still wait for answer

As far as i Know milleage st these cars are only stored in the DIM.
When u clear all errorrs with Vida nothing is left

vida shows distance also stored in BCM, but after work with smok this value is changed too. important thing in diesel engines is to reset DPF mileage counter, located in ECM.
