OSCam on Alien 2

Alright lads I'm just after buying anew stb it's an Amiko Alien 2 and i'm just running the standard Spark on it. Has anyone got a step by step guide on how to install OSCam on it (for 100% legal reasons only of course ;) ) and whatever else I may need to install also as I'm only new to all this satellite stuff.

40 views and not 1 person can tell me how to install oscam on my system?? somebody must be able to help me! i got an email from somebody with an example of a cccam i think

Hello StigM5,
This is a pretty new box therefore not a lot of peeps will know how it works.

You will need to download a plugin rar file do a google for "alien2plugins". You put this on a usb stick or external hardrive then plug it into your alien box. The box will ask you if you want to install plugins, select yes. Then it will reboot. Then go into the plugin section of the box and a load of plugins will be there for you to use.

If you can ftp into the box (using dreambox control centre or something similar) you can stick the cccam file as mentioned into there (var folder then keys folder). Failing that as mentioned by the chief download the plugin and change the file before uploading it to the box (change in wordpad etc). You will obviously need a test line or subscription line to clear channels.

You dont need to change anything, it auto boots from the usb.

I guess your box has updated from the stb from menu spark

Download: - All_emu_plugin_Alien_16.07.2012
Unzip and put the plugin folder on USB drive (Kingston are recommended others might work) insert USB drive into rear USB socket of stb, when prompted to install press ok on remote control, (you have installed oscam the file you need we?ll come back to this a bit later. )


Next
Download: - CCcam to Oscam Converter 1.1 (very easy program to use)
Open program,- top left: - click > F: C: or N: of your line,


Then
top right- click> open cccam.cfg and import your cccam.cfg file OR paste in your line into top box,


Then
Click> save oscam.server, (you?ve now saved your line as oscam)


Now
Open DCC ? Dream Control Centre- (or your preferred FTP program)
You?ll need to add your router PC and stb IP addresses (loads of info on the net, how to find your IP addresses) get a green line between all 3 then bottom left click> FTP
Next: - in the right window of DCC search for the file you saved on PC (file should be called oscam.server) right click and edit then highlight all the txt and click copy with the top copy button.


Then
Left window of DCC Click>Var->/root/plugin.. click> keys then right click oscam.server and edit, then highlight the # on number 3 and click the paste button above top of left window then the save button and confirm you want to replace oscam and close.


Next
On stb press menu then ?plug in? highlight oscam and press ok button to start (if green press to stop RED then click to start again should be Green then exit,
Best to restart stb go to channel if done as above you should be sorted.

For those people who new to the Alien2 and need a basic straight forward setup, please see the following.

CREATED FOR Amiko Alien 2
HOW TO ADD CCCAM/NEWCAMD CLIENT SUPPORT (AND MORE) AND SETUP VIA EASY ON-SCREEN MENU USING THE REMOTE CONTROL USING SPARK FIRMWARE ON THE AMIKO ALIEN 2

1) Download latest Amiko Alien 2 Plugin Pack file from the ............. forum and save this file to your computer.
2) Insert a USB stick into your computer, open the Plugin Pack file you just downloaded and extract the complete plugin directory from the .zip or .rar file to the root of the USB stick (which must have been pre-formatted to FAT 32).
3) Now remove the USB stick from your computer and with your Amiko Alien 2 receiver powered on and connected to your TV insert the USB stick into a USB port on Amiko Alien 2 receiver (either front or rear USB port will work).
4) Within a few seconds the Amiko Alien 2 receiver will read the USB stick and then automatically prompt you on screen saying ***8216;Confirm Do you want to upgrade plug in?***8217; ***8211; Select YES using the remote control arrow keys and then press OK on the remote control.
This will now display the ***8216;Upgrade from USB***8217; menu and the update will start automatically which will only take a few seconds and once complete will automatically reboot your receiver. At the point of reboot you can now remove the USB stick from the Amiko Alien 2 (if you don***8217;t then the receiver will keep prompting to update after each reboot).
5) When your Amiko Alien 2 receiver has finished booting back up you should now be back to the usual Spark firmware but there will now be a whole host of extra plugins that have been installed which can all be found by selecting MENU > Plug in using the remote control.
We are interested in setting up a client connection to CCcam / Newcamd in this guide so continue to the next step you should go to MENU > Plug in > oscam4spark_tools.s and while this is highlighted press the OK button (you should see the red square on the right hand side turn to a green triangle along with on-screen prompts telling you this plugin has started).
6) Now in the same menu with oscam4spark_tools.s still highlighted press the RED button on the remote control (Start OSD) which will launch the Oscam4spark interface on screen.
7) Scroll over to config using the arrow buttons on the remote control and press OK and you should now be presented with a menu where you can add almost as many server connections as required! There will be a single one by default which is highlighted with the yellow box and labelled as 1. With this highlighted from the GREEN button on the remote control (Edit).
8) You are now ready to enter your client connection details. The best thing to do here is set the connection type protocol first. This plugin is actually capable of support for many different types of protocols, much more than many other receivers, the common two tend to be CCcam and Newcamd, but whichever type you need scroll down to the ***8216;Protocol***8217; section and press OK on the remote control and you can now scroll a whole list of different support protocols, just highlight the one you want and press OK.
7) You should now set all the other sections using the remote control and of course entering your valid connection details. You will need to set Server Name, Service Port, User Name, Password, and Key (only if your protocol requires this).
If you are unsure of what goes where in this part of the setup then we have included some basic guide information at the end of this how to guide to aid you with this.
Entering the information with the remote control and using the on-screen keyboard (which you will see when you enter the sections that require this) should be self explanatory so we will not cover this here in any great depth in this guide, note that the RED, GREEN, YELLOW AND BLUE buttons on the remote can be handy short cut buttons for various functions when using the on screen keyboard.
8) Once complete now scroll down to ***8216;Active Server***8217; and make sure the green dot is showing as green, if not press the OK button on the remote control and it should now turn green.
9) Finally you are now ready to save all the details you have just entered. Simply press the RED button on the remote control (Save and restart) and the data should all be saved and you will be returned to the previous menu.
At this point you are now finished, providing all your details were entered correctly and saved you will not be connected as a client to your specified server.
IT***8217;S A GOOD IDEA TO REBOOT THE AMIKO ALIEN 2 TO ENSURE ALL THE CHANGES ARE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT.
There is actually far more can be done with this specific plugin than has been covered here including full setup of OScam (which is basically what you are running here via very nice on-screen interface to setup). There is the familiar OScam web interface available and of course setup manually via FTP, so you can make it as easy or as complicated as you like!
This guide is intended to cover the very basic and very easy client setup using the on-screen menu and remote control, it doesn***8217;t get much easier than this but for those of you that want to explore more technical setups then feel free to explore the many more options this receiver and plugin offers to you!
