Hi All,

I have a Vauxhall Meriva EPS fault. I've stripped the column and ecu out. I wanted to see if anyone has a definitive solution for the common fault of power steering loss and EPS light coming on. As we know, it starts intermittently and then becomes permanent in both directions.

I saw a thread started by Skens and it was suggested it is either the brushes or the steering angle sensor.

If it is just the brushes then that "should" be straight forward, but if it is the steering angle sensor then do we have any info on how to repair it?

Or is it something else?

Once I have more info I'd be happy to do a start to finish guide, I just need a bit more info!

Thanks in advance

The supplier from that site will provide you a new sensor. I want to know how to repair. If the likes of ecutesting.com can offer this repair for 200, I think there must be either a much cheaper sensor supplier out there or info on how to repair the existing sensor.

Anybody else have any other suggestions?

Right well I ordered a sensor from minitools and they delivered the correct sensor. Fitted it and have not had the fault re-appear in 3 weeks so it looks as though the sensor is all that is required!

Problem was solved by changing the SAS. If you download PDF catalogue it has prices, I just called up with debit card to order

Problem with dealer is a lot of cars arent covered and it means you have to right to customer services. A lot of my customers are car traders and independent garages so they haven't got time to mess around at the dealers. Plus, telling them it is free from the dealers doesn't pay me bills!
