View Full Version : Suzuki Swift 2008 speed signal

Hi all,
I've go a Suzuki Swift 1.3 ddis (diesel) from 2008.
It doesn't show the speed and doesn't count km's on the cluster.
I checked ECM and BCM live data, but the speed is zero. (the cluster is not diagnosable)
I didn't find any Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) on the gearbox, but I found a genuine cap. :-) So I think this car get speed info from the ABS.
I changed the ABS, tried to recode by Tech2 in the ECM, but still no speed signal.
Has somebody wiring diagram, or any idea, what should I check?

:( I did a test drive as wrote in the description. Fuel cut is working, but still no fault code!
The ABS has two CAN line (2 times 2 wires)
ABS = > Instrument Cluster
ABS = > ECM (Diesel Engine Control Unit)
Any new idea, or correct wiring diagram?

suzuki swift client provided with the lack of speed, version 09 years (ABS, engine 1.3 MJD, CLIMA, EPS). The problem has been fixed, it was a faulty program in ECU EEprom 1.3 MMarelli ;)
Click THANKS if I helped.:bird:

Ok, so what should I do? Read the ECU eeprom and post it? Can you repair it?
Or do a software update? Is it possible?

All four wheels data are good, working perfectly, count the speed in Km/h.

I don't think so, because the ECU "can't see" the vehicle speed, in life data: 0 km/h, but the fuel cut off function is working.

its possible that the cluster is like a gateway module , need to go there first then the engine gets it from the can line .

It's not possible, ABS has two times two CAN lines:
ABS = > Instrument Cluster
ABS = > ECM (Diesel Engine Control Unit)
(I wrote it in my #6th comment)
Both are checked by oscilloscope, looks good.
But if you have a really good idea, I assure you to push the "THANKS" button. :)

my friend , you should push the thanks no matter my answer is good on not to your taste , you should explore changing the cluster ,
this is my last post on this tread , for your very distasteful remarks.

Hi crashman,
Unfortunately I didn't solve the problem and I've no more chance to try, cause the customer sold the car.
But if you find something, I'm really interested in.
Cheers!

Hello, a fault in the engine ECU.Damaged soft in EEPROM
Frame data speed of the ABS is received by the
ECU engine, processed and sent to the meter.
If you want me to fix the file, write a private message to me.

Hi everyone!
A bit of help would be really appreciated!
I have this car, Suzuki Swift M13A, 2007, the gearbox has been replaced with one from a 2009.
All the same, except that the gearbox, despite the fact that came with a blank plate in the place of the speed sensor, the reluctor ring inside is not there.
So fitting a sensor will not work...
I checked all the wiring integrity, and everything is ok, was working before anyway...
So, I presume, that these cars, can either have the speed sensor on the gearbox, or the engine ecu can take the speed from the ABS and then send it to the cluster... as czester1 said just above...
On live data I can read the speed on the ABS module...
Now, I doubt that SDT will modify these, and I don't really want to be opening the ecu to dump the eeprom, unless I am sure it can be done...
So, the question, after all above, is, can someone help me out modifying the eeprom data, so the ecu takes the speed from the abs rather than from the speed sensor?
Thanks in advance!

I thought about something like that... but the car was not mine, and I know the owner wouldn't be willing to pay for that sort of stuff... which could become quite time consuming...
I jumped the ABS signal into it... and managed to get the car to 200 kph on driveway! Loooooool
Too late now anyway... car is gone...
I put a camera on the sensor hole, there is no "reluctor" ring inside the box...
Thank you for you reply...

Why do you insult me, even if someone did something to you angrily, you should not insult anyone.
I believe that insulting anyone really indicates a low intellectual level of the person who offends.
I posted help without a password but a lot of downloads and very little thanks.
Therefore, if it's so difficult to thank, the one who wants to use it will have to make a bit of effort.
In conclusion, most of the help comes with a slogan.
