I installed, when I 1st got this Wii 1 week ago, the homebrew channel and Bootmii using letterbomb.
I added some apps, but USB loader did not seem to work.
[ I was not using WBFS ]
I deleted the homebrew channel and reformatted my system memory.

Now when ever I put in an SD card, no letter bomb is displayed.
I currently do not have any homebrew channel or boot mii menu.
When I check the data on the SD card it comes up empty with blocks.

I WAS using an 8GB SDHC card when I installed the homebrew channel.

After that that SDHC card seemed to be the problem.
No matter how many different ways I tried letter bomb, it would not work.
So I got the reccomended, SD 2GB sandisk card.

Still doesnt work, nothing on the SD card, I checked both with surface test, all fine.
both formatted with FAT32

Wii - 4.3U
It is fully updated does not require any updates.

I have tried ModMii menu, I have tried the Wilbrand.exe
I have tried bootmii, hackmii.

The problem seems to be that the Wii will not accept any information off the SD card.

I tried blowing in the SD card slot, 5 mins ago, that did not help.

I have searched the using the basic wii menu and there is NOT ANY softmod data on it.

I do NOT have a priiloader, or NAND back-up of anything.

I have searched google, and been to other sites, and read lots of FAQs.

I have used two different brand new SD cards, and both have been used and checked by my PC as perfect.

The Wii plays legit Wii shop downloaded games fine.
The Wii probably plays discs fine [We dont own any]
The SD card shows up, as plugged in, and is able to be accessed.

No freezing, no errors.

The USB doesnt display anything, anywhere.

I have tried;
Turning off wiiconnect24.
resetting/powering down/pulling the plug.
Followed all the guidelines on installing.

Welcome to DK.

You have made many mistakes with you trying different options.

To softmod any Wii with LetterBomb (http://hackmii.com/2011/08/letterbomb/) or otherwise you need a 2GB SD not SDHC card thats formatted FAT32 in Windows. After its softmodded any Wii after 4.0+ will use the larger SDHC cards.

I don't see why if you formatted the SD card and you added all files and folder from Letterbomb.zip onto the card nothing could be seen on the SD card. Did you format the SD card in Windows if so which Windows? If you have trouble formatting the SD card you can always try sd card formatter (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/sd-card-formatter-1434/), now you've made you first post you should be able to download anything in there.

Before you see the red envelope in Wii messages you need the SD card inserted with the LetterBomb files on it else the message won't show.

You said you softmodded initially but the USB Loader wouldn't work thats because there are loads of IOS's missing you should have come here in the first place you would have been up and running in less than a day.

ModMii normally works if you know what you need to type in.

Try and get the 2GB SD card formatted and add the letterbomb files again. If the red envelope shows then install all 3 options.

1) Install Homebrew.
2) Install BootMii on IOS.
3) Prepare SD card - so you can do a NAND backup (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f16/4-3-mod-157379/index16.html) straight afterward, don't miss this option out.

Then I will tell you want you need to get the USB Loaders working.

Oh you will need to show me a sysCheck19 (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/syscheckb19-2442/) report as instructed in that link.

Thank for the reply.
If only I saw this site earlier in.

Now i dont have any home brew channel at all.
I also have already placed all data on the SD card multiple ways and such and it still not showing up.

I did not do them all at once.
I first put on Wilbrand/letterbomb in the very beginning.

It worked then.
Now even that method will not work.

I download many different boot.elf files.
place one boot.elf and/or a bootmini.elf on the SD card.

The wii is on
I insert the card, and check the Wii mail.
I check the SD card slot, and
Wii settings>data mangement> channels/savedata> SDcard/Wii

Then I reboot, check the wii mail.
Then check the Wii settings>data mangement> channels/savedata> SDcard/Wii

Then I get angry.
Then I turn off then Wii or not and remove the SD card.

And go back to my PC.

I cant use Syscheck yet because I cant get the letterbomb to appear/ or homebrew channel.

I have done this page
LetterBomb (http://please.hackmii.com/)
Like 5 times and each time I place it on the SD card it does not show up in the wii mail.

This is what is on my SD card and what worked the 1st time.

D:\
-
boot.elf
boomini.elf
Private>wii>title>numbers>more numbers>etc..>18aaf0c4.000
-
Downloading the Sd card formatter, and formatting again..
And downloading the LetterBomb (http://please.hackmii.com/)
Again and about to try it...again....

Failed...

I am using windows 7 - 64 bit, Home premium.

Thats what I don't understand, if you formatted the card FAT32 and added files onto it they don't show up. When you format do a full format not a quick one as the full will check for errors on the SD card.

After formatting just add a couple of files from your computer to the card. Then remove the card and re-insert can those be seen?

I would do a full anti-virus and malware scan if I were you.

Forget Wilbrand or anything else just add all files in one go and folders from Letterbomb.zip

The wii is on
I insert the card, and check the Wii mail.
I check the SD card slot, and
Wii settings>data mangement> channels/savedata> SDcard/Wii

You don't click on Wii Mail to see the red evelope you click on Wii Message Board bottom right then click back a few days until you see the red envelope. As I've said you won't see this red envelope unless the correct SD card is inserted with the correct files on it.

When you insert the SD card you should hear a bleep if you don't then is can't read the SD card. This is the problem I had a few weeks ago with my original Wii. http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f16/sd-card-not-detected-314937/

I've just inserted my softmod 2GB SD card in my Wii. I clicked on Wii Message Board then clicked on the calendar to the date when I softmodded it a few weeks ago 25/01/13. I clicked back to the 24/01/13 and the red envelope message is still there.

You won't be able to do a sysCheck until its softmodded but there is nothing stopping you adding the files to the SD card. After it eventually softmods it goes to Homebrew and the only thing that will be showing is sysCheck, run it.

When you exit Homebrew select BootMii channel so you can do a NAND backup.

I did a full format, like three times, i did an error check and the card was able to have every sector read.

When I take out the card, and reinsert it into my PC the files are still there.

When i said Wii mail, I ment Wii message board in the bottom right.

I did a system reformat, so my wii message board shows nothing, even way back 1 week ago to when I did it.

It shows up on the bottom when I insert it, and I am able to check it.
It just shows up empty with a lot of blocks.

Im pretty sure that..
The card is fine.
The pc is fine.
This must be a issue with either the Wii's software.
Or the Wii's hardware

But idk

Thank you for all your help.

I've never known anyone do a system format I know its not recommended. I've just read what is lost in a system format.

What is Lost After Formatting the System Memory? (http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/gi_settings.jsp?menu=format&submenu=rvl-gi-sett-format-data-lost)

The Current Operating System is retained which surprises me like a computer format you loose the OS so you have to install another.

I assume the date and time are set correctly?

Just play an original disc games for a few minutes then come back out there should be a 1 flashing Wii Messages icon and click the white envelope and it should show the game name and how long you played it for. That should show the message system is working.

I've just read another forum that says:

For sometime now my Wii has suffered with the odd Wii System Files Are Corrupt, please contact Nintendo message when going to home after playing a game or using a channel.
More recently it became more frequent and started happening after pressing A at the safety screen.
The corruption seems to be something to do with the Wii message board.
If anyone else has or may suffer this issue in the future then here's how to fix it:

Temporary Fix:
Turn on Wii and on Safety screen press and hold + & - on Wiimote and press A. This puts the Wii into maintainance mode which doesn't do much except disable the Wii message board and SD card slot.
Loading a game or channel then going back to Home menu or just press Home and your SD card slot and message board are in use again.

I have gotten many Wii messages from the wii shop, gameplaying, and others.

Date and time are set correctly
