Hello all,
I have finally decided to get either the Vu+Solo 2 or the Gigablue Quad. Just need to decide what one to buy.
I would just like to ask you all for some advice on which of the two would be the best to buy.
Would the gigablue quad be better, as it has support for more tuners in the future?
Would the gigablue quad be better, as it has double the flash memory (512mb compared to 256mb of the Solo 2)?
It seems that the gigablue quad drivers are updated more regularly (March) as compared to (February of the Solo 2)?
I have heard that some features such as gigabit lan, and transcoding do not work currently on the Gigablue Quad. Has anyone heard if these features are maybe to be implemented in the future?
Many thanks to anyone who answer the questions. Thank you all for reading.

I don't have either box so can't really comment but I know a couple of people with both these boxes and they both prefer the Solo2.

I cannot comment on the Quad but i do own the Solo2 and it works as advertised including the Gigabit Lan and Transcoding works perfectly fine via the Vu+ Player App available on IOS and Android.
The Nand Flash although only 256mb may seem small in size but its only used for images and plugins so unless you want around 100 or so different plugins i cannot see the problem.
I am sure the quad works as advertised also with no problems but the facility to have 4 tuners did not appeal to me certainly not to record 3 repeats while watching another repeat when i could catch the repeat on either one of the +1 or what ever these channels call them selves that show more repeats than i actually care for.

I am the proud owner of a gigablue quad and I don't regret for a second having it bought.
Fast, smooth, very good receiver. 1 gig lan will be available with the big kernel upgrade to be expected anytime. 8 HD recordings and watching a 9th without any problems. PIP on HD channels works smoothly.
I'm using openvix which works very well, online upgrades, hardly any crashes unless from a bad plugin installed.
512 flash and 1 GB ram was another thing that made me decide to buy the quad instead of the VU.

Personally i cant see a kernel update that is to do with the operating system giving a LAN chipset that is basically 10/100 upgrade to Gigabit its down to the chipset and not the Kernel, the onlything the Quad has over the Solo2 is an extra 256gb flash and the pluggable tuners.
What the VU has over the Quad is use of the Blackhole image range as well as all the ones available for the Gigablue and the Gigabit Lan, as for the flash if youinstall the latest BH image and use the Meoboot feature which you can install any image on a USB flash drive and run from there you have the extra space for the flash so in theory if you say stick a 4gig stick in the back with meoboot and image installed you have over 3gig flash available.
They both have there pro's and cons
