M8 is a very triky eeprom 35080. you need to remove it from circuit. Read it, erase and then write. If you don't do this it will be a great chance you damage eeprom. Post here dump and i will modify mileage for you

ALways Use a NEW eeprom with these models. Red old one, modifiy km in file and write on the new one. make sure you keep all info from the old one , VIN etc.
these eeproms onle let you sum km Up not reduce

why would an eeprom let you sum km up and not reduce? does the eeprom know what are you writing on it? it has a mind of his own? i did one e46 dash with this eeprom, i read it, erase it, then rewrite it , all good with xprog. i also did a astra h dash same eeprom with diga. i didin't erase eeprom before modifying mileage and dameged eeprom dump but mileage was showed ok in dash. both cases reduce mileage.

In your case you could write them on e46 and Astra H because those memories were M350806 or M35080 3. In the case of the Range Rover Sport is M35080VP memory (write protection) and can not be written unless it's deleted with M35080 eraser or R270 programmer
