Clone J-Link SW / FW ?

Just wondering what everyone that has a clone jlink is using. I'm on 4.72a and all seems fine. Obviously changed serial number when I got it and changed the features string before re-flashing. Is there any real reason to get newer SW / FW ?

Can I ask what features string you are using? PM me if you don't want it public.

The string that came with my clone was:
RDI,FlashDL,FlashBP,JFlash,GDBFULL

I have altered this on advice from a couple of forums

(My original J-Link EDU has: FlashBP,GDB)

The GDBFull string seems to be the problem, changing it to GDB only will work with no problem, Interface can not be killed only you get and error message that you are using an clone jlink etc..., The serial number doesnt matter also.

Thanks for that. I've already altered the GDBFull and put my own serial number in as a precaution. I've looked on the Segger forums and the few people that have posted results of connecting with Commander when they have other issues seem to suggest the correct string to use (and some current valid serials as well - go figure). Seggers SW doesn't seem to mind nor does IAR 6.5 so happy days so far.

I have used IAR 6.2 and Keil 4.60 both of them seem to work perfect. If you try to reverse the dll you will see that there is a clone warning message inside and is searches for specific string GDB..., nothing else specially.

It is safe to install 4.78j? I just receive my jlink from china with 4.50 and I want to install last software from segger.

HI,
You can try if it detects it as a clone then you will receive a message only, you interface will not get killed, you will have to reprogram the atmel microcontroller that's all.

I install it and ask to make update firmware. I accept and seems to be ok. I did not try to connect at any thing yet but seems to work.
